Doom porn honestly depresses the living shit out of me. Some days — and they are becoming more frequent — I wonder to myself why the fuck I should even get out of bed.
The religious discussion in the “Scientific Method” thread stirred memories of Bible verses that meant much to me in days gone by … and still do to some extent.
One of those passages comes from 1 Thessalonians, Chapter 5.
“Live in peace with each other. And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else. Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
Words to live by. And with that, I give you this inspirational video from my pal, Stumpy.
Thanks, Stucky. I think his web site name describes life well ,” attitudeisaltitude, Maya Angelou died this week .The 86 year old poet wrote these moving words, ” Listen to yourself and in that quietude you might hear the voice of God”. What luxury for all of us if we will just attempt to leave the noise and clatter of the world and enjoy quiet time as we are designed to do . John
Finally, brethren, …
whatever things are true,
whatever things are noble,
whatever things are just,
whatever things are pure,
whatever things are lovely,
whatever things are of good report,
—- if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy— THINK ON THESE THINGS.

Great video. Thanks for posting.
Whenever I start feeling down, I share some bacon with my pug.
And then I think how great it is that I don’t taste like bacon, because if I did, I’d be scared shitless.
That dog would eat me!
The most powerful set of limitations that people face in life are those they place on themselves.
great vid. Stuck …. I had an encounter with a homeless fellow @ a restaurant Sunday that made think, but for the grace of God..I gave the fellow the few bucks I could spare, but after he left, I found myself wishing and wondering if there was more that I could have done.

Don’t wonder. Most people just walk by. You did something, and that is commendable. Your heart is in the right place, and for what it’s worth, I value that immensely in a person.
Reminds me of a story I heard James Dobson tell in a sermon;
“A man was walking along a deserted beach at sunset. As he walked he could see a young boy in the distance, as he drew nearer he noticed that the boy kept bending down, picking something up and throwing it into the water. Time and again he kept hurling things into the ocean. As the man approached even closer, he was able to see that the boy was picking up starfish that had been washed up on the beach and, one at a time he was throwing them back into the water. The man asked the boy what he was doing, the boy replied,”I am throwing these washed up starfish back into the ocean, or else they will die through lack of oxygen. “But”, said the man, “You can’t possibly save them all, there are thousands on this beach, and this must be happening on hundreds of beaches along the coast. You can’t possibly make a difference.” The boy looked down, frowning for a moment; then bent down to pick up another starfish, smiling as he threw it back into the sea. He replied, “I made a huge difference to that one!”
Stucky, I to have so much to.be thankful for in this life ,Thanks. bb
Flash,
My daughter and I have volunteered for a number of projects involving our church from feeding the poor and homeless to rebuilding homes destroyed in Katrina. I have to say it is one of the most satisfying and enriching acts I have done in my life. Working with a group of self sacrificing teens to who come from well off suburbs, who volunteer to help others at their own expense, helps me believe that there is hope for the future. Flash, anytime you can help someone in need savor the moment.
Bob.
