T4C, if Zappa wasn’t a zoroastrian, he should have been.

T4C says:

“The way of life suggested by Zoroastrianism is based on achieving six ideals: a good mind, principled living, independence, serenity, wholeness, undying spirit.”

dammit, that’s Christianity, you fuckers are Christians and don’t even know it.

“Why does it hurt when I pee?” Frank Zappa.

And yeah, I think Frank was quite the great mind, but he had one hell of a sense of humor too. RIP, dude.

Zara, were you the TBP’er who was headed to that commune near the Oregon coast? If so, did you visit them? What was your opinion? I read enough about that group that it would be off my short list.

I give bb the nod as the resident hater on TBP. Call me crazy but sometimes I think bb and juan are one in the same or they could both just be aliases of the Stuckster. It’s hard to know on the Platform sometimes.

IS, yep. I did the three day visit thing. We sort of shared similar views on what is fucked up about regular society. We did not share a plan for surviving it. They are cash poor but resource rich (they own hundreds of acres of virgin timberland). When I suggested logging some of it to provide the capital to improve the “infrastructure” the response I got was akin to saying, “hey, lets go out for some KFC!”

Whatever. Let them make pottery in their yurts while the barn falls down (literally).

These quotes are why the “Establishment” tried so hard to destroy and discredit Zappa. He actually encourage people to THINK, and use their brains. Those two attributes are what the “Establishment” tries so hard to destroy in their MSM and govt mandated schools.

20 years later we call this “unplugging from The Matrix” and taking the “red pill”. Or, drum roll please, reading TBP.

Zappa was a genius, and a prophet. There is probably a “Book of Zappa” out there, on the lines of the “Book of Poo”, heh, if not, his heirs should write it.

@T4C: The self-directed actions of Zoroastrianism is why it fell to Islam. Islam is all about submission to the will of Allah (and their holy book), as well as destroying anybody that doesn’t agree with you. There is, seemingly, an inherent tendency in human beings to bend at the knee, to unthinkingly accept some dogma to rule every aspect of your life, to rely on others to tell you how to think. Thinking, being independent, being respectfull of others is HARD. Easier to just follow the herd – especially when there are spoils at the other end. And that is why, my friends, the human race is ultimately doomed. Because there are a hell of a lot more people in the herd category than in the independent one. Zappa knew this. LIke I said. A genius and a prophet.

Zara, thanks. After you brought them up here I did some reading out of curiosity. There was not much to read but I quickly came to the conclusion that the population had too many wanna be chiefs and not enough indians. That’s probably not the best way to describe it but my work ethic and sense of purpose would probably clash with most residents. I got the impression that the place had passed it’s prime.

I know you are now in TX but what was/is your fallback plan? (If you don’t mind me asking.)

IS, I work for a french engineering firm. The gig came through a headhunter. I’d never heard of them and was less than enthusiastic about moving to Texas, but they literally made an offer I couldn’t refuse so now I have to learn french. It appears for now that the ultimate denouement of the US empire is a bit further off than I had previously imagined. My plan for now is to gather and hold and keep my options open. Houston is an interesting place, but is not anywhere you’d want to be when SHTF.

It is claimed that Zoroastrianism was very influential towards the creation of Christianity…apparently it was one of the early monotheistic religions. There are probably less than 500,000 left practicing these days. Pretty resilient. Perhaps we could have another Great Awakening but this time with Zoroastrianism and not pay to play religion.

There is a sizeable zoroastrian community here in Houston, comprised of both Persian expats and Indian Parsis. They don’t have a consecrated fire temple (there are none in the US) but they do own a community center. I was thinking of checking it out sometime.

haha, i thought a couple of times of ‘coming out’ as bb. but then my imagination got real crazy and i dropped the idea. you’re off base, bro. of the three you mentioned, Stucky has the bigger dick and bb is the bigger dick. I don’t like to get involved in shit-slinging unless it’s with my buddy llpoh. I was being silly up there when I called those fuckers “christian”. my comment was meant to convey the idea that those things are christian values.

bb likes to warn peeps of impending hell while at the same time fucking up with hate. I don’t know anybody here and like to believe everyone here is a cool dude or chick.

really, I don’t give a shit if you go to hell (it’s your call) or even if you rag on me for whatever wild hare you may get up your ass, my momma loves me, even if you don’t.

I will keep adding some bible insights as i see fit, and, I_S, you and Muck keep up the good fight, eh? glad to hear from you!

never cared for zappa and the mothers of invention but he is the pride of av high school. we can blame him for that valley girl song that got everyone talking that stupid language. (the beautiful blonde still speaks that way at 53 years of age) must have been a burn to him for popularizing a vernacular that he meant to satirize

“The Muffin Man is seated at the table of the utility muffin research kitchen.
Reaching for an oversized chrome spoon, he gathers an intimate quantity of dried muffin remnant,
and putting his scapula aside, he proceeds to dump these inside of his shirt.
He turns to us and speaks: Some people like cup cakes better, I for one care less for them.
Arrogantly twisting the sterile canvas snoot of a fully charged icing and ointment utensil, he puts forth are a quarter ounce green rosette near the top of a dense but radiant muffin of his own design.
later he says: Some people like cup cakes exclusively, while myself, I say there is nothing so exalted on the face of god’s great earth as that prince of foods, the Muffin!”
– Zappa The Muffin Man

Funny thing, I owned the album on 8-track back in the seventies. I have not heard the song in ~35 years, and yet I can recall the lyrics verbatim from memory. That is some good poetry.

Now where the fuck are my car keys…
