I HATE WINTER PART 17

We had another three inches of snow last night and temperatures remain frigid. Now a big storm is going to come up the coast on Wednesday night. The models are giving different outcomes, but one model has almost two feet of snow for my area. The Weather Service has already issued a warning and has 6 to 8 inches slated for my area. When will this shit ever end? Now SSS and DaveL can let me know about the brisk 60 degree mornings in Arizona, followed by the sunny 75 degree afternoons.

A STRONG COASTAL STORM IS FORECAST TO AFFECT OUR REGION WEDNESDAY
NIGHT AND THURSDAY. HEAVY SNOWFALL IS POSSIBLE BY THURSDAY MORNING
ALONG THE INTERSTATE 95 CORRIDOR AFTER WHICH PRECIPITATION MAY
CHANGE TO SLEET OR RAIN FOR A TIME DURING THE DAY THURSDAY.

it looks like out by me it likely wont’ significant i have been hearing horror stories from my parents in phoenixville area. Schools and shoppingn centers losing power for days (schools not polluting kids minds and people not spending money they don’t have, oh the horror?!?!?!?!?!)

the biggest issue is the more than normal precipitation along with the temps being so low. normally if it snows it isn’t a big deal because the average temps this time of year are in the high 30’s and low 40’s so the shit melts less than a week after it falls but with high’s not breaking freezing point the snow and ice stays and more gets packed on top of it.

Admin, make sure your generator is ready to go, if you didn’t lose power last week you were lucky.

it’s been said often (but can’t be said often enough) “global warming my fat ass”

Left all the windows open last night so it was a little chilly in the house this morning. But sitting here with shorts on, 74 outside and trying to decide what to do. Forget golf since all the snowbirds have taken over the courses, maybe I will order more ammo, it’s like money in the bank except it is safer.

Left the north in 81′ and no intentions on ever returning.

I think people in Pennsylvania use winter as a big excuse to complain about winter and then get people to feel sorry for them for not having enough common sense to move to Florida.

Please, stop.

I hate it here in central Florida….. No one wants to talk to me from Nov. to May. I don’t understand how people that live North of the Lat/Lon 30.3369° N, 81.6614° W (Jacksonville, FL) are continually P.O.’d about winter weather…

Get over it! Shit happens up there and so does snow and ice in the winter. Been there, done that, came to somewhere it doesn’t happen but once every 100 years or so and then for a day.

No – don’t even think of coming down here to work or retire. The place sucks. I’ve spent the last 16 years trying to figure out a way to move North to — oh,say Detroit — but can’t figure out how to do it.

I like winter weather, but this has been a historically cold winter for our area. I wouldn’t bitch, except my lab has been in the mid 30s for the bulk of the winter, and its damned hard to do basic chemistry below 40 degrees F.

Other than the bullshit at work, I do like this stuff, even the (now) routine sub zero temperatures.

I’ve been holding off on posting this comment in deference to those who hate winter but fuck ’em! I love winter and I’m tired of this BS weather I’m getting. I want at least two weeks with temps at -20F and tons of snow but all I seem to get is single digits for a couple of weeks, rain and a couple inches of snow that melts and then a couple inches of snow followed by more melting.

I love snow. I love driving in it. I love shoveling it. I’d like to get about 2 feet of snow in mid November and about two more feet every two weeks until April 1st. I love winter. The new puppy loves it too! She tunnels through it, rolls in it, dives into it, eats it and even runs around like she is possessed biting snowflakes out of the air. Sounds like a damn alligator! Just watching her play in it makes me laugh.

Let the insults begin!

You all whine too damn much… bunch of fucking pansies…

Winter just IS. It lasts as long as it wants to, and then it’s gone…

I happen to LIKE winter. A lot. I might even make money off it..

And this deep freeze we’re in? It will help kill off the HATED mosquitoes (unlike the warm winter we had last year… come summer, we were overwhelmed by the little fucking vampires) so we won’t suffer so much come this summer… and we need the snowmelt.

So stop whining… you whine too much, you turn into THAT guy…

And nobody wants to be THAT guy…

Meanwhile California is seeing record droughts and pretty record wildfires (some of which may have been started deliberately).

Here in Australia we’re having our “fair share” of Climate Change – the usual bushfires in the usual places (Victoria and South Australia – again!)

Notice the “started by arsonists” item – there are plenty of very strange, very crazy people here too!

After ridiculously warm weather last month, things are getting back to normal in Fairbanks, AK. Forecast for -40 tonight (no wind chill). I’d almost forgotten about plugging in the truck.

T4C, I’ve not made a snow angel in about 15 years but the puppy is doing her best to make a few. I made a “concrete angel” about 10 years ago in a slab of wet cement.

AKAnon, I’m beginning to understand how you feel. Went out this morning to -6 with a wind chill of -18 and it really didn’t feel too bad. The sun is shining, the air is clean and crisp, but it no longer feels “cold.”

We’ll probably be in shorts the minute the temps hit 30 degrees, the way this winter is going!

Screw it, I’m going to find my portable greenhouse and start some seeds.

If I can’t have spring outside, I sure as heck can have a little inside. A grow light, a green house (plastic over movable shelving is the way I’m going to go) and I’ll fresh sprouts and lettuces in a few weeks.

I have to do something, driving across state in this snow is killing me.

Freudian slip, Sensetti? 🙂

Have to agree with you… times like this show you how wise it is to have enough food on hand to not worry about every little storm. Especially when people get shot just trying to buy groceries.

One year ago today in Minneapolis: 98F. Today, high 59F. Walked down to the lake tonight. Made me feel like going back to the garage to get my ice auger to do a little fishing. Goddamned polar vortex.
