HATBORO HORSHAM SLEEPS WITH THE FISHES
The Lansdale Catholic Crusaders are the champions of the Suburban hockey league. In a tense game, the Crusaders prevailed 3 to 1. Our goalie Ben Mills played the game of his career. The Lansdale Catholic student body showed up en mass. We were able to match the loudness of the 500 HH fans with our 100 fans. There were numerous thundering body checks, with a number being delivered by Kevin Quinn. In the last 5 minutes he single handedly kept the puck in the HH zone for over a minute battling along the boards.
My Fred Shero post made the rounds among the team prior to the game. I’m sure it was the key to the victory.
CONGRATULATIONS LANSDALE CATHOLIC. YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENT WILL LIVE WITH YOU FOREVER.
HARD WORK, DEDICATION, AND TEAMWORK ALWAYS PAYS OFF.
LC tops H-H to win league championship
The Crusaders captured the best-of-three Class A series in their first year in the American Division.
WARWICK TWP. – The building was packed, the crowd energetic. And the deciding game of the Suburban High School Hockey League Class A championship series matched expectations.
Both teams will be back in action next week in the Class A Flyers Cup tournament but, for the Crusaders, who moved over to the American Division from the defunct Catholic League Blue this season, this was the night that mattered.
“Oh my God, this feels amazing,” said LC winger Sette. “Words can’t describe the feeling. It’s almost like winning the Cup.”
The energy in the stands spread to the players on the ice; the opening period featured an abundance of end-to-end skating.
The Crusaders’ McGarity scored the period’s only goal on a shot from the right wing. Hatters goalie Jimmy Salfiti couldn’t quite cover the right post and the Crusaders had a 1-0 lead.
“I think we came out flat in the first period,” said Hatters coach Trish Silvestri. “I think we thought it would just happen instead of making it happen.”
Settle made it a 2-0 game at 7:55 of the second period when he beat Salfiti at close range.
By that point, both teams were feeling the effects of the game’s pace.
There was plenty of hitting and, for the most part, the officials let the players play on, whistling only the most serious of infractions.
Tim Boyle scored for the Hatters with 1:51 left in the second period to make it a one-goal game.
The Hatters failed to capitalize on an opportunity at the start of the third period when the Crusaders successfully killed off back-to-back minor penalties.
The Crusaders’ Andrew Hart spent two minutes in the box after being whistled for holding at 2:44 but, only moments later, scored the game-clinching goal when Lansdale Catholic dumped the puck into the Hatboro-Horsham defensive zone.
The Hatters were slow to go after the puck and the Crusaders’ Anthony Valerio got to it instead on the offensive left wing. He put the puck on Hart’s stick and it wound up behind Salfiti.
“We could see they weren’t working hard (around) the puck,” said Crusaders coach Mark DiDonato. “That (third) goal was huge.”
“They got a lot of bounces we didn’t get,” Silvestri said. “We had a lot of chances right by the net that just wouldn’t go in. I think our overall effort was there.
“Some of these kids have never been in a game like this. For them to work as hard as they have, that’s achieving a goal in itself.”

CONGRATS KEVIN!!!!!!!
You sent those fucking curs into exile. They now have a year to live in humiliation and abject misery and despair.
You and your teammates chose the path of champions.
All the cliches apply. You were down one game zip but battled back like men.
Savor the flavor, Kevin. You and your team deserve to enjoy it.
I guess this is the reason for the delay . . . CongrAts!
Dear Subscriber,
The Casey Report will be arriving to you a little later than usual this month. Due to our extensive research, focus on quality and complicated travel schedules, we’ve found ourselves short on time.
However, we like to believe it will be well worth the wait.
You can expect to see The Casey Report arrive in your inbox Tuesday, March 8th.
Thank you for your understanding,
David Galland
Congrats Quinns! They will remember forever for sure. I love that Shero saying, it’s up on my wall in the office. Hope I get to use it sometime. My son plays Peewee. We’re going to the Flyers-Pens in couple weeks, can’t wait.
Congratulations LC and Kevin Quinn. I’m sure Admin was perfectly polite in his conduct.

They threw Kevin’s best friend out of the building for starting the same chant that the HH morons were doing.
The referee got an earful when he called Kevin for a penalty when he flattened a HH goon with a clean devastating check.
Future Flyer. But Jim you are nasty. You start this blog with a picture of RE?
Yay for Kevin!! Congrats to the whole team!!! So awesome
Judy
Jack will experience the thrill of victory on his High school hockey team.

Playoff ice hockey.
The hundreds of boisterous fans that packed the stands and around the glass at the Bucks County Ice Sports Center rink paid to see playoff hockey when Lansdale Catholic met Hatboro-Horsham in the third and final game of a three game championship series to decide the Suburban High School Hockey League American Division playoff champion.
Those rabid fans got much more than got their money’s worth as Lansdale Catholic collected the playoff trophy with a 3-1 victory over the regular season SHSHL American Division champion Hatters.
Playoff ice hockey.
The contest was not to be decided until the third period when the Crusaders made the huge plays on both the offensive and defensive ends of the ice to secure the win.
Hatboro-Horsham – which trailed in the game 2-1 after two periods – had two power plays early in the period, but the Hatters could not cash in on either of them despite peppering LC goalie Ben Mills with a flurry of shots on goal.
The very first Crusader offensive surge after the penalty kills resulted in the pivotal goal of the game when freshman Andrew Hart fired a missile into the back of the Hatter net on a gorgeous assist from fellow freshman Anthony Valerio.
Playoff ice hockey.
“I’m almost speechless about the way we played tonight,” said Lansdale Catholic head coach Mark DiDonato. “And for those freshmen to step up and make big plays in the final game of a playoff series was great. They are going to be the leaders for the team next year – if they aren’t already leaders this year.
“We knew winning the playoffs was going to be tough,” added DiDonato. “But I liked the way we played in the first two games, and I knew that we could ride Nick (Sette) in a third game. He is our horse.”
The best-of-three series was played over three consecutive nights – 45 + 45 + 45 + 1 minute of overtime in the first game adds up to a demanding 136 minutes of intense playoff hockey over a 72-hour period.
“I am really tired right now,” smiled Sette who scored a key second period goal for the Crusaders. “If we had lost, though, I would have been exhausted and just collapsed on the ice. We were an overtime loss away from a sweep, and to do that against a team that is as good at Hatboro says a lot about us as a team.”
“This season has been a lot of fun,” said Hart. “I have learned a lot from the upperclassmen, and I hope that we can carry this experience into the Flyers Cup next week.”
Lansdale Catholic will make its first Flyers Cup appearance as the # 19 seed and will face # 14 Archbishop Carroll in a first round game. The contest will be played on Tuesday (3/8/11) at the Skatium with a 7 pm face-off.
Hatboro-Horsham will also participate in the Flyers Cup and will begin play on Wednesday (3/9/11) as the # 12 Hatters will face # 5 West Chester Henderson at the Ice Line Rink with a 6:45 pm face-off.
“Hopefully we can regroup and gain that same intensity we had,” said Hatboro-Horsham head coach Tricia Silvestri. “Tonight was just one of those games – we didn’t get a lucky bounce – and we left too many opportunities to score get away.
“It was an even game, and we gave a great effort,” continued Silverstri. “I can’t complain about the way that we played the game.”
Lansdale Catholic scored the only goal of the first period on a goal by Joe Magarity. The lone assist was awarded to Liam McCorry.
The Crusaders extended the lead to 2-0 in the second period on a goal by Sette, but the Hatters counter punched with their lone goal of the game as Tim Boyle redirected a shot into the net that came off the stick of Harry Nesbitt.
And then came the clinching goal in the third period by Hart after two skillful penalty kills by the Crusaders.
Mills came up big for LC with 23 saves that included eight in the final period. Jimmy Salfiti was solid in goal for the Hatters with 24 saves.
“I was a little concerned about us playing three games in three days,” said DiDonato. “But I guess I didn’t have to worry.”
After all, it was playoff ice hockey.
Reflecting back on the series, I’m not sure the Hatters even belonged to start with. It is increasingly apparent that they lacked the gravitas to hang with Landsdale.
Not to detract from Kevin or the Crusaders’ hard fought victory, but there is at least one conclusion that is inescapable:
Hatboro Hatters Eat Shit.
The Crusaders better enjoy this series triumph, because if they are seeded 19th, chances are there won’t be much more to celebrate.
Smokey
Archbishop Carroll eats shit. The Crusaders will treat them like Muslim infidels and whack their heads off.
Jim, can’t find a contact method on your site. Are you Drexel class 90 91? If so, email me.

I’m Drexel class of 1986.
OK, was a James Quinn in my fraternity pledge class. I was ’89 C&E, but he was a year or so younger, so 90-91.
Congratulations. Enjoy the years when your kids are playing sports and savor the moment. 2 of 3 of mine are done and one left in high school. It goes by real fast.
See, they learned from their defeat and came back and kicked ass.
Fuck Off – dat you DP? I guess you had time between gulps of goat cum to do a search to find this article. Damn, you are a multi-taker – blowing a goat, taking a big one up the poop chute, and typing at the same time. I bet you don’t even get a reach-around.
Fuck Off is offended by the normal lifestyle of red-blooded Americans.
He has trouble relating to people that did not run chickenshit to Canada when their country called them for military service.
Fuck Off, aka David Pierre, resents any typical American because they all serve to remind him that he is inherently a coward, and will never amount to anything worthwhile in his life.
He spends his days trying to find justification for his cowardice, latching onto all kook theories he can find, especially ones critical of the US government, because that helps to assuage some of the immense guilt he carries from being such a coward.
He knows his is a wasted life, and tries desperately to redeem it by trying in his mind to blame the government for his choice as a traitor.
Shit, you guys really get worked up over a high school hockey game. “Hatters Eat Shit”. Hilarious!
