Edward Snowden is a true PATRIOT on par with Samuel Adams, Thomas Paine, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington. Just like the original founding fathers, he has risked everything in his effort to make this a country we can be proud to say we live in. Comparing Snowden with the likes of Washington and Adams is a bit of a stretch, but I do respect the guy and his actions to put the brakes on unconstitutional activities of the federal government. In a recent interview, he was quoted as saying, “For me, in terms of personal satisfaction, the mission’s already accomplished. I already won.”

Snowden’s action gave us one of the few bright moments in a time of continued debasement of the American political system. What outrageous bullshit spews from our government ! National security, my ass. The secret spying on citizens is simply a tool of the criminalized political class, as handy for stealing corporate secrets as it is for repressing dissent. If the kleptocrats in Washington had enough imagination to actually provide real security for the United States, they would have been focusing on organizing an international response to the unfolding disaster at Fukishima, as grave a threat to the US as has ever existed. What ? Did you say the US can’t intervene in another nations affairs? What a crock of shit that is. We intervene all over the world when the ruling class sees something it wants to steal, like mineral resources or oil. Confronted with an actual emergency, a real threat to the nation, our “national security” experts can’t even lift a finger. The part where youtube takes the video down is the part that gets my blood boiling more than anything else.
Ok, so I get that the govt cronies are going to hate Snowden and his message, obviously he is on the other side, I expect them to try to rationalize why he is a traitor and what needs to be done to them. I laugh at their attempt to turn him into a villain.
But why does youtube have to get involved at all? Why does youtube care? Why should youtube, which is owned by google take this video down? Why has google chosen sides and why did they choose the side of the autoritarians?
That is the part that is infuriating and confusing at the same time.
Either they are on the same side as the gubmint, which doesn’t make any sense to me, there whole business model is about dissemation of information and allowing people to create videos voicing a whole range of views.
Or google has been captured by the gubmint through veiled threats into helping them fight their war on liberty and freedom?
Seriously companies like Google, Yahoo and others need to come forward and let it be known unequivacally whose side they are on. If they are being held hostage through threats and hidden laws about what they can allow and what they can’t, then they need to speak up loud and clear, and let the American people know EXACTLY what is going on.
It’s pretty obvious, but until these internet companies make a stand against the gubmint then they will continue to have to abide by these censorship policies.
Meanwhile, the gubmint gets around the first amendment protecting free speech by using these companies to do their dirty work.
Speak up GOOGLE, speak up YAHOO – whose side are you on? We want to know.
If you choose to be on their side fine, I will boycott all your products, if you choose to be on the side of the people then let the people help you fight against tyranny.

I think the originating news organization (British Channel 4) slapped a copyright block on the video, JJ. Not YouTube or Google’s fault. They had to comply.
