I DID NO MORE THAN YOU LET ME DO

First they tortured the Muslim terrorists.

Next they invaded and bombed sovereign Muslim countries.

Then they roamed the Muslim skies with lethal predator drones.

Then they started listening to your phone calls and monitoring your internet messages.

Then they treated you like a terrorist at airports.

Eventually, they will torture those who do not conform to their policies and rules.

Eventually, they will enter your home in the middle of the night without a warrant.

Eventually, predator drones will roam the skies above our cities.

THEY WILL DO NO MORE THAN YOU LET THEM DO.

THE HANGMAN

By Maurice Ogden

Into our town the hangman came,

smelling of gold and blood and flame.

He paced our bricks with a different air,

and built his frame on the courthouse square. The scaffold stood by the courthouse side,

only as wide as the door was wide

with a frame as tall, or a little more,

than the capping sill of the courthouse door. And we wondered whenever we had the time,

Who the criminal? What the crime?

The hangman judged with the yellow twist

of knotted hemp in his busy fist.

And innocent though we were with dread,
we passed those eyes of buckshot lead.
Till one cried, “Hangman, who is he,
for whom you raised the gallows-tree?”

Then a twinkle grew in his buckshot eye
and he gave a riddle instead of reply.
“He who serves me best,” said he
“Shall earn the rope on the gallows-tree.”

And he stepped down and laid his hand
on a man who came from another land.
And we breathed again, for anothers grief
at the hangmans hand, was our relief.

And the gallows frame on the courthouse lawn
by tomorrow’s sun would be struck and gone.
So we gave him way and no one spoke
out of respect for his hangmans cloak.

The next day’s sun looked mildly down
on roof and street in our quiet town;
and stark and black in the morning air
the gallows-tree on the courthouse square.

And the hangman stood at his usual stand
with the yellow hemp in his busy hand.
With his buckshot eye and his jaw like a pike,
and his air so knowing and business-like.

And we cried, “Hangman, have you not done,
yesterday with the alien one?”
Then we fell silent and stood amazed.
“Oh, not for him was the gallows raised.”

He laughed a laugh as he looked at us,
“Do you think I’ve gone to all this fuss,
To hang one man? That’s the thing I do.
To stretch the rope when the rope is new.”

Above our silence a voice cried “Shame!”
and into our midst the hangman came;
to that mans place, “Do you hold,” said he,
“With him that was meat for the gallows-tree?”

He laid his hand on that one’s arm
and we shrank back in quick alarm.
We gave him way, and no one spoke,
out of fear of the hangmans cloak.

That night we saw with dread surprise
the hangmans scaffold had grown in size.
Fed by the blood beneath the chute,
the gallows-tree had taken root.

Now as wide, or a little more
than the steps that led to the courthouse door.
As tall as the writing, or nearly as tall,
half way up on the courthouse wall.

The third he took, we had all heard tell,
was a usurer…, an infidel.
And “What” said the hangman, “Have you to do
with the gallows-bound…, and he a Jew?”

And we cried out, “Is this one he
who has served you well and faithfully?”
The hangman smiled, “It’s a clever scheme
to try the strength of the gallows beam.”

The fourth man’s dark accusing song
had scratched our comfort hard and long.
“And what concern,” he gave us back,
“Have you … for the doomed and black?”

The fifth, the sixth, and we cried again,
“Hangman, hangman, is this the man?”
“It’s a trick”, said he, “that we hangman know
for easing the trap when the trap springs slow.”

And so we ceased and asked now more
as the hangman tallied his bloody score.
And sun by sun, and night by night
the gallows grew to monstrous height.

The wings of the scaffold opened wide
until they covered the square from side to side.
And the monster cross beam looking down,
cast its shadow across the town.

Then through the town the hangman came
and called through the empy streets…my name.
I looked at the gallows soaring tall
and thought … there’s no one left at all

for hanging … and so he called to me
to help take down the gallows-tree.
And I went out with right good hope
to the hangmans tree and the hangmans rope.

He smiled at me as I came down
to the courthouse square…through the silent town.
Supple and stretched in his busy hand,
was the yellow twist of hempen strand.

He whistled his tune as he tried the trap
and it sprang down with a ready snap.
Then with a smile of awful command,
He laid his hand upon my hand.

“You tricked me Hangman.” I shouted then,
“That your scaffold was built for other men,
and I’m no henchman of yours.” I cried.
“You lied to me Hangman, foully lied.”

Then a twinkle grew in his buckshot eye,
“Lied to you…tricked you?” He said “Not I…
for I answered straight and told you true.
The scaffold was raised for none but you.”

“For who has served more faithfully?
With your coward’s hope.” said He,
“And where are the others that might have stood
side by your side, in the common good?”

“Dead!” I answered, and amiably
“Murdered,” the Hangman corrected me.
“First the alien … then the Jew.
I did no more than you let me do.”

Beneath the beam that blocked the sky
none before stood so alone as I.
The Hangman then strapped me…with no voice there
to cry “Stay!” … for me in the empty square.

Everything that’s going down in our “Homeland” today is like a bad science fiction TV show. Its as though we’ve jumped from 1991 into an alternate reality future 20 years later, into Stalinist America. I’m sure we’re really stuck in an episode of “Quantum Leap”.

The questiion is, how do you change channels?

Admin said, “Eventually, predator drones will roam the skies above our cities.”

Too late…they already are in several parts of the country. Texas, California and I would imagine the East coast as well.

Intenet search “police departments, drones” and see how many articles are out there on the subject already (dating back to 2008)…South Carolina, Florida, Texas, California…I feel safer already.

And then you have variations of these that I GUARANTEE are floating up in the Stratosphere…can’t see them with the naked eye but at night or sunset they might be visible.

Why X-Station Design is different

The X-station design utilizes thoroughly tested and proven technology for high altitude balloons and UAVs.
The X-Station is the first high altitude design platform incorporating a Blimp & Payload Plane.
The X-Station thermal management solution makes it possible to use very light material for the Blimp (70gr/m2 as compared to other airship designs with 300gr/m2 )
The X-Station design solves ascent, descent and geostationary problems, and has low ground infrastructure requirements.
Exhaustive technical feasibility studies are being undertaken to validate the X-Station concept and its technologies.

I can confirm I saw, with my own two eyeballs, a huge air dirible/blimp outside of a hanger in remote west Texas. Taking the kids camping last summer, and driving in the middle of bumfuck Texas to get to camping spot.

A huge blimp, tethered to the ground outside of a hanger on a road in the middle of nowhere. I asked a friend about it, and he responsded it was a survey station to track drug trafficking. I wish I had taken a picture, although Plato’s picture looks remakably similar to what I saw.

Good place to add this little bit of news…

National Emergency Alert System Set To Launch In NYC

“A new national alert system is set to begin in New York City that will alert the public to emergencies via cell phones.

Presidential and local emergency messages as well as Amber Alerts would appear on cell phones equipped with special chips and software.”

Time to go off the grid, seriously. No credit cards, no smart phone, buying computer with cash and not registering it, using internet cafes, no Onstar, no GPS.

Those things are just an electronic form of iron shackles. Truly, is your life all that better with all that stuff?

Drop out before they find you, at least make it hard for them.

This guy, Frank Ahearn, has some interesting ideas about this.

@ Thinker

Just heard that Mexico City was doing the same thing. Synchronization of tactics, methods of control should have alarm bells going off in the inhabitants-of-this-planet’s brains! Looks like a global governance system is being installed right beneath our noses and most are none the wiser.
If they were then they would see right through the bullshit “nationalistic” fervor that those in our government and the MSM will stoke in order to engineer a 3rd world war.

since the OBL killing, the police state that was manhattan island in the early part of the decade has returned, to a degree. cops are much more visible at many major intersections. and at two jewish institutions in my neighborhood, a synagogue and the jcc. also at the big mosque on 96th street.

yet, their presence does not make me feel more secure.

@ Plato,

Yes, and the New York press conference/announcement was apparently made at Ground Zero, just to drill into people’s heads that government is “only trying to keep you safe.” It feels very PsyOps to me… I can see them ‘testing’ the system by blasting out a warning over a fake bomb threat just to see how many people obey their directives.

“First they tortured the Muslim terrorists.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with torturing a terrorist, Muslim or otherwise.

Terrorists want to kill us!!! Wouldn’t it have been WONDERFUL to capture and torture some muslim jihadist BEFORE the 9-11 disaster?? It would have saved us a trillion dollars or more, and preserved our Constitution. Torture a few scum …. preserve an entire nation. Anyone with half a brain realizes that this is an acceptable tradeoff.

As far as invading Muslim countries, well, how can one find these terrorists unless you invade THEIR turf first??? Jesus H. Christ. This is just common sense.

Some of you people need to start reading Mein Kampf, Sun Tzu, and Clausowitz. You think Attila the Hun gave a flying fuck about the morality of torture? Fuck no. He had a planet to conquer, and he damn near did. THAT’S the way we need to start acting. Preemptive. Shoot them before they shoot us.

FBD, I hope you are/were being sarcastic.

But I doubt it.

Pray tell which verse in the bible gives our soldiers an out for killing innocents in foreign lands?

How is it that George Carlin is going to hell for daring to think, yet you will get into the kingdom of heaven for allowing, justifying and asking for the murder of thousands of innocents?

What in the hell is wrong with most Christians?

The hypocrisy is astounding. I could take no more of it by the time I was 12.

Thirty some years later and it doesn’t sit any better with me.

Good luck to all the immortal souls. What utter bullshit.

Why ask me about Bible verses? I’m not a Bible expert. I swear, everytime I try to get away from this subject, people pull me back in. And then when I give my opinion, I am crucified for it.

I have never initiated my religious views here. For example, on that George Carlin thread, I merely gave my opinion that Carlin is going to hell for rejecting Jesus Christ, the Lord and Savior of all who ask. And for that I got many thumbs down, a religion lesson from someone nuttier than me, a “bite me” from Muck, and even The Finger from George Carlin himself. Oh, the horror of having an opinion!

Anyways, if you want Biblical justification for “killing innocents in foreign lands” just read the Old Testament. It’s chock full of examples. In the New Testament just read Revelation … you know, where 95% of humanity is killed off by 4 Horsemen, trumpets, bowls, and vials. I’m sure more than just a few innocents die, Such is the nature of Divine Retribution.

I can understand why you chose to leave the faith. Me? I’m sticking with it, and hoping to slide in by the skin of my teeth.

Lastly, I’m not 100% sure if Carlin is going to hell. Only God can determine that. But on the cross, one thief asked for forgiveness and Jesus said that day the thief would be in heaven. The other thief mocked Jesus — in a far, far, FAR less serious way than George Carlin — and that ol’ boy is burning in hell. So, just sayin’, it ain’t looking good for George The Blasphemer.

Regarding torture

Let’s say that by torturing 5 muslim terrorists, 9-11 could have been COMPLETELY avoided.

The towers still stand. The 3,000 never die. Iraq and Afghanistan are not invaded. 6,000 American soldiers don’t die. Tens of thousands of American soldiers are not wounded. A million plus Iraq and Afgan citizens are not killed or wounded. A trillion plus dollars still in our coffers.

Would you approve of torture of those 5 terrorists in that scenario?

Regarding invading Muslim countries. I guess I need to start writing \sarcasm:off/ or some other crap.

Nevertheless, I am serious about the Attila, et al references. I am sick of the bullshit idea that America can’t win wars, esp against countries fighting us with the equivalent of sticks and stones.

We can win …. IF we fight like the ancients. Go ahead and read not only about Attila but, the Persians, the Egyptians, Alexander, and even the brutality of the Romans. These folks didn’t fuck around. They went into a village — innocent or not — burned it to the ground, killed mostly everyone including kids, fucked the good looking women, conscripted the strongest, and moved on to the next village to rinse and repeat.

Where is the America that dropped a nuke on Japan, and firebombed Dresden? The America of old that killed tens of thousands of innocents without remorse?? Here’s the deal you knee-jerk thumbs down voters. THAT’S how you fight a war. Either be ALL IN, or don’t fucking go in the first goddamn place!!!!!!!!!

But the USA has not been in a legitimate all-in war since WWII. ALL our wars since were a fucking waste of property, money, and lives – for both sides. Our politicians are pussies. Our generals are pussies. Corporations who profiteer are pussies. Americans, including me, who allow this shit for the past 60 years are the biggest pussies of all.

@FBD – To an extent, I agree with you. I was raised to never start a fight you can’t finish, and the same thing should apply to the US.

That being said you are still a fucking idiot. Citing the raping and pillaging of “the good ole days” as something to aspire to is mind boggling. I’m sorry, but I think you’ve read one too many novels and seen one too many action movies.

There are places in this world where fights like you listed still take place on a daily basis. I’m sure you have enough money to get there. Go and watch, view the aftermath. The human cost of total war is more than your mind can grasp, I assure you of that. Of course, there is a lot that your mind can’t grasp I’m sure, so this will be one more to add on top of an ever increasing pile.

OK, Admin. You don’t want to play. That’s fine.

However, ‘thought experiments’, ‘what-if’ scenarios, etc., are a COMMON practice in philosophy and used by, well, everyone.

The scenario was constructed for thumbs down voters, or those with a knee-jerk reaction to the word ‘torture’. “NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” is the immediate response of most. It’s a non-thinking response, and understandably so, even for me, believe it or not. Who in their right mind would approve the torture of another human — no matter how evil that person may be?

Yet, yet … how many of us are hoping that Sandusky rots in hell forever? Not to get into yet another religious diversion … but let us simply assume hell is real. In that case, we ARE approving the worst possible torture imaginable — and for eternity, no less. But, it’s an acceptable punishment when WE are not the torturer. Torture in this case is OK since the Devil is doing it .. and doing so with God’s approval. This is a strange belief system, if one stops to think about it.

To sum it up; the scenario was constructed to merely question the widely held belief; “Torture is always wrong.”. I say, philosophically, at least, the answer appears to be “no”.

I’m a “fucking idiot”? How nice of you to engage in a civil discussion. But, I’ve trolled here long enough to know that divergent points of view are met with angry, hateful words and personal attacks. You didn’t seem the type … oh, well.

You attribute to me that—- “raping and pillaging of “the good ole days” as something to aspire ..”

Really? Is that what I meant? That we should go back to raping??? lol Or, did I mean that when we fight a war, we should fight to win? You win wars by killing people and destroying things … rape is not necessary. By the way, which is worse? Raping or instantaneously frying tens of thousands in a nuke blast?

My mind can grasp a lot of things. Your assumptions about me are bullshit. How do you know I’m not a WWII vet? Or Vietnam vet? Or Iraq vet? I can assure you, I am one of those choices! I know more than you think.
.
.
So, a serious question for you … since you are so aghast at my belief that wars should be fought all-in or not at all.

How would you propose wars be fought?

I’m guessing you’re in favor of the Afghanistan style? You know, 10 years of fighting. Bomb a village here and there. Take a few losses. Bomb some more. Terrorize at random intervals. Take a break. Institute a “surge”. Win absolutely nothing. And then pack up and leave. Is that a better way?

I try to stay above personal attacks, but sometimes someone makes a statement so asinine as to instantly call into question their mental capabilities.

My issue is with the POLITICS of wars, not how we fight them. We have not fought a war with an actual objective in mind since WW2…..with the possible exception of the Korean War.

These are the reasons I see for making war:

Protecting our borders from military action.

To aid an ally against invading military action.

To conquer. Yeah, I said it. None of this international police crap. If we are going to take on a country we damn well better get something out of it. We have the capability to zap almost any other country’s entire military and political structure in a matter of days, and with damned little warning. The only reason we have had wars like the past 50 years is NOT because of our policy of leaving live bodies behind us, but because our government has a policy of LOOKING like they want to accomplish something, without actually laying out a game plan.

You advocate total war, which nets an enormous toll of civilian bodies.

If you are a US soldier then I’m a bit ashamed that your take on war actively encourages the shooting of unarmed combatants.
