My immediate household has no one enlisted in the FSA but like most everyone there are family members who are in it but they dont think they are because they “paid into the system” or do a “good job” for the govt at some level. I never tire of openly laugh at this statement during family gatherings.

Offer up something that directly refutes the IQ test results and the IQ tests themselves instead of “I’m asshurt at how IQ tests don’t square with my egalitarian worldview, so they must be wrong”.

I tend to believe that IQ is not the only relevant factor. For instance, even IF a Bushman had a 54 IQ compared to the average European, the knowledge they DO have is sufficient for them to survive in their environment and social systems. Take a European and plunk them down in Bushman territory and see how long they make it. Learning and what is learned is only relevant according to circumstance.

I find all these studies “confirming” nature is more important than nurturing marginally helpful and the implied message somewhat troublesome. Suppose they find a gene or combination of genes expressed in higher proportion in psychopaths, sociopaths, politicians (maybe I’m being redundant), etc. Does this excuse them? Since you could argue, and no doubt someone might, it’s not all their fault. Then we become slaves to our genes, we have no real choice. Is the avg american kid genetically a dumbass or maybe their environment is shitty? Let’s run genetic studies on all of them.

A large amount of genetic expression can be turned on or off by processes like methylation, histone modification, etc. Where DNA is not actually modified. This means our genes are capable or great change. Besides shared upbringing and environmental factors according to the study are 48% (both actually external factors) That is a very large number of variables. Reseach has shown that the microenvironment of an embryo can influence long term changes in genetic expression, and changes in expression occur even in monozygotic twins over time. A process called epigenetic “drift”.

IQ measures raw intelligence, not what someone has learned to survive. You’re comparing apples and Cape Buffalo. A 59 IQ retard can be taught to scrub toilets and take the bus, and a parrot can be taught Klingon.

You are making the specious argument based upon fairness. There is a reason it is called Social Security INSURANCE. It wasn’t supposed to be a retirement plan for people who chose not to save. The original age at which you could collect of 65 years old was 3 years over the life expectancy in the 1930s.

LYNN, Richard, 2006. Race Differences in Intelligence: An Evolutionary Analysis. Augusta, GA: Washington Summit Publishers.
    http://www.thefullwiki.org/Richard_Lynn

Lynn’s 2006 Race Differences in Intelligence: An Evolutionary Analysis[12] is the largest review of the global cognitive ability data. The book organizes the data by nine global regions,[13] surveying 620 published studies from around the world, with a total of 813,778 tested individuals.

Lynn’s meta-analysis lists the average IQ scores of East Asians (105), Europeans (99), Inuit (91), Southeast Asians and Amerindians each (87), Pacific Islanders (85), Middle Easterners (including South Asians and North Africans) (84), East and West Africans (67), Australian Aborigines (62) and Bushmen and Pygmies (54).[14][15][16]

Lynn has previously argued that nutrition is the best supported environmental explanation for variation in the lower range,[17] and a number of other environmental explanations have been advanced (see below). Ashkenazi Jews average 107-115 in the U.S. and Britain, but lower in Israel.[18] Lynn argues the surveyed studies have high reliability in the sense that different studies give similar results, and high validity in the sense that they correlate highly with performance in international studies of achievement in mathematics and science and with national economic development.

Following Race Differences in Intelligence, Lynn co-authored a further paper[19] along the lines of IQ and the Wealth of Nations with Jaan Mikk (Šiauliai University, Lithuania) – in press in Intelligence – and has co-authored a second book on the subject with Vanhanen, IQ and Global Inequality, which was published later in 2006.[20]

Lynn’s most recent book is The Global Bell Curve: Race, IQ, and Inequality Worldwide, published in June 2008.[21] In describing the book, Lynn says “it concludes that IQ is a key explanatory variable for the social sciences, analogous to gravity in physics.”[22] It was re

Based on the idiocy of your comments, you surely never made a salary that went to the SS limit. I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and say you made an average salary for the 45 years you paid into social security. That means you have paid in approximately $150,000.

If you receive the average yearly payout of $15,000, then you will breakeven at 75 years old. The life expectancy of a 65 year old is 20 years. Therefore, the average 65 year old will collect approximately $300,000 for the $150,000 they contributed over their lifetime.

    No it is not.

It’s called Social Security Insurance Fund. It was never meant to be an investment fund. If you die one day before reaching the age of 65, you get nothing from your 45 years of contributing. Just like if you die one day after your term life insurance policy expires.

You are confusing fairness and opportunity cost with the math behind a ponzi scheme.

I think you believe I’m arguing in favor of something I’m not. I don’t think SS should exist. I’d love to have that money not taken out of my paycheck. I would use it more efficiently than the government.

The math of Social Security simply does not work. You cannot payout twice the amount that was paid in to everyone in America, especially since Congress already spent the money and there are only IOUs in the lockbox.

This conversation is obviously going nowhere and has gone nowhere, at least from my point of view. Perhaps a future conversation on a different topic will be more productive.

Your comments lead me to believe you are a dim bulb. If you visited for years and have the fucking gall to call me a lefty, you are truly fucked up in the head. Your comprehension skills must be on the level of a 3 year old.

I read everything you’ve stated. I continue to spout facts and basic mathematical conclusions. I’ve got you figured out and you have nothing other than ideologue bullshit to back up your drivel.

Even though you will get back twice as much as you contributed to SS, you are pissed off at lefties like me for calling you part of the Free Shit Army.

Boomers like yourself only give a fuck about themselves and how much they deserve. I know your kind.

I highly doubt that any future conversations with you will be productive. It requires two people who know what the fuck they are talking about and you don’t fit the mold.

You were called a Lefty by me for pissing on George Bush and Reagan. Read for comprehension and in context please. I also referred to Lefty Finance on account of you asinine SS math. It is absurd as the Left is.

You know nothing about me or my Libertarian views.

I will not get back twice as much, unlike you I know how to add and subtract in REAL terms.

I have two daughters and seven grandchildren, so I care plenty about the young and their future.

You are clueless about economics, finance, monetary history, hopefully my insights on such matters will enlighten you.

I have higher hopes for our future conversations. Talking to someone without my smarts is not a problem for me, I am very patient and a good teacher. Being surrounded by ass holes most of my life makes it an easier more mundane task than it would be for someone like you.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 1 Thumb down 8

Just started snowing here on the south shore. We expect 6 to12 inches, my daughter helped me unload the snow blower from the truck, weighs about 250 lbs, she is one strong young woman. Went to DD before picking up the tree, time to drag it in and wrestle it into the stand. Merry Christmas and drive carefully.

Anyone who thinks Bush and Reagan represent Libertarian views is a deluded moron.

Here’s a tip for you Sherlock. I know you think you are a brilliant sage. Try reading David Stockman’s book – The Great Deformation.

Surprisingly it isn’t about your pea brain. Your beloved Reagan and Bush are scorched by the facts presented by a true libertarian – Mr. Stockman.

There is nothing more revolting than an arrogant prick Boomer who thinks they know what they are talking about, when they can’t even understand basic economics.

It doesn’t surprise me you have been surrounded by assholes most of your life, because they tend to gather in flocks.

Pompous Boomers always have an answer, and it is always wrong. But you keep on believing your smart, and not dumb like everyone says.

I hereby award you the first annual Fredo Award

I’m smart! Not like everybody says… like dumb… I’m smart and I want respect!

There you go again spouting untruths again and being a child.

I never said Bush and Regan were Libertarians. you just made that up because you were proven wrong again.

I said you pissed on them, which is what Lefties do, thus my retort to you as a fucking Lefty.

I have read Mr Stockman’s book, it is an excellent overview of the problems we face. It is but another reason I would like my SS contributions handed back to me and soon.

I am not pompous at all, I just appear to be that way to the Dim only.

If you could stay on topic, read for comprehension and accuracy, accept the fact that I am smarter than you gracefully; it’s just a simple truth that you had nothing to do with so relax. Then perhaps we can get somewhere with your education.

As to Fredo, my younger brother, I suggest that you keep personal Family matters to me Harpo. Dumb Harps should “Sleep With The Fish”. Be careful Potato Head.
This was a joke line in case you didn’t get it as usual Spud Head.

I love how Boomers love revisionist history. They even have the gall to try to revise their comments in this same thread. Now gather yourself and go back to the top of the thread and see that you called me a Lefty and I had never said a word about Bush or Reagan. I never mentioned Reagan at all. You dumbass.

You are one dense motherfucker. Debating with a deluded Boomer is like debating with a retarded shit eating monkey. I apologize to all retarded shit eating monkeys who I may have offended.

You’ll get your SS contributions shoved up your ass soon. You’ll be howling about how unfair you’ve been treated. Boomers are great at howling and condemning the young.

I love watching faux libertarians make a case for themselves to get back twice as much as they paid into the SS system, while also supporting military spending of $1 trillion per year policing the world.

You may have read Stockman’s book, but you surely didn’t learn anything.

Let me guess. You voted for Romney in 2012 and McCain in 2008. A true libertarian like you never compromises. Right?

The gibberish at the end of your inane comment was indecipherable. I guess really really smart people like yourself have a much higher level sense of humor.

Calm down man. If you are actually drawing a SS check, you are lucky. You focus on what’s been stolen from you. Yeah, that sucks. But you’re the one eating the last cookie out of the cookie jar. You’re in the presence of a group of people who’ve all had money stolen from them, but you might be the only one in the room to get anything. My generation–we’re coming to terms with paying in and getting nothing. Good luck with what you’ve got.

Hi Asimpleman, I hear you and sympathize with your point of view. Realizing I am one the last at least getting something back is, as you say, is better than getting nothing back.

My fear is that the system will end up cutting out all those who have any assets, and be turned over to the left and their food stamp nation under the old guise of fairness. Just another redistribution of the wealth scheme to buy votes and entrench the Dems. It has already gone that way partially and is being means tested already. In other words unless you retire a penniless ass hole that pissed away all his money you will get zilch. Same ol same ol.

    No shit Sherlock!

OF COURSE that was the PLAN!

Unless you want me to believe that a multi-person organization made up primarily of college graduates (back from when that actually meant something!), couldn’t understand simple math?

Anyone that had the guts to sit down and do the math quickly came to the conclusion that near the end it would have to go exactly like that.

But, don’t worry too much, first they will steal the “extra” savings of all us poor schmucks that were dumb enough to believe the 401ks and IRAs were a good deal as an alternative to having a pension gifted by will of showing up.

Once us “rich” fucks have our life savings confiscated, then we will be declared “rich,” while having SS gifted to others.

Then the recipients will be cut again, cause those gubment pensions will have to paid, after all “they promised!”

Reality is that if you are only surviving based on gubment payments or tax credits, there is going to come a day – sooner more likely than later – where you won’t be surviving.

Shit is fucked up and bullshit. Enjoy your current creature comforts and realize your grandbabies will never be so lucky.

“After you graduate, the US will be in the thick of the “generational theft” issue; here’s a heads-up on what this is all about. Generational accounting is an estimate of who benefits from and who pays for government programs. As shown in the first chart, the average person in the generation that turned 65 this year received $327 thousand dollars more in lifetime government benefits than they paid in Federal taxes. On the other hand, children born in the future (e.g., yours) will have a lifetime deficit on this basis of -$421 thousand dollars. If it sounds unfair, it is.”

Damn man, at this point I almost feel bad for you. Almost, but not quite. I do so love when a Boomer pulls their head out of the sand and the Mack Truck of reality crushes their delicate sensibilities.

Its funny, they always think the same way, its like there is some sort of Boomer news letter out there that tells them how to think.

Medicare and SS are both ponzi schemes. The massive number of boomers coupled with government/corporate corruption erased damn near all the wiggle room the boomers had built up, and the GenXers and Millenials won’t be enough to keep it afloat.

Medicare alone is fixing to KO the economy, let alone the coup de gras that is Social Security.

How the fuck you don’t see it is beyond me.
