Obama Secret Service agent found drunk; three sent home
LONDON (MarketWatch) — Three Secret Service agents guarding President Barack Obama in the Netherlands were sent home Sunday after a night spent drinking, media reports said. One agent was discovered drunk and unconscious in a hallway by staff at an Amsterdam hotel, the Washington Post reported Wednesday . The incident happened before the arrival of Obama on Monday for a nuclear-security summit in The Hague, as well as talks with world leaders on Russia and the Crimean crisis. The Secret Service reportedly confirmed that three Counter Assault Team agents have been put on administrative leave and returned to the U.S. for “disciplinary reasons”. The agency has been working to repair its image after earlier scandals; in 2013, two members of the president’s security detail were accused of sexual harassment, and in 2012, agents working in Colombia were dismissed after allegations they visited prostitutes.

“The president will arrive on Tuesday night with a 900-strong entourage, including 45 vehicles and three cargo planes. Advance security teams orchestrating every last detail have combed Brussels already, checking the sewers and the major hospitals, while American military helicopters were last week given the green light for overflights. The city hosts at least four EU summits a year, with each of these gatherings costing €500,000 in extra police, military and transport expenses. “But this time round, you can multiply that figure by 20,” said Brussels mayor, Yvan Mayeur.”
What did this cost the US Taxpayer?
