1 DEGREE

It was one degree this morning when I left my house for work. It took an hour and fifteen minutes to get in, for no particular reason. I’m sick and tired of winter. I hate global warming scientists for being wrong. My blue car is white from the salt. I spend my evenings trying to dodge enormous potholes that can destroy my tiny car. I’ve spent a week deleting shit off this website. I’m tired, cranky, cold and pissed off. I need to go to an island in the sun.

I feel your pain, kinda.

We actually had SLEET and SNOW in Houston on Tuesday in the morning and you would have thought that the world had stopped turning, Good Lord. All the schools closed, the govt services, the hospitals went into emergency staffing. ***cue eyeball rolling***.

What a bunch of weather pussies. People didn’t freak out this much when Hurricane Ike flattened Galveston then roared right up I45 in 2008 and took out 98% of the electrical grid.

According to my idiot brother, all this cold weather is really “weather instability” and that is called by global warming so all fossil fuels need to be outlawed, and no wood burning either.

I guess we can keep warm by the large volume of hot air spewed by the Al Gores of the world.

It is supposed to be 79 degrees here in the east valley today. The jasmine and honeysuckle are in bloom and the biids are starting to build their nests. My last gas bill was $78 for heat, hot water and cooking. Global warming is good! And remember, it’s OK to say Fuck you Dave.

When Obama and his EPA go apeshit with carbon regulations (starting Nov 5, 2014), I’ll be tempted to respond by starting wildfires. I’ll suppress the urge, given the risks, but maybe a coordinated National Campfire Month would send a message (and help the supposed warming along). Ten million Al Gore haters having backyard campfires every day for a month could probably generate a sufficiently annoying carbon cloud.

At least you don’t live in Atlanta. CNN spent the majority of yesterday and a good portion this morning detailing the Terrible, Horrible, Deadly, Dreadful, Shocking, Lousy, Horrid, Grim, Heinous, and generally shitty conditions there …………….. two inches of snow.

@Admin – I have uninsulated cinder block walls and I’m on the north end of the building. The lab was built as an addition, and the ductwork was done by the lowest bidder so head doesn’t distribute.

Depending on where you are standing it can be as warm as 65 degrees, or as cold as upper 20s.

The constant temp. shift just from walking around the lab makes me fucking miserable.

I could use a stretch of normal winter weather.

I live in Atlanta. It was only bad if you were not prepared. Preparation is the key for all conditions.

Ho! Ho! Ho!

If anyone doubts that CO2 in the atmosphere isn’t going up like gangbusters, view the chart above.

CO2 causes the atmosphere to warm. Not evenly, not smoothly, not without noise and perturbations. Weather is weather and gets weirder as atmospheric temperatures rise and throw off the natural and normal patterns that exist under a lower CO2 environment.

Global warming _is_ a fact. And regardless of the nits and picks that some Governments will throw out to “control” greenhouse gases, unless _the_whole_world_ does the same thing, it will do no good whatsoever. Eventually the selfish and greedy species called Homo Sapiens will poison his own nest to the point of mass extinction down to a small number of hunter gatherer groups who can no longer influence anything on a global scale.

Then the earth will quietly go about the business of cleaning herself up and in 20,000 years, you’ll never know (except for geological and archaeological records) that humans were here at all, much less exterminated themselves by burning up a billion years of carbon in a mere few hundred years..

But don’t worry about all that.. In the long term we’ll all be dead and then it’s someone else’s problem (except for the increasingly strange weather that will occur, the ever rising sea levels that will drive a billion people inland and destroy our world as we know it).

@Stuck – Nice graph. Now overlay it with global mean temperature.

1998 – 2013 has shown a steadily downward trend. CO2 levels appear to be rising. Its affect on the weather is anyone’s guess.

Sorry, I’ll be more specific: Its affect on the climate is anyone’s guess.

“Global warming _is_ a fact. ” ——– MA

The earth cools, the earth warms …… been doing that for millions of years. I have zero problems believing that we are in a warming period. Not that I give two shits …… cuz one way or another there isn’t jack we can do about it.

“Homo Sapiens will poison his own nest ” ——– MA

So humans cause global warming. It’s a tiresome argument …… cuz one way or another there isn’t jack we can do about it. Each side has their proof that they are right. It’s so damn tiresome. I am only posting because I’m totally surprised you are a Blame Humans proponent.

isn’t mauna loa a volcano?
is muck saying that a volcanoes output of co2 is the same as the planets entire co2 rise?

Measurements are adjusted to account for local outgassing of CO2 from the volcano, according to Wikipedia
so basically any ‘measurement’ taken up there is a wild guess because it gets adjusted, so is not an actual reading

MA: “burning up a billion years of carbon in a mere few hundred years..”

That’s the issue. Starting campfires or using woodburning equipment is a net-zero CO2 source since the carbon in the wood is current carbon and not stored carbon from the paleolithic age. I know the general TBP consensus is that weather and CO2 levels are not connected, and in a sense that is correct. Weather isn’t. Climate is. I find it difficult to reconcile the obvious level of intelligence around here with the continuing fallacy of denying an established causal relationship (CO2 levels/Historical Global Temp) by touting an inverse correllary (Cold Winter/Must Be Bullshit). Muck’s right and Orlando isn’t going to be beachfront – it’ll be a Disney-shaped reef system. Flame on, ye Heads-in-Sand.

@Anon,

I heard the people of Atlanta had 21 hours advance warning of the impending winter weather?

You were prepared. What went wrong for so many others? Did they not believe it would happen or do they have no understanding of what preparation means? In addition to the obvious…blankets, food and water, how would I/we go to the bathroom if I were to get stuck for hours in a traffic jam on slick roads?!?! (Ladies???) And maybe get a pair of Yak Trax for the car so that if you need to walk you’ll have better traction.

What did the government brainiacs think would happen when schools and businesses all let out at the same time?!? Onto slick streets. omg.

But keep believing government is gonna help us in a crisis; and two inches of snow should not be a crisis if you have a well-thought-out plan.

Oh yeah?! Well about 75% of my time since the 1st week of November has been on one project, the proposal for which is due tomorrow. My part is the process/drawings/materials and labor costs (blue and white collar). The automation aspect of it was in the hands of our director of automation. Nobody told me that he quit two weeks ago and only this Monday put his spreadsheet on the server where I could look at it.

Guess what? It’s a big steaming pile of bullshit. It’s half-assedly thrown together from other projects and doesn’t even reflect the RFQ. I had to go line by line (there are hundreds) through it to convince my boss (who is in France all week and doesnt want to be bothered with my problems), what a pickle this asshole has put me in, and to us. Now I have given it to another automation engineer who has the unenviable task of making something defensable out of it by tomorrow afternoon. Oh yeah, and it’s “my fault” that I didn’t know what he was up to earlier. Nevermind that nobody told me he was quitting until he was gone for a fucking week.

Right now I’d love to have some cushy university job where I could put my feet up on the desk and fuck around on TBP all day.

After this frigid winter, it would be very difficult to convince, much less scare people into believing global warming. Global warming, that is for true scientists to decide. What is relevant is that the change, if there is any, is caused by humans burning coal and driving gas guzzlers, SUVs and Pick-up Trucks. And in order to reverse climate change we need to change our way of living, which is a lie.

The human-caused global warming campaign has nothing to do with science but with pseudo science. It is actually a psychological warfare operation waged against the people of the world.

Its goal is to convince the people to voluntarily accept the lowering of their standards of living to pre-industrial levels of consumption and willingly become medieval serfs for the NWO masters. Key in this PSYWAR is the way the conspirators-controlled global warmers have implanted in the mind of a large majority of the people in the world the idea that an inert gas, vital in the maintenance of life on this planet, is a actually a dangerous, poisonous pollutant.

The world’s food supply depends on the CO2 emissions of SUVs, volcanoes, fires, plant-rot and termites – a major source of CO2 – to supply this essential greenhouse gas at sufficient levels to ward off famine.

The fact is that, despite the prevailing consensus among “prestigious scientists,” carbon dioxide is not a pollutant and it is not harmful to humans. On the contrary, it is a colorless, non-toxic gas and a valuable plant food. Actually, CO2 is the friendliest gas in our atmosphere. A warm climate with abundant carbon dioxide in the atmosphere would be beneficial for all types of life on the planet earth – no wonder the globalist conspirators hate it so much.

Currently, the concentration level of carbon dioxide in the world’s atmosphere is at 385 parts per million – greenhouses require 4 to 5 times that level to get good green plant production. In order to be harmful to humans it would need to be no less than 6,000 ppm. Actually, carbon dioxide in the atmosphere does not control climate and the minimal effect of man’s CO2 emissions is wholly beneficial.

@Muck: Dude, we love you like a brother here on the TBP, you know that, but seriously, we all know that volcanos make CO2, and regularly spew large amounts of it into the atmosphere.

Also, where did you get that graph? If it came from the IPCC, forget it. Even the NOAA graph shows only a 0.27 C change over 100 years. It is will within the +/- of % F over the last 5000 years.

There have been times on planet Earth when the CO2 levels and temps were HIGHER and there were NO HUMANS around. Until the AGW crowd acknowledges this FACT, I can’t get on board.

Lastly, CO2 generated by whatever source is readily absorbed by plants, the oceans and other carbon sinks. The movement of carbon through the planet is a CYCLE. That little fact is also left out of these AGW “analysis”.

Don’t make me post any more pictures of Raquel Welch in a rabbit skin bikini.
