Hat tip to Boston Bob for the video. What exactly are they teaching our kids in high school? And these are the smart kids who made it into college. We are doomed.

  1. I honestly can’t believe what I’m seeing right now. Just when I think I can’t hate the public education system more, someone shows me something like this.

Some of the questions I don’t really think are of utmost importance, I don’t expect schools to glorify and horrify every damned detail, but god damned, the overall lack of any sort of knowledge is horrifying.

One poor bint even tied it into racism in America, despite having no fucking clue what the question was, she was still able to spout off her state mandated “White Guilt” proglotard bullshit “education.”

We are well and truly fucked. See you on the other side, I’ll be the curly haired, baby faced guy screaming obscenities and waving a corn knife wildly.

  2. Notice how most of them have an ‘answer’, that would get them through any public school common core education. “I know this”, “It is over there, right?”, “My history is a little fuzzy, can you give me a hint?”. Then there is a few honest ones, that just say, “I don’t know”.

No need for history revisionists, just do not teach it.

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

  3. amazing video, i think of myself as farily cynical but the answers (if you can call them that) surprised even me. I knew the answer to almost every question (didn’t remember the “Night of Broken Glass”)

I had a similar but much smaller scale experience recently where I work (I am 32). During a discussion over lunch regarding the economy I used the term “robber baron” and damn near everyone had no idea what I was talking about. Didn’t matter the age, one person is a recent college grad 23yo but the group also included 30, 40 and 50 yo’s. Only one other person out of a group of almost a dozen knew what I meant, she was in her early 40’s and attended private school (I did as well from K-10). I immediately texted my wife to reinforce my thoughts about private/homeschooling vs a govt education.

it leaves me with the belief that the US govt isn’t teaching about past genocides because we aren’t that far away from witnessing another one up close and personal.

on a side note, the video is great and i am hopeful all those children and young adults felt ashamed they didn’t know the answers and it emboldened them to go and find the answers. But i am also 100% against the video creator’s agenda of mandating holocaust education in PA. We don’t need the government creating any more laws mandating what is taught, we need them out of the public school system altogether. They are the problem and not part of the solution.

  4. The past is about to happen here. Some group will be blamed for the implosion of America. That will give the sheeple a reason to turn into wolfs and kill a group for something try helped create. Iris a perfect set up. Education my ass.

  5. The Minnie’s will forever be known as the “Lost Generation.” It’s not what the Boomers did that’s the problem it’s what they did not do. They did not raise the next generation, they left their children to raise themselves. Entertainment is so substitution for life skills.

  6. Hollow Man, I was thinking the same thing… how many people realize that Kristallnacht (night of broken glass) began with a German diplomat being murdered by a Jewish youth? The response was to smash windows and burn down houses of Jews.

Sound like what might have happened after Trayvon Martin? And what might still happen, next time there’s a situation like that?

Seems a lot of us remembered Santayana’s quote (which PJ accurately amended). If anyone wants to read about other similarities to where we are today — like the need to take out the political dissidents first — the wiki entry on the Holocaust is a fairly good summary of events and timing. Like Brandon Smith said just the other day, this will play out in months and years, not all at once. We need to recognize events for what they are.

  7. I think we have driven much of the innate curiosity out of many of our young people. Also so few of them read, I mean really read. I am older than you harry (about 20 years), I commute about an hour to an hour and a half to and from work 5-6 days a week working 9-10 hours a day. I work on my house on the weekends and do stuff for my wife and kids 17 and 20. I still make the time to read a book or two a month. Some junk entertainment some more serious. I recently finished Follet’s “Winter of the World” and the parallels of the 20’s, 30’s and the lead into WWII are simply amazing and frightening.

Few kids today have the attention span to read a book that involves a serious in depth look at history. I not sure if it is all the distractions or if they have never seen a parent read a book, any book. My daughter said to me last night as I read while watching the Sox game, “I love watching you read Daddy.” I wonder how many parents ever hear this. I am not sure if we have made our lives too busy and the distractions have become our lives, but if the above video is the result them many of us are doing something wrong. Drastically wrong.

  8. How do we know that Nazis killed six million Jews? Because the Soviets said so! Of course they had no ax to grind with Germany and thus could be trusted to be completely objective.

  9. The actual murder attempt was on the Ambassador I believe in France, but the Third Secretary was the one shot, by an angry Polish Jew whose family was expelled from Germany, hardly a plot of an assassin. The Germans used ( Goebbels) this to inflame the Germans people with the direct help of the SS. The murder was not staged, but much of the violence was.

  10. Yeah, and they don’t know who Henry Ford was, or Thomas Edison, or Guglielmo Marconi (the man that just happened to be responsible for the development of ‘wireless’ communications – thus making their cell phones possible), or Andrew Carnegie, or Thomas Jefferson, or Ben Franklin, et al.
But not knowing about the Holocaust is inexcusable ! This sort of shit sets us up to repeat things such as the Holocaust ! Look at the FEMA camps and cop fucks in Watertown doing illegal ‘search and seizures’ . We are DOOMED !

  11. Thinker says:

Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.

    ~ George Santayana

It would seem that that is the objective of The Controllers’ Creed

  12. Z,
I was wondering how long it would take you to chime in. The Russians suffered horrendously under the attacks of the Third Reich. but the more than made up with their own atrocities at the end of the war. The Jews suffered as much as any of them with little to fight back with at the time. No wonder they still hold a grudge.

  13. Bob, I was just going to say, no, I wasn’t aware it was staged. I know that Goebbels and Hitler were together when they got word of the assassination and turned it into an opportunity to rile up older soldiers who then demonstrated in the streets. The head of the Gestapo then wired all police units to stage violent actions and vandalism against Jewish targets throughout all of Germany, with many civilians joining in.

By the time the assassination occurred, Hitler had already created an environment of hated against the Jews and they were already being shipped to the borders. The kid who killed the diplomat was among those whose family had been torn apart by the deportations and he was taking revenge. Or so I thought.

  14. Pretty amazing really, a Jewish woman (liberal) criticizing the liberal progressive school system. Now I’ve seen everything.

No need to teach about the holocaust when it’s going to be repeated, only this time it will be corn-pone Nazis, Christians, Tea baggers, and conservatives dying, put to death by liberal progressive socialists.

  15. Thinker,
You may be closer to correct, but I have read where some let the murder take place to use as an opportunity to accelerate the suppression of the Jews. It is amazing how much wealth and business enterprises were stolen from the Jews in that period, much of it legally, as they “legislated” many of their rights away. Sound familiar.

  16. I was at the dentist a few months ago. In the waiting room with me was a young woman and her toddler. The toddler picked up a book and brought it to his mom and asked her to read it to him. The mother, all the while on her cell phone gave a look of disgust / frustration that such a request was made of her. I felt sorry for that little boy.

As I look around me and observe all of the people constantly on their cell phones I feel sorry for them too. For it is nothing but a distraction from real life. There is no substitute for reading a book. There is no substitute for a ‘quiet mind’ and the ability to think, reflect, question and learn.

  17. This video is appalling. I’m Canadian born, parochial school educated (now living in the US for 17 years) and I was able to answer all of the questions discussed not because we learned all of it in school but b/c what we did cover fostered a natural interest and desire to learn world history outside of my little Canadian universe. The audacity of a school system that promotes American exceptionalism to this extreme while keeping everyone deliberately ignorant of significant world historical events is terrifying. No spark. No interest. No dialogue. Instead, a government-approved history curriculum that is stupefyingly dry and unprovocative.
Whenever my colleagues accuse me of being alarmist, I like to muse on that last scene in “Dr. Zhivago” where Lara’s daughter isn’t even aware of her own family history, let alone what let up to her current circumstances. Then off she goes to her government-issued job in her government-issued work clothes with her government-approved boyfriend walking beside her to his government-approved job. That simple scene haunts me as that could be my kids one day in the not too distance future….

  18. I am not surprised at this video at all. When I went to school they glossed over most of history. Most people don’t even know that there have been war criminals convicted in our own borders. Very few know about the Andersonville Prison Camp from the Civil War or that its commander was hanged for war crimes. Very few know that Arlington was the private property of Robert E. Lee that was taken by the Union government. Very few know about the scorched earth policies of Sherman. I am curious of how these college kids didn’t know that the bombing of Pearl Harbor brought us into WW2 or that FDR was the president.

  19. mickthecat, Dr. Zhivago is one of my all time favorite flicks. They truly don’t make them like that anymore. I saw Gravity last Sunday and that movie is about as good as it gets these days…terrific special effects; puerile screenplay. The best part was when George Clooney died.

  20. Admin,
Those were the words I was looking for. I cannot emphasize enough the parallels that I see in the pre-WWII decades and the last 2 to 3 decades. Currency debasement, moral debasement, consolidation of empires, legislating away rights, right under peoples eyes. All the time we are enjoying our fancy new phonograph, playing great jazz tunes, drinking our illegal hooch, or is it staring at our Iphones, listening to Pandora or latest App, and taking our prescribed pharmaceuticals. I will say it has been a hell of a ride, but I am afraid it is not going to end well.

  21. Greetings,

I taught History & Government for two years in our public school system. It took two years for that system to drive me to despair and leave the profession. Best move I ever made though.

My Seniors (we tested them) could only read and comprehend at a 3rd Grade Level. They simply could not read their assigned texts nor comprehend much of what I had to say. They 100% lacked any foundation necessary for any higher learning. Therefore, it didn’t matter what I did, what I said or how much I “really” wanted them to learn. It just wasn’t possible.

When I suggested to my superiors that I stop the facade of teaching history and focus on the immediate need for some basic literacy, I was transferred to an even worse inner city school as punishment. Fun stuff.

You can see it in these kids as well. I’m guessing that since they are in “college” that they can probably read at the level of a 6th grader but not any better. The PTB want it that way. Don’t kid yourself into believing anything else.

    1. “The notion that a radical is one who hates his country is naïve and usually idiotic. He is, more likely, one who likes his country more than the rest of us, and is thus more disturbed than the rest of us when he sees it debauched. He is not a bad citizen turning to crime; he is a good citizen driven to despair.”

      ― H.L. Mencken

  22. HM,
This meshes nicely with Admin’s Fourth Turning. I would not be surprised if many of the German youths have very vague ideas of the holocaust. Generationally they are quite detached from the horrors of WWII. I am sure they hear stories and are taught more history than our inattentive youths, but their country even with all of its strengths will suffer as much as ours in this current turning. The key is how will they react, and how will they come out the other end.

  23. This is not or should not be a surprise to anyone who is paying attention to current events.

What is more disturbing than this is the slide into communism this country is experiencing and the Bolshevik tactics that are being used to do it.

Where are the people on this? They are the older population in this country that are living in the same ignorance that these high school students are expressing.

Pirate Jo’s statement comes to mind: “Those who don’t forget the past are doomed to watch everyone else repeat it.”

Those who are doomed to watch are all the immigrants that escaped eastern Europe after WW2 asking for asylum here; escaping communism imposed on their countries by Soviet Russia; their sons and daughters that were told the truth of communism, and historians that also read the truth that is out there for anyone to read.

Bolshevism is a disease of the mind that causes the people under its influence to become uncompromising and destructive. The most recent demonstration was the fight on the debt ceiling and the budget by the democrats (Bolsheviks). Compare this with the actions of the Bolsheviks in the second provisional government of Russia after the fall of the czar. The Democrats as the Bolsheviks are the agents of destruction. They will continue to spend until the crash of the economy and the government as we know it; then when that happens they will sweet talk the people to let them take complete control with promises of utopia by stripping the rich of their wealth. Then when they have total control they will use the raw force of the new national police to control the people; violently if needed. And after the takeover spying on those that oppose them will be easy now that the NSA has developed the necessary methods.

Right now the people have very little will. The general population is uninformed and very susceptible to the propaganda being fed to them. They are very fearful of losing their material things and their spending habits. This is how the Democrats (Bolsheviks) will control them when the crash comes. We now have one party running the government. The Bolsheviks in this controlling party come from both the Democrat and Republican Parties. Many government workers have become Bolsheviks by the militarism of their ranks and training. Our high schools and Universities are producing the next generation of government agents that will continue the Bolshevik revolution.

Yes; there has been a revolution going on in this country for some time now; and it does not involve the liberty movement: It is Bolshevism. It is succeeding because they have been gradually occupying one position of power after another, they control the media, and they are masters of deceit, slander, and intimidation through fear.

And yes; these kids are our future. But as Bolshevism rose up in Russia it also eventually fizzled out because the Bolshevik way is also self destructive because its substance is destructive; first to its foes, then to itself.

But the American people have to live though this experience to again acquire the taste for freedom. We are heading there and nothing seems to be in the cards to change this path. Mr. Putin must be having a good chuckle over this self destructive path America is on. And who better to lead the path than Mr. Obama himself; not even a natural born american, as his real birth certificate would no doubt prove. But we are served fraud and our judges tell us to swallow it. See how far down the tubes america has slid? Now sliding into the arms of communism.

McCarthy was right. And so was John Beaty in his book, “The Iron Curtain Over America”.

  24. The only one I didn’t know was about the MS St. Louis. The rest were (to me) easy questions.

We are so fucking doomed. This video wipes out any hope I had that people will remember how WWII and the Holocaust happened, and therefore recognize our creeping fascism and do something to stop it.

  25. @Zara: seriously? The number is not exactly 6,000,000.00, but it is certainly in the millions, and plus or minus 10-20% doesn’t affect the magnitude of what happened.

I will say that what constantly irritates me is the single minded focus on the JEWISH Holocaust, when in fact the Nazis killed all sorts of people, particularly Russians (generally) and any middle class or above Poles – and that’s just for starters.

And people just about always leave out the other genocides around the same time – Soviets killing virtually anyone of German ethnicity (including their own citizens), killing nearly all German POWs, huge numbers of German civilians in the conquered areas, the Soviet invasions of Finland that killed a large portion of the entire Finnish population, and enormous numbers of their own ethnic Russians, Ukrainians, etc. The Soviets are at least as guilty of genocide as the Nazis, but that is rarely brought up. Don’t get me started on the Japanese either, whose treatment of all non-Japanese made the Nazis look downright polite in comparison. Even the US/UK treatment of POWs after the war was criminal.

  26. To NickelThrower, to reinforce what you describe, might I refer TBP readers to the interview series with John Taylor Gatto, The Ultimate History Lesson. on the Tragedy and Hope website.

I do believe that it was Mr. Quinn who posted this quote just the other day:

“The most worthwhile form of education is the kind that puts the educator inside you, as it were, so that the appetite for learning persists long after the external pressure for grades and degrees has vanished. Otherwise you are not educated; you are merely trained.” –Sydney J. Harris

  27. Thunderbird says: “Those who are doomed to watch are all the immigrants that escaped eastern Europe after WW2 asking for asylum here; escaping communism imposed on their countries by Soviet Russia”

the most outspoken man in these parts is a russian immigrant. he has been a thorn in the side of the good ol’ boys around here for 20 yrs. he is at every county meeting, takes out full paid ads in the local rag, runs for county commissioner. he has been alerting us for 20 yrs that where we are headed is exactly what he fled from, but alas, to 90% of this county, he is just that old kook.

  28. She’s bitching about a problem her ethnic group help create.

The kids aren’t stupid, they’ve been shortchanged. Typical of our liberal public education system that the Jews are often at the forefront of supporting, even though they don’t send their kids to public schools because they know how bad they are.

Reap what you sow, you hypocrite.

In Europe, the Jews are some of the biggest supporters of open borders and Muslim immigration. Ironically the Muslims repay that generosity by Jews and the Muzzie leaders openly state that they will in time slaughter all the Jews. Yet the Jews keep saying welcome aboard even though the Muzzies want them dead.

Here in the U.S. the Jews are also the main supporters of open borders. That is also bringing in lots of Muzzies who hate Jews and minorities who don’t care about the Jews. These groups care about their own people like any sane ethnicity should.

And the thing I don’t like about what she is doing is that it’s Jew focused as usual, like they were the only ones who were slaughtered. About 20 million others died as well. The Slavs and others were equally butchered and enslaved but nobody gives a shit. They don’t have the Hollywood PR machine to tell their story.

  29. Being unaware of the Holocaust is unfortunate, but being unaware of the Milgram Experiment is orders of magnitude worse, for it is Obedience to Authority that drives such catastrophes.

  30. How ironic that they are asking the students if they know about the death of Jews under Hitler and they are not asked if they know about the 30 million plus deaths under Stalin and communism.

I am not against reminding people of genocide but talk about the most horrific ones too. Especially since this country is sliding into the system these atrocities were committed under.

  31. Ditto, Thunderbird.

Somehow 6 million Jews (among 11 million or so total) is something special out of the 200,000,000 or so murdered by their own governments (democide) during the last 120 years or so.

The Holocaust was bad. It was, however, just (approximately) 3% of the total.

At the end of the day, millions of deaths are just a statistic. The one that matters is the death of someone about whom you care…or yourself.

Every person who dies was probably loved by someone. This is what makes political murder so evil. “Collateral Damage” is a way of verbally sanitizing murder.

  32. Okay you don’t know about the Holocaust, I get it. But you also think Europe is a country….and that Amsterdam is a country… World War 2 was 300 years ago…

    They can vote…

We are living under the tyranny of the stupid…

  33. …and the daily genocide of Americans through abortion…in excess of 50 MILLION.

“The world’s great civilizations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to Liberty; from Liberty to abundance; from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependence, from dependence back again into bondage.” –Alexander Tyler, Scottish advocate, judge and historian (1770)

  34. @skinbag, who said “Guglielmo Marconi (the man that just happened to be responsible for the development of ‘wireless’ communications – thus making their cell phones possible)”.

Actually it was Nicola Tesla who invented wireless communications.

“According to the fantastic PBS piece on Tesla (, the Supreme Court had awarded the patent to Tesla merely to avoid having to pay any royalties to the Marconi Corporation, which was suing the US government for patents used during World War I.”

Tesla said of Marconi: “Marconi is a good fellow. Let him continue. He is using seventeen of my patents.”

  35. in 1943, only months after his death, the United States Supreme Court finally gave inventor Nikola Tesla recognition as the first to truly conceive of and patent the principles of radio (or what he called ‘World Telegraphy’). They struck down Marconi’s fundamental patent.

  36. “The later stages of World War II, and the period after the end of that war, saw the forced migration of millions of German nationals (Reichsdeutsche) regardless of ethnicity, and ethnic Germans (Volksdeutsche) regardless of which citizenship, from various European states and territories, mostly into the areas which would become post-war Germany and post-war Austria …. about 2.5 million died. ”

And that’s exactly how I came to be born in Austria …. 2 ethnic German parents forced to flee from their birth-country.

Like several others here, I have no problem with teaching about the holocaust (whatever the actual number, Zara) …. but Jews seemingly always and only want to focus on THEIR travails, to the exclusion of all others. Maybe that’s natural.

  37. Some of the blame MUST be borne by the students.

Good lord, if they had the Internet when I was a kid, I’d be the smartest sumvabitch in the room at all times.

So much info out there kids! Stop tweeting, twating, and twerking … and do some fuckin’ research, aka learning.

  38. Oh, shit, I agree with Stucky. When it comes to my generation, they are a disappointment in the sense that we have the grandest collection of data in their hands and won’t use it. The worst part is that I remember having to use encyclopedia for school projects. Lugging that heavy shit around and spending hours jump back and forth from multiple books. Now I just have to go to wikipedia and just hop back and forth from pages. There is still plenty of things in the world that I do not know about. Now I am priding myself on learning more Math and Science since my high school and college were totally worthless. I had terrible experiences in college for math and science because all my professors were foreigners and I couldn’t understand what the hell they were saying. But, this is the situation we live in.

  39. “Oh, shit, I agree with Stucky.” ———- Clammy

The Road To Enlightenment begins with small steps, grasshopper-ette.

  40. if i remember correctly, during the interview with the royal turd ferguson, the admin stated that he really had never written anything before TBP. (in my mind i was saying yeah right, that’s a load of bullshit.) however, as difficult as this might be to believe, knowing the writing prowess of the admin, if you pair the aforementioned factoid with the admin’s confession subsequently, here, namely that he loves to read, all makes sense. good readers make good writers, by and large. (hey, one of my favorite writers, stephen king, an asshole true enough, said as much.) the world of books is indeed a world, a vast ,almost infinite world of pleasure.

i know this is a bit off topic, but it’s friday, and i am enjoying a bourbon after being dry for 10 days.

  41. This sums it up quite well –
“We were a free culture. This isn’t Saudi Arabia or North Korea, so save me your bullshit excuses. We have been free to read ANYTHING, learn ANYTHING, subscribe to ANYTHING. This has been the most licensed culture in all of human history. Male, female, white, brown, old, young, you name it. There hasn’t even been a military draft in this country for forty years. We have had the near-universal societal leisure to pursue and ponder anything and everything. And we have chosen Honey Boo Boo, the Kardashians, and mentally retarded giants who chase balls in stadiums like dogs. We have chosen to be ignorant losers who revel and glory in our own inhuman stupidity, when we could have chosen to be excellent.” – Ann Barnhardt

  42. Hollow Man said: “My 8th grader could tell me about the nazis and what they did and stood for. Made me proud.”

But can he tell you the real version, or only the Disney / PC version of people who were just evil because they were German, and just went on an enormous killing spree for no reason whatsoever?

Any history of the Nazis is wildly incomplete if it omits WWI reparations, the Weimar Republic and its hyperinflation, Berlin’s decadence in the 1920’s, the extreme youth of the German “nation” as a single political entity, the widespread bias against Jews at that time in almost the entire western world (including the US, UK, France, etc.), the burning of the Reichstag (and its possible false-flag nature), and the Nazi plan to resettle living Jews outside of Europe before they implemented the concentration camps.

It would not surprise me if 80 years from now Chinese kids are taught that Americans of this era were just uniformly evil and nasty creatures, on the basis of what then appears to be similar evidence. Would you agree with that assessment today?

  43. llpoh said the young are fast but don’t know what they are doing while the old are slow but they are ‘experts because they have more experience.

my granny said that young peeps live in a kind of dream world and don’t fully awaken until around age 40. which conforms with the saying, life begins at 40.

I did not understand why teachers poured all that information into my head, none of it made sense at the time but here we are some 40 to 50 years later and it comes back to me like it was just yesterday.

once you pass 40, you begin to reflect on the life you have lived and are living, many so called ‘mid life’ crises are the result of an internal reevaluation of living without a plan or purpose.

questions that never came up before all of a sudden pop up, why am I surrounded by assholes? who is pulling the strings? says who? wtf?

you pull this stunt anywhere in the usa and you will bring about the dream of Sydney J. Harris, the yutes will remember and in due time ask the very questions you posed.

  44. This is unbelievable. I attended public schools in St Louis in the 60s, and we were expected to know the main facts of WW2 and the Holocaust by the time we finished 8th grade, and we studied the political movements of the 20th century, Communism and Fascism, and the wars and mass exterminations they inspired, in greater depth in high school….. and wondered how anyone could ever, ever forget, or allow to be forgotten, the tens of millions of deaths and epic brutality and destruction, that happened when masses of people gave their governments unlimited authority over them.

Since 1970, our schools have been “dumbed down” to the point where a kid probably learns more on the streets. Unfortunately, the things kids learn in THAT venue are not the things that are conducive to building and maintaining a free society of responsible citizens.

The worst thing about so much of our public education, and much of our private and parochial as well, is that not only does it not give students the knowledge they should have by adulthood, but, most damaging of all, kills their curiosity and thirst for knowledge, and makes them content with their ignorance and proud of their stupidity. Ignorance and bad education can be easily corrected in adulthood when a person realizes what she lacks and is determined to learn, but proud ignorance cannot.

  45. I wil ask him Persnickety thanks for helping me with the kiddo. That’s where the future is. To bad he owes half a million already
