POLICE UNION FUNDRAISER FOR THE THUG COP THAT DECKED WOMAN IN PHILLY

You gotta love cops and you gotta love government unions. Our police commentors tell us that 99.9% of cops are just like us. They are good people looking out for the best interests of the citizens. The story below tells you everything you need to know about cops. They don’t think a cop who slams a defenseless woman in the face for no reason is a bad cop. Not only don’t they think he deserves to be fired, they are going to throw a nice big party for the thug. This is the mindset of police unions and their members. They don’t give a fuck about the public. They want their gold plated pension, retirement at 50, lifetime healthcare, and freedom to kick the shit out of the public without consequences.

All government unions need to be crushed and discarded. This prick needs to be scorned and ridiculed. Fundraiser my fat ass.

Union to fete Philly officer who hit parade-goer

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Members of the city’s police union are planning a fundraiser for a lieutenant who is being fired for punching a woman at a parade, an encounter caught on video.

Earlier this month, the city’s police commissioner announced that Lt. Jonathan Josey was suspended for 30 days with the intent to dismiss.

Mayor Michael Nutter apologized to the woman, saying he was “appalled,” ”sickened” and “ashamed” by the video. It shows 39-year-old Aida Guzman being struck in the face and falling to the ground, her face bloodied, and then being led away in handcuffs during a street festival associated with the city’s annual Puerto Rican Day parade.

The Philadelphia Daily News reported (http://bit.ly/WZImtO ) that union members are supporting Josey and holding a five-hour, $30-a-person fundraiser for him on Oct. 28. Fraternal Order of Police President John McNesby said the proceeds will go toward Josey’s living expenses.

“It was inappropriate for the city to apologize to this woman and drop the charges until the investigation was complete,” McNesby said. “And we still don’t believe it’s a fireable offense.”

The fundraiser isn’t an official union event, McNesby said. But the newspaper reports it’s being advertised on union letterhead and on the union website.

City Councilwoman Maria Quinones-Sanchez said she was disappointed because the fundraiser makes it appear that officers condone Josey’s actions.

“While I understand that the FOP has to defend one of its own, I am extremely disappointed because this will appear that they are condoning the very visible actions of Josey, which hurts the image of their good officers,” said Sanchez, who represents the district where the encounter occurred.

Guzman’s attorney said he had no strong objection to the benefit.

“We don’t think he should be reinstated, that’s for sure,” attorney Enrique Latoison said. “But as a defense attorney, I understand that his people are going to defend him and look out for him.”

A disorderly conduct charge against Guzman has been withdrawn.

Its quite possible that its not optional. The higher you go in the chain of command, the more likely the guy is to be sociopathic. They may be leaning on their lower ranking guys to show public solidarity despite the fact that many of the cops on the force think it was an uncalled for blow.

/DA-off/

Personally, I think HIS crime merits assault and battery charges, as well as being put on administrative leave pending an investigation into his past behavior. Firing? I’d wait for the investigation to be complete.

Right now his primary crime seems to be getting caught, rather than the deed itself. I hate to pull this card, but judging by the commentary here on the boards, that seems to be the common thread. You are only a bad cop if you get caught, other than that you are doing whats necessary to protect the citizens from themselves.

What the hell do you expect from unions? I wish I lived close enough to the fundraiser to see who actually shows up. I doubt that the rank and file will put up much of a showing.

Josey deserves to prosecuted as vigorously as they might prosecute a civilian who had done this to a cop. He should be banned from ever working in any public service job (paid by taxpayers) for the rest of his life.

I still do not believe that the majority of cops are bad anymore than I believe the majority of Boomers, or any other group of people is bad.

IS, what about politicians, would u agree the majority of them are bad?

The difference between groups like cops/politicians and boomers is that being a boomer is math, its out of the person’s control, where being a cop or politician is a choice. The type of person who seeks out that level of power over other people can say a lot.

harry p,
At the Federal level I believe the majority of politicians are probably bad. At the county, city and lower levels, I don’t think that holds true. I know several low level local politicians who earn a pittance in that role, still work day jobs and are only involved in politics to help their community. They have no aspirations to make political careers for themselves. Federal, State & big city govts are largely corrupt and the evidence of their deeds is apparent.

I had to pop in to work for a few minutes today to check gas flow levels on some equipment and on my way home saw a State Trooper helping to freaky looking Millenial chicks change their front tire which was shredded. I guess he was just another bad cop. Would he still be a bad cop if either of those girls was your daughter or wife?

Perhaps this question will show my ignorance more than I know but……

Why not file a criminal or civil case against Josey for assault and battery? If the woman had popped Josey in the face, she would have certainly be charged.

Probably be a good idea to not allow any cop to work as a cop for more than 10 years on the street and remove traffic violation enforcement from their duties. Oh and if you need belt size beyond 36 you had better be over 6 foot 4″ tall.

After that you either move into administration, prosecuting attorney, detective or forensic technician. If you can’t do that then you finish your public service career as a meter reader or traffic cop. But serious law enforcement is for the young and fit.

By the same token no one should be allowed to sit on the bench as a judge unless they spent at least a couple of years as a street cop, detective or prosecuting attorney.

Oh and if some punk doesn’t want to pull over when you order him to and thinks its cool to put the pedal to the metal on his $2000 piece of junk or stolen car then lets not chase him down the street. Lets have police force drones do that and when you catch him if he looks a little bloody and dazed… well, when you resist arrest it has consequences.

IS, they aren’t all bad, but I think saying a majority are good isn’t accurate either. 65% could be bad, that’s a majority but still leaves quite a large quantity that are “good”

my wife can change her own tire and if i ever have a daughter she won’t be driving unless she knows how to change her own too.

our definitions of “good” and “bad” must differ because from my experience the majority of politicians at all levels are bad. Even if they don’t start off bad, having the power and authority to coerce people blackens their souls.
I live south of H-burg who has Linda Thompson, grew up in the poconos with Rendell as governor, philly had rendell for a while and of course nutter, along with Corzine across the border. I have met quite a few highly questionable mayors and school board members. somehow the construction company that was own by the president of the school board got contracts that never went out for bid.
I am barely in my 30’s, and could write for days straight about the corruption I have seen and read about in the Northeast, New England, the dirty South, MidWest and along the canadian border while moving around, going to college and traveling for work.
You can have your own opinions but one good cop changing someone’s tire doesn’t redeem a professional that has become a haven for thugs, lowlifes and sociopaths.

I think a big part of it is that we live in a world where cops are practically just anonymous robots going through the motions of doing a thankless job.

Not like the not-too-distant past when there was a local cop or a cop that had your block in the city for his beat and everyone knew everyone.

Too many people….it makes the world a dangerous place. We are insulated and isolated…in our cars, much of the time. In our heads.

I’d hazard a guess if a cop knew you your whole life…and knew your parents and went to your church….and bought gas at your Dad’s gas station, that he’d be highly unlikely to pepper spray you for carrying a sign and protesting something. Just a thought.

harry p,
It must be an east coast thing for so many cops to be corrupt. Population density is about double or more on the east coast compared to the area I live in. It stands to reason that more people equals more corruption. I am certain that bad cops exist out west where I live but nothing, not news reports, my own interactions or even my own observations indicate that the majority of cops are bad. My ass does not tighten nor do I get nervous interacting with cops.

It is a sad fucking statement that so many here consider cops to more criminal than not. I consider myself fortunate that I live in a relatively free part of the country where my ass does not tighten at the mere sight of a cop. I’d fucking move if that were the case. If this is what it is truly like for you all, then you have my sympathy. No one should have to live with that shit.

What if your wife or daughter had a recent injury that prevented them from changing their own tire despite knowing how? My wife knows how to change tires as well but it is nice knowing that at least one cop still cares enough to help out.

I suppose the upshot of having so many fat cops is that they will not even be able to get out of their own way when TSHTF.

The military (I was in the Air Force for four years many moons ago, but I presume it’s across the board) has strict weight requirements as they well should. Working side-by-side in an Air Force hospital with government civilians who were subject to no such rules was an interesting experience. We had one grotesquely obese LVN who was as slow as molasses. Patients would complain about her body odor and her sitting on their beds in the wee hours of the morning to take their vital signs. It was absolutely unfair to the staff forced to work with her as you were burdened with much of her work as well as your own. For the military personnel however, If you were getting seriously overweight, you were put on a weight loss regimen and expected to lose the weight.

I see no reason other than the usual damned union protection crap/nonsense why police officers should not be expected to maintain fitness standards and reasonable weights. Obesity absolutely interferes with their performance abilities. If the above pictures are real, I was completely naive about police officers being allowed to be so grossly overweight.

Once the local police departments were corrupted by collectivism through millions in federal grants (it started under Clinton) and the Anti-Defamation League’s/Southern Poverty Law Center’s indoctrination of police forces, they became part of the cementing police state. ADL and the SPLC are providing their training manuals and indoctrinating them into anti-White propaganda. This is where the Department of Homeland Security’s depictions of terrorists as White males comes from. The Department of Homeland Security is a direct creation of those Bolshevik entities – along with ADL’s parent organization, B’nai B’rith’s, decades-long efforts.

I guess I’ll keep chipping in.

First, a retraction. I said “the difference between latinos and Americans is that all latinos know cops are shit.” That’s just wrong. I get a little worked up when I rant sometimes. Because I don’t believe nearly ALL cops are shit. The correct thing to say would have been that ‘all latinos know that cops are not to be trusted, and they are to be dealt with carefully.’ Because how do you know if the cop your dealing with is good or bad?

SSS, had you nailed me on that you’d have scored a clean goal. As is, the credibility issue is a bit silly. It’s a matter of public record what those protests were like. But you’ll have to decide who you believe. As for whether I was at them, that doesn’t really matter. Any dumbass can go to a protest. Hmm…I may have gotten excited about the cop #. My friend and I, both scientists, did a bit of sampling, to estimate the number of protestors, and figured 20-25k. We didn’t do anything special to estimate # of police, but I had the incredible (and maybe mistaken) impression that there was a cop for about every 4 protestors, which would have put it at ~5k-6k. Anyway, sorry for getting grouchy. Overworked and underslept.

The point of that anecdote is to show, when push comes to shove, who they serve. For those who don’t know, the WTO, along with the World Bank and IMF were/are tools for sucking capital out of the developing world. This same globalization crowd is now sucking the capital out of the developed world.

Everyone knows that police serve a dual function. Providing for domestic security, but also protecting the upper class from the rabble. At this point we’re just about all rabble.

If criminals were to run a country, what would be the difference between their police and a mafia protection racket? If I were a mafioso, I wouldn’t want my muscle abusing the people and damaging my reputation. I’d want them to maintain order. Order to my benefit. When they got out of hand, and messed with the peons, we’d do damage control.

99% good is absurd on the face of it. No group is 99% good. How many 99% good individuals are there? An ex-cop/prison-guard came out with that exact 99% line a few weeks ago in a conversation with me. Must be a PR invention.

Bob — I agree with your 80/20 point, to a point.

But Harry P’s point that a profession like policing attracts bad apples is unquestionably true. Human nature produces a certain portion of people, far from negligible, that like to lord it over others. And when given the opportunity to lord it over others many otherwise innocuous people can’t resist doing so and abusing their power. Someone posted the Milgram experiment.

And certainly the rampant corruption in our system must provide a fertile environment for unscrupulous police to thrive. As USS America founders, this will become much more blatant, I’d bet. Good cops may indeed have to choose sides one of these days.

It’s not black and white, ‘good’ and ‘bad’. There’s a full range, no doubt.

But bad is as bad does. And cops have been prosecuting a war against the American people for decades. The drug war. Victimless crime. That’s doing bad, in my book.

When I considered joining the military, I reflected and concluded that I could never give up my personal discretion about such an important thing as killing and being killed. The same would apply to imprisoning people, and creating all kinds of permanent negative impacts on peoples’ lives.

Many police no doubt believe the drug war is good. But that’s one of the problems with police: the profession attracts people with a philosophy of authoritarianism and control. The ones I’ve known have not been the most reflective people. Why do I want to pay to give people who are philosophically opposed to me, power over me?

I question how much we need police at all. If a standing army is bad for liberty, isn’t a standing army of cops? The huge hierarchy of LE we have in the US is certainly a means for centralizing power, which means taking power out of the peoples’ hands.

Most policing should probably be local, is my best guess, with citizens taking a lot more responsibility for their security.

————-

Last thought. I also know of a corrupt sheriff in a small town in NY. And I know of a good woman whose ability to earn a living has been permanently, unnecessarily, impacted by the police, in Washington state. This plus all my other anecdotes, when 99% are ‘good’ and overwhelmingly serving our interests?
