BEAUTY & BRAWN

Our last two days in Wildwood turned out to be somewhat eventful. On Thursday, Avalon and I were able to get out by ourselves. We headed over to Coconut Cove at 8:00 to see the Raggae band, have a few drinks and watch the sun set over the Wildwood Bay.

It was a little too mellow for Avalon. She prefers more upbeat dance music. We decided to go back to the condo at 10:00. We all knew what would happen next. All roads lead to The Shamrock. We were surprised to find it crowded on a Thursday night.

They had a DJ playing some good tunes. I ordered a Coors Light and Avalon ordered a cherry vodka and club soda, her new favorite drink, from Brooke the fairly hot blonde bartender. She had been there during our two previous Billy Jack visits and had been unfriendly and kind of nasty. But tonight she was happy, talkative and smiling. Avalon noted how she seemed to be making her drinks with 50% vodka and 50% soda. After my first beer, I figured out the reason the place was crowded. It was $2 Pitcher Night. You gotta love The Shamrock. I ordered my pitcher and the fun started. Brooke gave me a glass. Avalon noticed that the guys to our left didn’t have glasses and were drinking directly from their mini-pitchers. Avalon told me that Brooke must have thought I was a dandy and not man enough to drink from my pitcher. After two more really strong drinks, Avalon was chatting with everyone.

She was becoming good friends with Brooke and told her how pretty she was and that she reminded her of someone. Brooke said that some people told her she looked like Blake Lively. She pulled up a picture on her phone and showed it to us. There was definitely a resemblance.

The Shamrock had done a major upgrade since the previous Saturday. They added two deodorizing cakes in the men’s room urinal trough. The aroma was delightful. While I was in the men’s room Avalon was getting to know the two pitcher guzzling dudes sitting next to us at the bar. They were enthralled that any female would actually talk to them. Attractive females are not a common sight in The Shamrock. The guy on Avalon’s left also looked like a movie star, just not quite as good looking or well dressed. She has a way of attracting the downtrodden.

The two dudes needed to get back to the trailor park, so they guzzled their pitchers and got up to leave. The dude told Avalon she was hot and he was sorry she was married and shook her hand. I hadn’t heard the farewell as the music was playing loud. He then shook my hand. After they left, Avalon told me what he said. I laughed hysterically and asked if I should have beaten him up. We staggered out of the bar at 2:00 am and survived the few block walk home, passing riff raff and gang bangers on our trip.

We told the kids we were going to do the waterparks on Friday, so we had to get moving early. It wasn’t easy. We were at Raging Waters by 10:30 am.

I stuck to the Lazy River and let the kids do the super slides. We ended up at Ocean Oasis and our swim up bar at the end of the day. There would be a huge fireworks display at our block at 10:00 pm. I was running on empty and ended up falling asleep before the fireworks. I missed all the fun.

My two sons Jimmy & Michael, along with Jimmy’s friend we brought down for the week were walking on the boardwalk with the thousands of other tourists at about 9:30. Jimmy had bought a Pittsburgh Pirate retro hat earlier in the week at the Boardwalk Mall.

As they were leaving the boardwalk at our block, a black teenage juvenile delinquent, who will eventually inhabit our fine prison system, struck up a conversation with Jimmy. He asked him where he was from. Jimmy told him Pennsylvania. The kid said he went to North Penn, which is our school district. He came closer to Jimmy and then grabbed his hat and ran back onto the boardwalk. Jimmy started to chase him, but besides having low IQs, no work ethic, and no sense of shame, black teenagers can run like the wind. It really helps when they steal things.

Jimmy came back to the condo and told Avalon what had happened. Avalon is generally a passive non-violent person who tries to find the good in all people. Not tonight baby. She was infuriated by this crime. The fireworks were almost ready to start. The boardwalk was packed with people. There were Wildwood police on the boardwalk. Her and the boys headed up onto the boardwalk looking for the punk. She lectured Jimmy that the kid had bad parents and would eventually end up in jail. They searched for 30 minutes with no luck. Then they spotted him with 4 other black scumbags. They were getting ready to watch the fireworks. Jimmy’s hat was hanging from his belt. Avalon told Jimmy to go get the cops that were a block away, but her rage got the better of her. She charged up to the punk and grabbed the hat, but it was hooked and she couldn’t get it off. She started yelling at the piece of shit for stealing the hat. He was startled and scared. His posse didn’t make a move. Jimmy came up and unhooked the hat. He was mouthing off to her but she gave it right back to the dirtbag. She then took the boys over to the cops and asked them to stay with them for the fireworks. It was too crowded for the cops to find the future criminal element of Wildwood. Avalon had started the fireworks a little early.

Meanwhile, I slept through all the festivities. To top off the night of crime, someone stole the Ron Paul 2012 bumper magnet off the back of her car in the middle of the night. They are lucky she didn’t witness this crime, or there would have been hell to pay. So ends the story of Avalon – superhero with beauty and brawn.

Avalon sounds a lot like my dear wife. However, the same advice applies to her – knock that shit off. Seriously. They, as women, may get away with that stuff – but not always. However, others, like maybe Jimmy, may become the target of their ire. Or the Admin. Or whoever. My experience in this, which is not inconsequential, is that bystanders or family members get drawn into these things. Often. With entirely unpredicatble consequences.

I have advised my wife of this on more than one occassion. In her self-righteous fervor to get the hat back, or whatever, I can get pulled into the equation. And that could have most unfortunate consequences, for me, for the kid, for whoever intercedes.

For example, I was once pulled into such a situation where someone went to get the hat back (not exactly that situation, but similar, and you get the idea). The young black kid (actually 20 something white guy) decided not to let go of the hat, and slapped the woman. Things deteriorated rapidly from there, and there was real, live possibility of someone being severely hurt (someone did get pretty badly hurt but no charges got laid) or killed, going to prison, etc. Fortunately there were no weapons involved, but there easily could have been. No fooling. People die from this shit, and it is best avoided, and it can be avoided. I witnessed another incident where it is possible someone may have died – he was taken away in an ambulance, but it wasn’t looking good. And I have seen a number of similar incidents that resulted in varying degrees of injury.

My experience is some folks, especially women and the young or those never exposed to high-level violence, do not understand that these things can blow up, with potentially life-changing results.

That is my lecture for the day. For what it is worth, let the hat go next time. Don’t take the risk. Walk away.

With a name like Avalon, she is already a SuperHero.

Sorry about the cat.

Sounds like fun….

Some motivation for Administrator to muscle up?

llpoh is right, but that hoodlum got pimped by Avalon.

Fun times indeed.

FWIW…

Never let any stranger, regardless the friendly, often disarming banter, invade your personal space.Always keep unfamiliar within an arms link at the the very least.
Trust me on this.
I’ve seen people very severely hurt for not heeding this simple safety precaution.

llpoh, I get it, it was a dangerous thing to do. I regretted it soon after and then spent the next 2 days telling the kids that they should NEVER do what I did. As teenage boys, they might have gotten beat up or had a knife pulled on them. I won’t be doing anything like that again….unless someone gets me mad enough… 😉

Alexistan, you probably already know this, but Avalon is not my real name, its just always been my TBP name. Oh, and lol, those pics above aren’t real pics of me either. haha, everyone looks beautiful (even an average old lady like me) in a dark bar on $2 pitcher night.

Mister Admin and Avalon:

Those boys were my nephews. They aren’t old enough yet to get on Welfare or disability, so they have to get by until then; but they are counting the days until they qualify. They already have a nice beach-front section 8 condo picked out. They have become baby-daddy’s several times over, but the baby-mommas won’t let them use their newly minted EBT and SNAP cards, and won’t let the boys shack up with them in their public housing. So, they have to wait.

I taught them everything I know about getting free stuff. I’ve made quite a life for myself and my family, and I couldn’t be prouder. I live in luxury at the beach, free healthcare, medicine, free food, free cell phones and internet. I don’t have to lift a finger. My fool neighbor admin has to bust his ass just to get by, and, being white, his son should have just given the hat to my nephew. I guess he doesn’t realize that when he gets a job, half his pay is going to my nephew, us, and all our friends on Welfare and disability. What a fool. My nephew was just taking what is rightfully his, sooner or later.

What llpoh said, and I see Avalon’s reply. Glad it worked out, but we could just as easily be reading about how Jim’s family was all in critical care with permanent brain damage.

There are good universities and other good jobs in states and regions that don’t suck ass. Sometimes you need to draw the line and hold regardless the cost, but other times you need to realize the battle is over and it’s time to retreat. Look at it this way – you can help in establishing the future fault lines for the post-US political geography of north America.

Avalon, right is right and wrong is wrong and sometimes it is damn near impossible to do nothing.

I’ve been there, I’ve panicked after the fact and I’ve vowed to never put myself in that situation again.

Which has worked great until the next time it didn’t.

Glad you and kiddeos are ok.

Really, really, really glad there are still people in this country that will stand up for what is right and try to educate the worthless.

@sensetti: while Trayvon got his, Zimmerman is in jail and there is every sign that the state is going to convict him of something, no matter what, no matter how innocent he may be of anything actually illegal.

Ah Avalon, you’ve broken an old man’s heart! I was voting for you being the one on the right, having such heavy equipment and all… If I were a member of the FSA, I wouldn’t have wanted to get on your bad side either.

I am glad that life seems to get interesting wherever you and Jim go!

I haven’t been in the middle of a riot since 1962 in Recife, Brazil.. I was asleep on the third floor of a downtown hotel and was awakened by music, singing and all manner of dancing twirling people when I looked out the window.

I thought it was a street party, put on some ratty clothes and went out to join the party – which I did. When a couple of the ladies found out I was an American a cheer went up and I was handed a great rum drink and had a blast for an hour and a half. (*This was between 1-3 AM)

Then some rumbles in the distance, a vast array of Army trucks loaded with troops rolled up and everyone vanished, except for me, as I was, by then, half fried and sitting at an outdoor table in front of the hotel.

That’s when I found out that the “party” was Communista demonstration and I was in significant danger being outside.. My ass. I had a good time and there was no destruction or fighting or bottle throwing or nothing. My Portuguese (which was only slaughtered high school Spanish at that time) was so poor, I never got the word I was in the middle of a communista inspired riot.

May all riots be so pleasant..
