Liberty Movement Rising

Guest Post by Brandon Smith

“Freedom had been hunted round the globe; reason was considered as rebellion; and the slavery of fear had made men afraid to think. But such is the irresistible nature of truth, that all it asks, and all it wants, is the liberty of appearing.” – Thomas Paine

The label of “fringe” is a common one used by statists, bureaucrats and paid shills in order to marginalize those who would stand against government corruption. The primary assertion being sold is that the “majority” joyously supports the establishment; and the majority, of course, is always right.

The liberty movement, which is a collection of numerous freedom organizations and political activists brought together by a shared philosophical bond, has been accused of “fringe” status for quite some time. With corporatist dominance over the mainstream media for decades backing an elitist machine in Washington and a global banking cartel footing the bill with money created from thin air, any such accusation can be made to seem “real” to those who are unaware.

The problem has always been a matter of physical action giving rise to an acknowledgment of numbers.

We have all heard the old story of the debate within the ancient Roman government over the idea of forcing the slave population to wear distinct armbands so that they could be more easily identified among the regular population. The concept was rejected on the realization that if the slaves were given a visual confirmation of their considerable numbers and strength, they would be encouraged to revolt against the Roman tyrants. That is to say, as long as the slaves felt isolated, they would remain apathetic and powerless. Of course, that was not always the case. Sometimes, a small group would stand up despite their supposed isolation, and the rest of the world, wide-eyed and astonished, would take notice.

The liberty movement has just experienced one of its first great moments of realization and empowerment in Clark County, Nev., and millions of past naysayers have been shell-shocked.

I covered my views in detail on the Bundy Ranch saga in Nevada in my article “Real Americans Are Ready To Snap,” amid the usual choir of disinformation agents and nihilists desperate to convince Web audiences that the liberty movement would do nothing to stop the Bureau of Land Management’s militant assault on Cliven Bundy’s cattle farm. This assault included hundreds of Federal agents, helicopters, contractors hired essentially as cattle rustlers and even teams of snipers.

The statists and socialists were certainly out in force to misrepresent the Bundy issue and frighten anyone who might consider taking a stand for the family. The Southern Poverty Law Center, not surprisingly, was hard at work spreading lies and disinformation about the confrontation in Nevada, painting a picture of fractured patriot groups and militiamen with “little training” going to face unstoppable Federal BLM agents and likely “ending up dead.” The SPLC insinuated that the movement was ineffective and in over its head.

The reality was much the opposite. Liberty groups arrived in droves and were staunchly unified — not by a centralized leadership, but in defense of the basic moral principles outlined in the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights. Sources on the ground at the Bundy ranching operation relayed to me that at least 1,000 activists and militia members arrived over the weekend, with many more on the way. This one event proved certain points:

  1. The liberty movement is not afraid to put itself in harm’s way for the right cause — even if this means facing off against highly armed government thugs.
  2. The liberty movement has the ability to field a response team or even an army anywhere in the country at any time within a couple of days.
  3. The liberty movement has the ability to change the course of events, even to the point of removing Federal agents from a region who are acting in an unConstitutional manner.
  4. The Federal government is not invincible, nor is it unfazed by liberty movement opposition. They worry about our strength and ability.

Over the past weekend, we witnessed the true influence of the liberty movement. As thousands of activists and militia arrived in the area, the BLM finally began to understand what it was facing. The government agency that has been terrorized farming communities throughout the West for years, the agency armed with military-grade weaponry and hundreds of agents, ran away, as freedom fighters descended on the region.

Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval and Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie, two politicians who were deathly silent during the beginning of the Federal incursion on the Bundy ranch, have now suddenly become vocal in defense of Nevada ranchers against the BLM. It’s amazing how “inspired” politicians can become to do the right thing when they see an army of liberty activists marching against tyranny in their own backyard.

Not only was the BLM forced to remove itself from the area, but it was also forced to relinquish all the cattle it had stolen from Bundy over the course of the past week. Here, liberty groups close in on the cattle holding pens of the BLM and take back Bundy’s property.

Statists are indignant and furious over the surrender of the BLM. The same people who boasted that liberty activists would be slaughtered by Fed agents are now frothing at the mouth because they did not get their massacre. Not only that, but the bureaucracy they worship has shown itself to be impotent in the face of Constitutional champions. All I can say is nothing puts a bigger grin on my face than to see statists cry like babies when their delusions of grandeur are trampled on.

This was a major victory for the liberty movement. But let’s be clear; the fight is just beginning.

I suspect that the Bundy event will be spun by news agencies and the government until it is unrecognizable. They will claim that the BLM left not because they were wrong, but because they were trying to keep people safe. They will claim that liberty movement protesters were the aggressors and the poor BLM agents were just trying to do their jobs. They will play the race card as they always do, much like this pathetically lazy and unprofessional article from Slate, which asserts that if the Bundy’s had been black, the Liberty Movement would have never supported them. They will argue the so-called Federal legality of the raid itself, and paint Bundy as a “freeloader” who refuses to pay taxes and who is living off the American people. They will do everything in their power to destroy the image of the victory and soil the name of the Bundy family.

What they don’t seem to understand, though, is that the liberty movement does not care what the Federal government deems “legal” or “illegal.” Our only interest is what is Constitutional and what is moral. The dispute was never about the “legality” of Bundy’s use of the land, which his family used for grazing without interference for generations — until 1993, when the BLM used the absurd endangered species protection racket to put all of his neighbors out of business and threaten his ranch with invasion. Add to this the recently discovered fact that Senator Harry Reid’s former assistant and friend Neil Kornze is now head of the BLM due to Reid’s influence, and the fact that Harry Reid and his family are reaping financial rewards by driving farmers from all over the region where Cliven Bundy’s ranch sits while arranging land deals with Chinese solar companies, and one has to ask, why should Bundy pay any of his hard earned money to the federal government when they are just going to use it to bulldoze his cattle and make Harry Reid more rich?

Disinformation websites like Snopes contend that Reid’s “projects” are not being established anywhere near the Bundy Ranch, yet, one such project has already been launched only 35 miles south of Bundy, and, the BLM has erased a page from its website specifically mentioning the Bundy Ranch and it’s “interference” with Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone Projects, the same projects Harry Reid and his son are heavily involved in.

What is amazing to me is that in light of this information hardcore socialists are still willing to defend Reid and the BLM. My question is, if the BLM is so innocent, then why are they erasing such data from their website at all? What were they trying to hide?

Harry Reid has not responded to the facts behind his financial involvement in the BLM’s attacks on Nevada farmers, except to say that they are “conspiracy theories”. He added when asked about the status of the confrontation:

“Well, it’s not over. We can’t have an American people that violate the law and then just walk away from it. So it’s not over…”

Yes, Harry, it won’t be over until men like you are thrown behind bars.

Note that he says “an American people”; as if he is separate, as if he is referring to all of us as a subservient organism, or servant class. What Reid is saying is, the elites can’t have “an American people” openly exposing their criminality and defying their tyranny, and then just walking away. I’m sorry to break it to Reid, but that is exactly how all of this is going to end.

Statists and bureaucrats like Reid continually attempt to argue this issue from the standpoint of Federal legality, obviously because the Federal government has the legislative and bureaucratic power to make any despicable action legal (at least on paper) if it wishes. However, the liberty movement has no interest whatsoever in Federal interpretations of legal precedence. We are only concerned with what is right. As the old saying goes, when injustice becomes law, rebellion becomes duty.

The liberty movement also fully understands that the Bundy victory was only one battle at the beginning of a long war.

The BLM may very well be waiting for activists to leave the area before attacking again. And even if that is not the case, tyrannical systems have a way of attempting to make up for signs of weakness by escalating violence during the next siege. That is to say, we should expect the next event involving the BLM or other government agencies to be even more vicious than the Bundy incident. It is simply the natural inclination of totalitarian systems to exaggerate their power when their failings have been exposed.

That said, it should be noted that corrupt leadership often crumbles in the face of steadfast resolve and courage. We have a long way to go before this Nation is once again truly free, but the liberty movement has proven its invaluable worth over the course of the past several days. We arrived at a crossroads, and we are now moving forward in the right direction — without fear and without regret. It is in these moments when history is made — when common men and women thwart the odds, defy the darkness and make good on their beliefs by risking everything in the name of freedom.

The statists are patient, and they are probing. They are probing not only the average militia weakness and commitment, but the average Joes response from media coverage.

Reid has everything, he has the courts, he has lawyers, he has troops, he has the media, he has unlimited funds, he has other politicians, he has China waiting, he has all the cards.

They will continue to lie as usual and just make it up as they go along. Bundy may go down without a shot being fired, but who will the next Bundy be? And will that one be the bloody one?

They are waiting for one of these confrontations to turn deadly violent. Then there will be no more large scale confrontations. That is the excuse they are waiting for. There will be stealth SWAT attacks on patriots under cover of darkness and no media coverage.

That is when remaining militiamen will do the same. The war between the United States and America. God help America.

@ Brandon Smith and Admin

Thanks for the article and post.

I think this is POTENTIALLY one of the most important stories in recent years. Cliven Bundy and his family have said “no more” to the federal government, and hundreds of armed citizens showed up to have his back. With guns. Pointed at armed federal thugs. They ran. But not before they trashed his fences and corrals, shot his bulls, ruined his water tanks, and generally laid waste to his ranch land.

But that’s not the point. Bundy won for now. Do you think this could be the spark for widespread pushback against the oppressive and overreaching federal government? Will it lead to more “Bundy stories”? I personally hope so.

Whats ironic is the gov is whining about Bundy owing the taxpayer $1 million in back fees.

How much did it cost the taxpayer to send drones, helicopters, 200+ agents and gear out there and then bring it all back? And now, how much will it cost the taxpayer to sue Bundy? One to two year court case.
Even Glen Beck is saying Bundy is wrong and backing the fed gov. Dogs sleeping with cats right there, The end is nigh!

@card802 – not sure how much it cost the guv for those thugs and helicopters, but I read that the contract let out by BLM for ranch-hands to gather up the cattle was upwards of $900,000.

Here’s the duplicity of the BLM. Citing the endangered tortoise and then stating in their report that such risk may be acceptable for the desired development of this land for a solar installation is at odds. In other words, solar beats tortoises:

“A certain level of adverse or unavoidable impact may be acceptable: (1) when an appropriate level of mitigation will be conducted and remaining impacts do not result in unnecessary or undue degradation; or (2) when impacts to BLM sensitive species or Endangered Species Act-listed species do not exceed established resource and value objectives.”

That is from their own report here:

Harry Reid is the embodiment of all that is corrupt and evil about our government, and this country. He’s one of the biggest spenders in modern history, He, Pelosi and Obama have doubled the national debt in 5 years. Reid has pissed away trillions, he is known for the “omnibus spending bill” which he packs with tens of billions in pork for his corrupt criminal cronies. He needs to be taken out, one way or another. The people of Nevada that voted for this criminal should hide their head in shame. Ironically, other people from Nevada are patriots, and will fight Harry Reid and those like him to the death.

Here’s a photo taken from the air of the BLM’s secret bovine concentration camps. After this photo was released, the BLM ordered the FAA to shut down the air space over the ranch, creating a wartime “no fly zone” to prevent more pictures from being taken.

This incident has created some strange bedfellows (P.E.T.A. and Bundy supporters):

“In addition, reports by observers confirmed that spring heifers who were subject to abusive BLM tactics were forced to abandon some calves behind to hide in the desert bush (a common practice by mothers who are being rustled, who later can backtrack to retrieve their young) putting the calves at risk of death.”

“Critics now believe the BLM and Clark County Sheriff’s Office could face legal challenges for reckless handling of the situation. It is now obvious that they were all complicit in the commission of horrific atrocities against animals.

“Some have made a legal observation that the BLM, which falls under the U.S. Department of the Interior, may be guilty of racketeering under federal RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corruption Organization) statutes.”

It’s interesting that the liberty movement, and all those that support the constitution and bill of rights, are living under the assumption that we still live in a democracy, and that there are measures that can be taken (voting, writing to the Congressmen) to remedy our socialist fascist situation. This is false. We don’t live in a democracy. We don’t have representative government (of the people). Unless you have enough money to pay off one of the criminals in Washington, you are left to fend for yourself.

The only way the liberty movement is going to succeed, and our country restored to a democracy with Constitutional rights, is to eliminate to oligarchy. This will not happen peacefully, as the criminals will never give up power, privilege, the IRS, stealing money from people that work, redistributing it to people that don’t, taking bribes, handing out tens of billions in pork to cronies, community organizers and other parasites. The system as it is broken beyond repair. Patriots and the Liberty movement better realize this, otherwise they are wasting their time.

card802,

As far as the one black freedom fighter is concerned, I didn’t paint those. Don Troiani did. He is considered the preeminent painter of historical moments and individuals today. I was at an auction where just a print of his painting “Bunker Hill” (shown above) went for well over 1000 dollars (in fairness, the print was HUGE – several feet long by several feet wide, matted, framed and under glass). It was the first time I had ever seen Troiani’s work and I have sought out his work ever since…

It was a shining time, and is my favorite period of history. Systems of government like the Americans have (or had) are fantastically rare in history, where political power is vested in the people. In 6,000 years of human history, it has happened exactly once – and that’s us. If we do not expend the effort to turn this around and save ourselves, then we deserve to go down…

Rise Up,

I have a print of Troiani’s “Bunker Hill” framed on my livingroom wall (smaller than the one above), along with the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. My father gave me a collection of limited edition pewter plates, each one has a rendition of important moments from the Revolution. They line the stairway going upstairs. I think they were made by the US Mint back during the Bicentennial, and while the individual ones go for modest amounts, a complete intact set goes for big bucks today…

My wife and son, formerly disinterested in political issues, are now heavily interested and are budding little Patriots. 🙂 I went down the list of things the Framers listed in a plain-text copy of the Declaration of Independence – the reasons why they were breaking away from England and specifically King George – and showed that they were almost exactly the same reasons for our outrage today…

Each new egregious overstep and/or abuse by our corrupt government and their thug enforcers sparks howls of outrage from them. My wife, formerly a quiet, demure woman, has a smouldering fury in her eyes that wasn’t there before whenever something like the Bundy ranch comes up… her favorite word for just about anyone in government, like Reid, Pelosi, Feinstein, McCain, Obongo or The Mouth of Sauron (Jay Carney), is “schleim-scheiße”…. which translates to ‘slimy shit’.

Ask Stucky – there are few things more intimidating than the normally reserved Teutonic heart lit by righteous fury, especially in a women… I would rather face down a pissed off Rottweiler than the fury in those blue eyes when she’s got her hackles up…

We watched “The Patriot” last night. One of my favorite movies. My wife and son peppered me with questions about if the Brits did burn folks’ houses and target civilians… the answer is “Yes, they did”. Especially the houses and families of the signers of the Declaration. Then I pointed out how our own home-grown thugs burned men, women and children alive at Waco. Shot an unarmed woman in the head while she was holding a baby at Ruby Ridge…

Folks are getting worried. And angry. I’m talking about regular, blue-collar folks. Guys I know. Farmers mostly. Mechanics. Guys who work at the paper mill or the place that makes gravel outside of town. Sheriff’s deputies. Regular folks that you invite over for dinner or take their boy fishing or shooting squirrels. Genuinely angry and I’ve also noticed an undercurrent of the feeling of betrayal.

The next couple 5 or 8 years will be very, very interesting…

Soldiers of Pension

But what about federal agents? What are they protecting besides the behinds of corrupt politicians? And, certainly, they’re really not doing that so much as they’re just the dumb, brute force advancing and enforcing said politicians’ power grabs.

(This is all said excluding certain federal agencies which have clearly defined law enforcement duties, such as the US Marshals, CBP, etc. I’m talking about agencies like the BLM, HUD, USPS, etc.)

I look at these hired goons and can’t help but think that they’re just a bunch of meatheads playing soldier. But playing soldier is all it is. All the real soldiers I know have this little thing called honor. What honor is there in sic’ing canines on unarmed women while confiscating the property of fellow citizens?

The most irritating aspect of it is they’re no doubt cheerily following tyrannical orders because they’re getting paid handsomely to do so. And who’s paying them their royal salaries, overtime, bennies, and golden retirement? Yup—you and me Joe Taxpayer. We who, mind you, would be mercilessly crushed under these agents’ boots should they only get the orders from above to do so.

So to you wanna-be studs with your high-tech military gear and weaponry, blithely doing the bidding of the Powers That Be for a paycheck earned for you by the people you are so callous about oppressing, I can only say that whatever hornets’ nest you decide to kick, you’ll have earned every sting. I’ll pity you not.

WHO’S THE REAL DOMESTIC TERRORIST?

Unfortunately, the sleazy democrat majority leader in the senate can’t leave well enough alone. No siree Bob…he had to pour more fuel on the fire! Can you believe this? Of course, he also lied through his teeth in many ways when he made the comments he did, but what else can one expect when it comes to any democrat…especially Dirty Harry!

What he had to say recently should have your blood boiling…period! Harry Reid and son are the crooked bastids when it comes to their dealings in the state of Nevada…yet nothing, and I mean nothing happens to them. They are never held accountable for one single damned thing they do! Wrap your mind around that! And they wonder why we the patriots of this country have had our fill of their bullsh!t up to our eyeballs! – Enough already!

But I digress. Did you know if you sided with, or supported and protested for the Cliven Bundy family, you are now declared a ‘domestic terrorist‘…that’s right folks, you are a labeled a domestic terrorist in Dirty Harry’s world!

Harry Reid and ilk are beyond the pale! – Via my viewfinder in life, they are the ‘real‘ “domestic terrorists”…not We the People!

So, what’s Dirty Harry’s real motive here? Is Reid wanting a real war with the Bundy family when it comes to blood and guts? Of course, the slimy little bastard wouldn’t be the one fighting it either…now would he? He’d let others do the dirty work for him while he’s elsewhere, being the shrunken-up gutless pond-scum that he is…no doubt about that!

One of my favorite moments of the Revolution.

Mary Ludwig Hays was married to a Continental Regular, an artilleryman.

Upon seeing her husband fall during the Battle of Monmouth, she rushed in and took his place in working the gun he was killed beside, and stepped into legend – forever known as Molly Pitcher. Anyone who doesn’t feel their heart swell with emotion over this, well, they’re simply not human beings and sure as hell ain’t Americans…

AWD,

Both good posts!

I find it extremely telling that the Brits also labelled the Americans “terrorists” 238 years ago. A common tactic – smear your enemy with a label so pejorative in the hopes that ignorant dupes will believe you and thus, side with you.

Calling someone a “terrorist” today is pretty much the same as calling them a “racist” or a “witch”… it’s a Word of Power that has been so overused that it has lost it’s mojo. Sort of how our guys in Afghanistan adopted the “Infidel” label and even wore patches that said “Infidel” in English and Farsi…

Reid and his larvae are both corrupt pieces of weasel shit. Reid calls the Patriots ‘terrorists’? That means we got him both angry and scared… I hope he ends up in “Pound-me-in-the-ass” Federal Prison where some guy named Bubba ass-fucks him until his asshole prolapses and he has to wear a diaper the rest of his life… same for his corrupt larvae…

The Federal government has no right of ownership to any state land. Where are the Repugs on this? …crickets…

http://christianmerc.blogspot.com/2014/04/lets-call-it-patriotism.html
Let’s Call It Patriotism
A government unloosed from its authorizing document, in open revolt against the principles laid out and defined therein, with the will, intent and ability to execute citizens for trivial offenses, basically parking tickets (oops, forgot to feed the meter on the cattle) is, by definition, a domestic terrorist. The politicians and agents involved in such criminal activity as theft of property (water rights in U.S. v Hage a similar, but much more egregious case than the issue with Cliven Bundy) involving the BLM, determined by the judge to be involved in a criminal conspiracy is the definition of domestic terrorists.

Mr. Reid, those who stand against such criminal acts are called patriots.

To engage in criminal activity with the threat of death and kidnapping (incarceration) to U.S. citizens is domestic terrorism.

But, all of that is really a sideshow. In the main tent is the fact that this government have brutalized its citizens so often, so willingly that word is out, public sentiment is changing. Investor’s Business Daily is pointing out the obvious, but at least they are pointing.

In the Constitution, there is no provision for the United States to own any land that is not directly associated with conducting the business of government and provision for military bases and arsenals. There is no provision for national parks, land management, national forests, those are all the legacy of the first round of progressives to invade the halls of government with ill intent to the citizens.

The coming hot war was instigated by the government over one hundred years ago, but only recently, with the total corruption of the government, with politicians in violation of their oaths: stealing lands; stealing water rights; stealing funds; as they have grown more desperate and more despotic as the inevitable bankruptcy of the federal government looms. They have cast off the pretense. The president operates in total disregard for the wishes of the people and the Constitution, refuses to enforce borders, invites criminals into the nation in contravention of Section 8, Clause 4, where it states: To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States. To enforce rules of naturalization on some immigrants and not on others violates the “uniform rule” requirement.

The list of offenses and abuses of the government are endless. The creation of bureaucracies headed by the unelected who wield the entire power of the federal government including the power to execute citizens in the open for minor offenses is the step that went far, far beyond anything conceivable as “necessary and proper” largely because Bureau of Land Management agents armed and trained to execute citizens is neither necessary, nor proper. The entire agency is extra-constitutional and therefore any action against the citizens of any state is the act of terrorism.

Defense against tyranny and terrorism cannot, Mr. Reid, be terrorism. It must be something else, I don’t know, lets call it: Patriotism.

There isn’t a conservative leaning citizen of this country with a brain in gear that subscribes to the NYSlimes…other than mainstream media pundits of all venues, and that ain’t saying much!

Nevertheless, see if what was written inside their paper the other day doesn’t frost you flakes! After you do, would you please tell me their motives…other than they despise the military, same as Dear Leader does. Yet you’d think these creatures from hell that own, write and work for this rotten, left-wing news-rag would not disparage our military veterans, past and present in the way which one author did…after-all, just whom do they think fought and died for their right to free speech in the First Amendment to begin with? – Oh never mind, that matters not to the lowest forms of life on this planet that think their blathering bullsh!t is fit to print when it comes to the trash put out everyday. What they’re fit for is eternal hell and damnation as far as I’m concerned, but that’s just me.

These gutless wonders at the NYT’s will be receiving big time backlash for connecting our military to the KKK, just as Hank Aaron did in this example. They’re all either stuck on stupid…or their agenda for destruction of what they perceive as enemies matters first and foremost! – Either way, what was written is a despicable disgrace to our military…and our nation!

Here’s a bit of outspoken opinion via Col. Oliver North in this report:

Anger is brewing among service members and veterans groups after the publication of a New York Times op-ed that tries to link veterans and white supremacists. The piece came just days after a 73-year-old white supremacist and veteran, Frazier Glenn Miller, was arrested in an attack that killed three people at a Jewish center in Overland Park, Kansas.

In the column, op-ed contributor Kathleen Belew writes:

In 2009, the Department of Homeland Security issued a nine-page report detailing the threat of domestic terrorism by the white power movement. This short document outlined no specific threats, but rather a set of historical factors that had predicted white-supremacist activity in the past — like economic pressure, opposition to immigration and gun-control legislation — and a new factor, the election of a black president.

The report singled out one factor that has fueled every surge in Ku Klux Klan membership in American history, from the 1860s to the present: war. The return of veterans from combat appears to correlate more closely with Klan membership than any other historical factor. “Military veterans facing significant challenges reintegrating into their communities could lead to the potential emergence of terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists carrying out violent attacks,” the report warned. The agency was “concerned that right-wing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to boost their violent capabilities.”

The report raised intense blowback from the American Legion, Fox News and conservative members of Congress. They demanded an apology and denounced the idea that any veteran could commit an act of domestic terrorism. The department shelved the report, removing it from its website. The threat, however, proved real.

She noted that Miller served two tours in Vietnam before setting up a KKK-affilated organization in North Carolina called the White Patriot Party. Miller was outspoken in his hatred of Jews, and is said to have operated a website dedicated to anti-Semitism and neo-Nazism.

The column has outraged veterans, including Fox News military analyst Col. Oliver North (Ret.) who reacted this morning on Fox and Friends. Steve Doocy asked whether it’s really accurate to make people think that our nation’s veterans “go off to war and then come back and join the Klan.”

North called the column “unconscionable,” and asked where the outrage is from leaders in Washington.

“Where is the outrage from the Secretary of Veterans Affairs? Where is the outrage from the Department of Defense? Why hasn’t the Secretary of Defense demanded a retraction? How about the Commander-in-Chief, who ought to be standing up for the troops?”

North called out the Obama administration for putting out the 2009 DHS “hit piece” that sought to warn Americans about the dangers posed by returning veterans. He pointed out numerous examples of skewed coverage from the Left, saying outlets like the New York Times have cast the military in a bad light over the last 13 years, just as they did during the Vietnam War.

“Those who serve in our military today, Steve, are our best and bravest of their generation. They are just like their parents who were part of that ‘Greatest Generation’ who went off and did their duty in the words of Tom Brokaw. And they never got the thanks that they deserved. And what happened to our Vietnam veterans should never have happened. It shouldn’t be happening now. We ought to get down on our knees over Easter weekend and thank God that we have people willing to serve our country in a time of great divisiveness,” said North.

“I just sent an email out to two friends who are Vietnam veterans. Both of them have extensive email lists of pilots and ground pounders who fought in Vietnam. I asked them to contact our Vietnam comrades to request their thoughts on the Bundy ranch situation. I’ll let everyone know what the response is. It may take several days.”
—-Me @ 11:54 pm above

The responses are starting to trickle in. So far, 4 pro-Bundy (one flew combat missions in WWII, Korea and Vietnam), 1 neutral (he’s a former fighter pilot turned lawyer), and 1 virulently anti-Bundy/pro-big government/knee-jerk liberal (former fighter pilot and a highly experienced test pilot).

Once I get more responses, I’ll post some of the specific comments. Without attribution of course. These are people who are highly educated, many with Masters and Doctoral degrees, who are also combat veterans.
