YEAR OF THE RABBIT

I just found out that I was born in the Year of the Rabbit – 1963. As you can see below, I’m reasonably friendly. SSS and Smokey can vouch for that. In honor of the Year of the Rabbit, I’ve included the most famous rabbit scene in movie history.

According to the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of 2011 is the Year of the Golden Rabbit, which begins on February 3, 2011 and ends on January 22, 2012.  The Rabbit is the fourth sign of the Chinese Zodiac, which consists of 12 animals signs.  The Rabbit is a lucky sign.  Rabbits are private individuals and a bit introverted.  People born in the Year of the Rabbit are reasonably friendly individuals who enjoy the company of a group of good friends.  They are good teachers, counselors and communicators, but also need their own space.

According to Chinese tradition, the Rabbit brings a year in which you can catch your breath and calm your nerves.  It is a time for negotiation.  Don’t try to force issues, because if you do you will ultimately fail.  To gain the greatest benefits from this time, focus on home, family, security, diplomacy, and your relationships with women and children.   Make it a goal to create a safe, peaceful lifestyle, so you will be able to calmly deal with any problem that may arise.

I’m not sure I buy it. Irrespective of the recent disclosure that that the astrological signs are off by a month or so, I too am 1963 and wouldn’t consider myself particularly “lucky” despite an apparently misguided egocentric belief as such. The rest of it fits pretty well however. WTF

Buchjoe;

The astrological signs are not off by a month, the astronomical signs are. This is an very good explanation:

The whole thing (other than the non-arguable truth of the four turnings) is a large, overcooked, dank, smelly kettle of Smokey poop…. (He can fill the kettle at one setting).

The problem lies not with any specific generation but with the collective failings of homo sapiens. In general we are selfish, stupid and ego-centric. All is well as long as I get mine. Screw all those others in the FSA – my FSA is different.

In general, people are short-sighted, incapable of logical thought – most incapable of thought at all – and most of all still still believe in some variety of good/bad supernatural god to bless their little black shriveled hearts. Of course, if we had all the people that have ever been massacred, stoned, sliced up, hung, beheaded, beaten to death, shot or otherwise done away with under the name of religion (or politics for that matter), their contribution via breeding would be that the population of the world be an extra billion or two over where it is now.

Never underestimate the stupidity, cupidity, cunning, dishonesty, immorality or capability of murder that lurks within the average man. Especially media driven evangelists who will save your imaginary “soul” in exchange for a check for $50. I’m really sorry there isn’t a Hell because there would be a special corner with extra torture equipment for the Elmer Gantrys of this world. (or the Tammy Faye’s too).

Happy Chinese New Year to all of those idiots who believe in astrological bullshit and be sure to turn out the light when you leave you senses.
