QUOTES OF THE DAY

From Gayle

Now we’re in the midst of not just advocating for change, not just calling for change – we’re doing the grinding, sometimes frustrating work of delivering change – inch by inch, day by day.

Barack H. Obama

How’s that Hopey Changey stuff working out for ya?

Not a fan of Palin, she’s an idiot. She never should have been a governor, let alone a VP candidate for a major political party. That the Republican Party pushed her in front of us just reminded me that they don’t want the Presidency during this tumultuous time. Same with Mitt Romney. That side of the spectrum is all too happy to let the Dems fail over and over while waiting for their turn to save us with their NeoCon ways.

ALL of that being said, her quote is fucking funny as hell, and right on target.

Gayle

What Palin may lack in IQ and sophistication, she makes up for in moral intelligence. I was never a fan, but I have more appreciation for her these days. Unlike the Evil One, she at least likes the USA.
Many see her as a complete buffoon, but I’m not so sure.

@Gayle – She would have been better than Obama in some ways, worse in others. If Palin was president, we would have been in Syria and would already be in WW3 most likely.

With Obama, the war hasn’t started, and with any luck China and Russia’s relationship will be obvious even to our NeoCon idiots like McCain.

Only a truly insane people would try to fight an allied China and Russia.

She likes Israel more.

As I said before, if we are dangerously uncertain of the outcome and are led into war by a Commander-in-Chief who can’t recognize that this conflict is pitting Islamic extremists against an authoritarian regime with both sides shouting “Allah Akbar” at each other, then let Allah sort it out.

@Gayle – I know her stance now, however if she was actually relevant she would toe the party line and do as the chickenhawks commanded.

Hours after a terror attack in Jerusalem, Sarah Palin on Wednesday night hammered President Obama for not standing strongly enough behind Israel, conceding too much to the Palestinians, and interfering in a local “zoning issue” – settlement building on the West Bank.

“I think there are many in Israel who would feel even more comfortable knowing that there is an even greater commitment from those who presently occupy the White House that they are there on Israel’s side, and that our most valuable ally in that region can count on us,” Palin told Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren in an interview in Naples, Florida.

In November 2009, Palin expressed her support for the expansion of Israeli settlements in Palestinian territories,[189] a position contrary to that of every U.S. Presidential administration in the past 40 years.[190] In an interview with Barbara Walters, Palin stated, “I believe that the Jewish settlements should be allowed to be expanded upon, because that population of Israel is going to grow. More and more Jewish people will be flocking to Israel in the days and weeks and months ahead. And I don’t think that the Obama administration has any right to tell Israel that the Jewish settlements cannot expand.”[189][190]

On March 5, 2011, Palin stated that the United States should refrain from cutting off foreign aid to Israel, while eliminating “waste and fraud” and “inefficiencies”: “I don’t support that kind of foreign aid at all, but when it comes to Israel – No… I stand strong with Israel and unapologetically I say that America should keep this strong democratic ally that we have there in the Middle East and allow for protections around Israel.”[191]

Palin is a stupid, corrupt neocon whore for AIPAC. It hurts my eyes to see her given any credence or legitimacy on this site.

Gayle gets the First Ever published “Quotes of the Day” headline. Congrats!!! (even if you did quote two of dumbest pols out there … and the list is a lo-o-o-o-o-ng one.

I was at first positively enamored with SP. A NEW face, instead of the same-old-shit, was encouraging. Not a bad looker. Folksy, albeit in a corny way. Seemed sincere. But, she’s one of those people who make a good first impression, but the more they talk the more the “veil” is removed …. and, it’s sca-r-r-ry as hell. JMHO.

Despite her homespun kitsch, I think she’s basically a moral person. As such, she could never be allowed to be prez, just like Ron Paul, a moral giant in his own right, could never be. Contemporary presidents cannot possess even a moderate level of integrity.

I chose those two quotes because I think they represent one dilemma a people face when they must pick leaders. What is the most important measuring stick to use? More importantly, what did the American people miss when they fell in love with BO? What was it about Obama that caused him to be perceived as the Savior, while Palin was seen as (your words) an idiot? Do you pick the lying genius or the honest fool?

Gayle

I agree Sarah Palin’s views on Israel need to be moderated. I’m not a Palin apologist. See my last comment to TPC.

“Do you pick the lying genius or the honest fool?” ——— Gayle

Good question. DAMN SHAME, however, that those are our choices these days.

We desperately need a ‘George Washington’.

Gayle, what you are overlooking, or unaware of, is that in 2008 when the Tea Party movement emerged, the Neocons went out in search of “leaders” they could co-opt so that whatever direction american politics took, their interests would be protected. Bill Kristol recruited and promoted Sarah Palin.

She has known what her role is from the beginning. She is no different than Obama in that regard…both are corrupt to the core. The rest is just bullshit.

Zara, If you need me to dislike Israel, I’m right there with you. If you expect me to feel for the Palestinians, well, then you lost me again.

Regardless of what you think of their leaders (personally I think Abbas is a pretty level-headed guy), the Palestinians are human beings who ought to have the same rights as anyone else, and that includes the those in the diaspora. If it’s okay for Jews to claim a birthright to Palestine on historic claims, then it is equally, if not more, the right of Palestinians to claim their lost property since 1948.

I wouldn’t have a problem with Israel if that state wasn’t based on land theft, terrorism and apartheid (not to mention gross interference in our politics). Oh, and war crimes…

Kristol did not recruit her, but he did lend vociferous support. Personally, I suspect he lusted after her.

It is possible she is corrupt, and the fact she made it to a VP candidacy is testimony to that. The media’s derision for her and the mocking of her gaffes was nonstop, however, which lends credence to the perception management needed because she was seen as a credible threat to the establishment.
The media treated the old fool Ron Paul the same way when they weren’t ignoring him.

I have become cynical enough to believe anything is possible.

The media is biased in favor of democrat politicians (we both know that). It did not help her that she rivals Biden as a gaffe machine. Regarless she was never a threat to the establishment, but rather the media’s choice of who should be it’s champion.
