  1. Jackson, saying, "After Google, Administrator, why not the Deep State, says:

The Deep State, writes Mike Lofgren, is “another government concealed behind the one that is visible at either end of Pennsylvania Avenue.’

The Deep State, an accurate, ominous, and memorable term, describes a collection of government agencies (Pentagon, NSA, State Dept., Homeland Security, CIA, and Justice Dept.), corporations, and Congressional leadership that is a controlling state within our State.

Lofgren says that the Deep State has it’s own agenda which includes the Wahington Consensus (Groupthink in accord with leadership belief) and American Exceptionalism.

The Deep State is secret and unaccountable and has taken over America. Foci of the Deep State are Washington, Wall Street, and Silicon Valley.

Michael Lofgren adds, “The Deep State is the big story of our times. It is the thread that runs through the war on terrorism, the financialization and deindustrialization of the American economy, the rise of a plutocratic social structure, and political disfunction.”

By the way, not everyone’s aboard. Gadfly Rand Paul and maverick Ron Wyden are two in the Sanate. I assume that TBP posters and commentators should be added to the list.

Lofgren concludes with, “There’s a great hunger for change. (However) what America lacks is a figure with a serene self-confidence (to lead us.)”

After garroting Google, Administrator, will you be ready to lead the American legion?

I’ve worked Lofgren’s Deep State into my Google article. It goes hand in hand with Bernays propaganda quote.

“If nominated, I will not run; if elected, I will not serve.”

I prefer the Thomas Paine/Samuel Adams bomb throwing role.

  5. Jackson says:

Z, Mike Lofgren in the video, describes Ron Wyden as a maverick.

Yah, since when? Some of Ron’s constituents, current and former, think he’s a political mooncalf, not a stray calf.

Jackson, I am a native Oregonian, only leaving that place last summer. The only current politician in Oregon one could possibly conceive as “independent” is Rep. Peter Defazio and even that is a bit of a stretch, although he does have a solid pedigree as he formerly were the chief of staff for Rep. Jim Weaver, who held the same seat, and who was a genuine maverick. Lane County tends to breed them. Sen. Wayne Morse, who was well known for opposing the Gulf of Tonkin resolution and the resultant war from the get-go was also from Lane County.

  7. Jackson, arguing that Liberals aren't mavericks, says:

Z, the Eugene “Register Guard” (Lane Co.) in a recent editorial (“Ever the Maverick”) attributes Oregonian independent attitudes to Oregon being among five of the most liberal and five of the least religious states. The ratings are based on long-term citizen surveys. Independence of thought in the “Register Guard”‘s view means being pro gay, anti capital punishment, and pro abortion. Politically and economically it means being Liberal. As I suggested above with Ron Wyden, Oregonians, and especially those in Lane County, and their elected representatives, aren’t Mavericks, they’re lock-step LIberals and they have been for decades.

Interesting ideas, but just adding another name to what we already know.

The criminals in Washington are the biggest whores in the history of the world. The farmers lobby alone, has paid $3.5 billion to the criminals in Washington and gotten $500 billion in return in the last 12 years. That’s just the start. It’s the biggest criminal organization in the world.

All that he says is true, but nobody does a damn thing about it. Nobody does anything. They only get away with what we let them get away with.

  9. Zarathustra says:

Jackson, I don’t agree with your post above. Oregon, prior to the california gold rush, was the place people walked for 2000 miles to establish new lives. Independence is bred into the people there (those who are not recent immigrants). For what it’s worth, most Oregonians, prior to the great California migration, which began in the 1970′s, was largely republican (outside of the west hills of Portland). In the rural areas, it still is.

  10. Thinker says:

At the end of the clip above, Moyers discusses this article, which points out how Wall Street officials who leave to become government regulators are heavily rewarded — let’s just say what it is: bribed! — by their former employers.

It also includes some fascinating things about the TPP, which are hard to come by.

I know about the Deep State already, but it is nice to have a refresher course of truth, and the decline in our liberty and freedoms. What really hit home is the cost of running the “Deep State”, the cost of our entitlement programs is pocket change in comparison.
