THESE KIDS ARE OUR FUTURE?

Hat tip to Boston Bob for the video. What exactly are they teaching our kids in high school? And these are the smart kids who made it into college. We are doomed.

My 8th grader could tell me about the nazis and what they did and stood for. Made me proud.

if i remember correctly, during the interview with the royal turd ferguson, the admin stated that he really had never written anything before TBP. (in my mind i was saying yeah right, that’s a load of bullshit.) however, as difficult as this might be to believe, knowing the writing prowess of the admin, if you pair the aforementioned factoid with the admin’s confession subsequently, here, namely that he loves to read, all makes sense. good readers make good writers, by and large. (hey, one of my favorite writers, stephen king, an asshole true enough, said as much.) the world of books is indeed a world, a vast ,almost infinite world of pleasure.

i know this is a bit off topic, but it’s friday, and i am enjoying a bourbon after being dry for 10 days.

This sums it up quite well –
“We were a free culture. This isn’t Saudi Arabia or North Korea, so save me your bullshit excuses. We have been free to read ANYTHING, learn ANYTHING, subscribe to ANYTHING. This has been the most licensed culture in all of human history. Male, female, white, brown, old, young, you name it. There hasn’t even been a military draft in this country for forty years. We have had the near-universal societal leisure to pursue and ponder anything and everything. And we have chosen Honey Boo Boo, the Kardashians, and mentally retarded giants who chase balls in stadiums like dogs. We have chosen to be ignorant losers who revel and glory in our own inhuman stupidity, when we could have chosen to be excellent.” – Ann Barnhardt

Hollow Man said: “My 8th grader could tell me about the nazis and what they did and stood for. Made me proud.”

But can he tell you the real version, or only the Disney / PC version of people who were just evil because they were German, and just went on an enormous killing spree for no reason whatsoever?

Any history of the Nazis is wildly incomplete if it omits WWI reparations, the Weimar Republic and its hyperinflation, Berlin’s decadence in the 1920’s, the extreme youth of the German “nation” as a single political entity, the widespread bias against Jews at that time in almost the entire western world (including the US, UK, France, etc.), the burning of the Reichstag (and its possible false-flag nature), and the Nazi plan to resettle living Jews outside of Europe before they implemented the concentration camps.

It would not surprise me if 80 years from now Chinese kids are taught that Americans of this era were just uniformly evil and nasty creatures, on the basis of what then appears to be similar evidence. Would you agree with that assessment today?

Those kids are no more ignorant of history than their parents…the apple and the tree thing.

Every older generation is afraid that the younger generation are a bunch of imbeciles and vice versa.

llpoh said the young are fast but don’t know what they are doing while the old are slow but they are ‘experts because they have more experience.

my granny said that young peeps live in a kind of dream world and don’t fully awaken until around age 40. which conforms with the saying, life begins at 40.

I did not understand why teachers poured all that information into my head, none of it made sense at the time but here we are some 40 to 50 years later and it comes back to me like it was just yesterday.

once you pass 40, you begin to reflect on the life you have lived and are living, many so called ‘mid life’ crises are the result of an internal reevaluation of living without a plan or purpose.

questions that never came up before all of a sudden pop up, why am I surrounded by assholes? who is pulling the strings? says who? wtf?

you pull this stunt anywhere in the usa and you will bring about the dream of Sydney J. Harris, the yutes will remember and in due time ask the very questions you posed.

This is unbelievable. I attended public schools in St Louis in the 60s, and we were expected to know the main facts of WW2 and the Holocaust by the time we finished 8th grade, and we studied the political movements of the 20th century, Communism and Fascism, and the wars and mass exterminations they inspired, in greater depth in high school….. and wondered how anyone could ever, ever forget, or allow to be forgotten, the tens of millions of deaths and epic brutality and destruction, that happened when masses of people gave their governments unlimited authority over them.

Since 1970, our schools have been “dumbed down” to the point where a kid probably learns more on the streets. Unfortunately, the things kids learn in THAT venue are not the things that are conducive to building and maintaining a free society of responsible citizens.

The worst thing about so much of our public education, and much of our private and parochial as well, is that not only does it not give students the knowledge they should have by adulthood, but, most damaging of all, kills their curiosity and thirst for knowledge, and makes them content with their ignorance and proud of their stupidity. Ignorance and bad education can be easily corrected in adulthood when a person realizes what she lacks and is determined to learn, but proud ignorance cannot.
