IT’S THE .01% STUPID

The 1% aren’t the problem. The problem is crony capitalism that rewards billionaires who buy the politicians, control the media, and reside on Wall Street. The game is rigged and we’re all the dupes. How many people do you know that make $30 million per year? ZERO. The vast majority of scumbags raking in that much dough per year live in locked down gated communities or luxurious penthouse suites where they can hit tennis balls in their living rooms. They are protected by men with guns. They commute to work on helicopters or in chauffeured limos. They think you are peasants, to be treated like cattle and sheep. They have a sociopathic desire for more wealth and more power. They never have enough and will stop at nothing to get more. Know your enemy.

“I demand a recount as well.” ——– Punk In Drublic, at 10:32AM

Oh, the humanity!! I’m sorry, but your vote will NOT be included.

You see, the voting period ended at 10:30AM. Rules are rules, and I make ’em. That’s the way it’s always been, is, and will be. You missed the vote by 2 minutes. I tried to tell you that jerking off to gay-porn is bad for you … and now you have proof.

I wish I could count your vote. Truly. But rules are rules. Without them we would have anarchy.

Only Admin can over-rule me. If he’s OK with counting all your down votes against him, then it will be done. His will is ALWAYS done. Meanwhile, stop choking your chicken.

Superb debate! In summary it seems that there is a consensus that we’ve been screwed by our “owners”. I’m about to seriously start buying “stuff” to prepare for a “reset” to 1860. Anyone want to argue in favor of 1910 instead? Or that we’re going to “muddle through”? Hoping to hear from y’all. BC-LR to all

It kills me to disagree with you Llpoh, just kills me.

But what you 100% neglect to realize, is that the “rich” you know, and like yourself, will eventually be reduced to the same level as the rest of us.

You all ain’t the rich Admin speaks of.

When CONgress writes the rules (like NAFTA, the Asian agreements, labor laws, etc), they tell you that it is for the good of your pocketbook. These agreements COULD have been fair to us all, but they were set up from the gitgo to transfer businesses like yours and mine to China, so ultimately under the control of the mega-corporations and two governments.

What isn’t acknowledged, is that the rules were written by your biggest competitors and eventually you may find that they don’t suffer in the same way as you.

I continue to watch the systematic dismantling of our centuries old small business, community business, way of life.

Once the little guys are spit out, they will come for you.

You may be successful by the rest of our standards, but you are nothing but a small threat to the real rich guys in this country. And you must be stopped.

But, have hope and keep defending them. I’m sure it will work out better for you then it has for those that have already been slaughtered.

It was the crack about boomers, wasn’t it, Stucky?

Persnickety

The friendly detente between Jim and LLPOH in this thread has been a bit painful for me… I was going to jump in to llpoh’s defense (WTF is that acronym, anyway?), but I saw Jim’s retort and realized all the really rich people I know, the good people who aren’t all those nasty things… are very rich but not megarich. People who make millions up to maybe $10-20M a year, and probably have 8 or even low-9 figure net worths, but are not in the 0.01% club nor Wall Street insiders/hangers-on. I know lots of people who make low seven figures and probably have 8 figures in assets, but I don’t think I’ve ever even met a member of the 0.01%.

We’ve really reached the point where an utterly tiny fraction of people have most of the wealth and are turning into enemies of the 99.99%. Ugly.

Snick – I have met some Rockefellers, as mentioned earlier. They lived similar to kings and queens, and definitely were unlike any other rich I ever encountered.

Not sure even they, by shear wealth, crack the 0.01 percent.

I am still not convinced that it is those folks with the most effective influence. As I said, I do not think it takes billions to buy politicians. I know some that for a fact were bought for paper lunch bags full of cash. Ten grand directly handed over can get a significant favor in many cases.

All politics is local, as the saying goes. A lot of corruption and damage is done at that level, and via corrupt political advisors. They can be bought on the cheap, and quite directly. If a person is so inclined.

I suspect corps wield unbelievable influence at times, as well.

Stucky

Clams send llpoh into triple digits thumbs down, and he doesn’t even mention it.

While it was an epic beat down, as far as shit-fests go, not even a nipple in the pond. Pathetic.

Stucky

fuckme.

Make that “ripple”.

Hell, as I said Stuck, given Admin’s home field advantage, fact is I kicked his ass on the thumbs count.

And everyone knows he cheats. He is notorious for stuffing the ballot box. He would fit right in as a Chicago community organizer.

Bullshit Sommelier

Has anyone verified llpoh in person. He sounds like Walter Mitty to me. “Yeah, my kids are super smart with Masters degrees, and, ok, you got me, I only know 3 people worth a hundred mil, and I have a bus part factory.”

@Bullshit: all of us. All of us. Are just pimply teenagers sitting around in momma’s basement with nothing better to do than whine about how kids aren’t polite any more, and things cost more than they used to. It’s basically grump old men, played by teenage bloggers.

And I call bullshit on your claims. I’ll bet you’re actually a fighter pilot or astronaut, not a connoisseur of cow excrement.

TY-THSH to all.

Bullshit sommelier – yep, you got me. It is all lies.

By the way, if you drop the total net worth down to $100 million,as opposed to $30 million a year income, I know several more.

I have been posting here for some years now. It would be quite a feat to stay in character that long, don’t you think. Some minor things I change at times to protect my identity, which I do not want to be discoverable easily, but the basic stuff is all true indeed.

What an asshole Bullshit sommelier is. If a person has experience, some degree of success, etc., then he must be lying.

Bullshit Sommelier must be a failure in life. Successful folks do not tend to begrudge the success of others. In my experience, anyway.

llpoh – I’m pretty sure this evening’s sommelier is a regular in drag. I suspect Stucky, but it could be AWD, your favorite dead lobster waitress, or various others.

I suspect so, Snick. Not sure it is AWD’s or Stuck’s style, but it seems likely it is a regular. Hiding behind a pseudonym out of fear. How quaint.

Llpos, next time yer on the green with Mr Rockefeller, have him autograph your scorecard. Get one of your highly accomplished chirren to show you how to scan it into the computer, then post that as a article. Otherwise, I’m calling bullshit. I can smell it here, deep and fresh. My finely tuned bullshit sensing gut actually tells me you are in fact a bus driver, and your offspring are on the dole, if you know what I mean.

———- Persnickety

Shame on you for suggesting that. It was not me.

My dopples are meant to be funny. Sommelier’s comment was disrespectful and not all that funny. I consider llpoh a friend, and if I have some shit to say to him I’ll do it under my own name, and not hide behind a dopple.

Not to mention the off grid, self sustaining garden of Eden he has managed to procure as a retreat for collapse. Llpos does everything right!

Interesting… and sorry Stucky, your doppels are usually funny, if offensive to the target.

O’Hagen: I just got off the phone with Tom McCardle From the budget committee. This thing with Farva screwed our pooch.
Thorny: What? They can’t lump us in with that fuckin’ Martian.
O’Hagen: We’re all in the same boat, fellas.
Mac: But our shenanigans are cheeky and fun.
Thorny: Yeah, his shenanigans are cruel and tragic.
Foster: Which wouldn’t make them shenanigans, at all, really.
Mac: [Irish voice] Evil shenanigans!
O’Hagen: I swear to God, I’ll pistol whip the next guy that says ‘shenanigans!’
Mac: Hey Farva, what’s the name of that restaurant you like with all the goofy shit on the walls and the mozzarella sticks?
Farva: You mean Shenanigans’s?
Mac, Foster and Thorny: Oooooooooooooooooo! [Laughing, Mac hands O’Hagen his gun.]
Farva: You’re talking about Shenanigans’s, right?
O’Hagen: Put those away!

Thanks, Admin. Bullshit Eater has obviously been watching long enough to know a little bit, but not enough.

Stuck – knew it was not you. Or AWD. You guys are class acts, while that guy is an asshole.

Re Rockefellers, not my friends, barely acquaintances. But at least one would remember my name. Something to do with me going to an Ivy and all that. My memory of him/them was that they were nice folks, reserved, but from a life the rest of us can really only imagine.

Re my homestead, it is amazing what can be accomplished if you have a reasonable budget. Fact is, what I am doing is financially unjustifiable. It is crazy from a financial standpoint. But the plan is to be totally independent of the grid, etc., if need be. And who knows if money will retain its value (it will not, but how much it will not is the question. Rampant inflation is certainly possible, and my chance at a doomstead could disappear.). I am financially secure, and I will feel much better having a place where I can be fully independent. That is priceless in my opinion. My wife agrees, so we are doing it.

Stucky

Persnickety —- No problem. I over-reacted, as usual.

llpoh — thanks. I’m glad you didn’t think it was me. I respect you too much to go behind your back like that. You and me … if or when we gotta be nasty, we do it the right way.

This was put out a few years back. I think the facts are pretty clear around how income equality is going to make us a third world country if we aren’t already.

Question is – what can or should be done about it. Most people agree with elimination of rent seeking over multiple generations and passing down inordinates amount of wealth between generations. Of course, you also have to incentivize people to go out and create wealth or we’ll all be nothing but poor (socialism). But, is today’s system the right balance.

Small, corrupt minds cannot believe in honest and upright men.

Neither can they fathom a just and merciful God in the flesh. They are blind as beasts.

Psychology calls them ‘morons’.
