If I was an NFL owner or manager, I would not have drafted this guy… not because he’s gay (couldn’t care less about that) but rather because he made a big deal about being gay, which was clearly a strategic decision made with the belief that it would bolster his chances of being drafted at a higher level than his playing skills merited. Not to mention how difficult it will be to deal with the resource action of letting this guy out of his contract if he doesn’t perform as a player. If he was a straight guy who had a press conference to tell everyone how much he just loves, loves, loves “the pussy,” I wouldn’t have drafted him either.

I have no interest in watching guys kiss, but I also couldn’t care less if some do.

The only time I care about a person’s homosexuality is when they are a politician and appear to be closeted and therefore vulnerable to blackmail (Obama) or when they appear to be doing things that would be equally illegal for a straight guy (Bwarney Fwank and underage boys). If they’re out, or not a politician or government officer, and not seeking underage boys, I have no problem with them.

i got into an argument with a gay friend over this nonsense over the weekend, he didn’t like many of my points

some of the points
-the guy obviously had a support structure in his life, don’t act like he “defied the odds”
-he was one of hte last 10 people drafted but his name was called out by a high up NFL official from the podium, this is extremely rare after the 3rd round, so rare that people knew “something” was up before the pick was announced.
-the HNIC actually released a statement regarding it. he took a break from murdering brown children with drones and wiping his ass with the constitution to congratulate Sam, the Rams and the NFL.
-Jackie Robinson actually dealt with hatred for being black, sam is dealing with less than 100% acceptance because he prefers penis to vagina, he is not even in the same universe and jackie. nor was he a concensus top pick or current top player already proven professionall, he is likely nothing more than a college standout (for which there are hundreds every year) who might become a good player but more than likely is a special teams/reserve player.
-he already has promotional deals, he “came out” to cash in. anyone not seeing that is practicing congnitive dissonance.
-with the magnitude being made regarding this, how can anyone blame a team for wanting to avoid the media circus associated with it.
-if he is brave for dealing with so much universal hatred why is a current player swiftly getting hammered and fined for tweeting “horrible” after the public makeout session. if a white QB was selected in the first round and his uber hot girlfriend made out with him they woudl have been universally called out as classless (rightly so) by the same people calling this “brave”.
-while arguing with my friend i pulled up ESPN and told him to as well, at that moment 8 of the top 11 stories were about Sam and the only negative ones were chastising people not congratulating him and saying this in a monumental societal acheivement. he is not beig crucified, he is not a former slave in SC post civil war, teh LBGT need to get the fuck over themselves.

if Sam was a complete beast, the reincarnation of Reggie White, would almomst assuredly post double digit sack totals each season for a decade with high character and a team first mentality along with the only possible downside being that he was gay there wouldn’t be any teams passing him up.
it isn’t about equality, just like affirmative acton it is the exact opposite, it is about special “rights” and privileges and acceptance beig forced upon people.

I hadn’t heard of him until the draft last week.

Is his position a tight end or wide receiver?

I thought he was going to be drafted by the Green Bay fudge Packers.

I just love it when a special interest group of 2 or 3% of the population jams their agenda down the throats of the rest of the population. What is worse, a great slab of the population accepts it gleefully and declares just how tasty the whole experience was.

Unbelievable.

We have a problem when we celebrate men who suck dicks and take them up the ass.

P – gays. But the statement applies to just about any special interest groups – teachers unions, minorities, etc etc.
