Hard Choices?

Guest Post by Jim Kunstler

The New York Times editors seem to think that if they tell enough sob stories about illegal immigrants in their ongoing sentimental series “The Way North,” that the national debate will turn into a giant pity party and the nirvana of a human peaceable kingdom will come true, with no consequences — except for more interesting cuisine in states that formerly subsisted on Salisbury steak and pie.

The New York Times, like just about every other institution in the progressive orbit, has surrendered its collective brain to a morass of feelings, longings, and promptings that leads ever deeper into a wasteland of dishonesty. As a long-time registered Democrat who started voting in the year of Watergate, I resent being taken for a ride to the place where anything goes and nothing matters. And especially where nothing matters less than clear thinking and straight talk.

We could start with the practice — especially popular on National Public Radio — by which illegal immigrants are called “undocumented,” as if some unjust bureaucratic mistake was made in their journey across the border and to blame them for it amounts to persecution. It is really too obvious to belabor, except to say that the cumulative effect of such programmatic lying, day after day, will eventually discredit the basic principles of social justice, if it hasn’t already.

The popular story is that America was built by immigrants and that therefore everything about immigration is good and leads to a more successful society. This narrative is so devoid of historical context that it should embarrass anyone beyond a second-grade education. In fact, the surplus populations of industrializing European countries were off-loaded onto a more sparsely-populated New World that also happened to be in the throes of rapid industrialization (including industrial farming), offered a lot of cheap land under plain terms, and held a bonanza of untapped resource wealth in everything from timber to iron ore.

A few things that progressives leave out of the story these days: immigration was rigorously controlled at its ports of entry, and particularly at the height of immigration between the 1880s and the 1920s. A lot of people may have been pouring in from foreign lands, but they were carefully scrutinized on the way in, and not a few were sent back. Secondarily, these immigrants were required to assimilate into a recognizable common culture. There was no handwringing over the question of whether children from Italy or Lithuania should have to learn how to read, write, and speak in the English language. A strong consensus required it of them, and it must be fair to say that most of them were eager to enter that new common culture. We also conveniently forget that immigration quotas were severely restricted in 1924, not out of meanness, as the sentimentalists would suppose, but because the public and its representatives correctly apprehended that the situation had changed in some of its obvious particulars, requiring a consensus about limits.

In the 21st century, The USA is no longer sparsely populated, except in the regions that are typically hostile to settlement anywhere else in the world — places where there is no water, or too hot, or too cold, or too swampy. North America is a settled continent at a moment in history when virtually every nation including the USA can be fairly considered over-populated. It is also too obvious to belabor the point that fossil fuels have produced an algae bloom of human reproduction and that, whether we like it or not, the decline of fossil fuel is certain to lead to a decrease in human population. The question is how disorderly and cruel that journey might be if we don’t make the management of contraction a supreme political priority. And managing the movement of people into this country is a necessary part of that.

Currently, progressive America is pretending that the conditions of the 19th century still prevail here — boundless material resources and land for the taking — and that we can happily accommodate the overflow from our equally overpopulated neighbors, Mexico and the countries of Central America, any way they can manage to get here. The sentimental approach as represented by The New York Times, is exactly what will prevent the kind of hard choices that national leadership is faced with. Both established political parties could founder on this issue.

It’s rather funny that the presumptive Democratic nominee for president in 2016 titled her current book Hard Choices, because that is the chief pretense of the party she represents. The last thing Hillary wants to do is take a stand on anything, other than her entitlement to live in the White House.

Not bad.

But this is in error; —— “North America is a settled continent at a moment in history when virtually every nation including the USA can be fairly considered over-populated.”

Europe is crowded. Slantyeyeland is VERY crowded. The rest of the world is not.

In contrasting the immigration periods of 1880-1920 and today, Kunstler fails to point out that the primary driver for today’s illegal immigration is the promise of federal and state government handouts and anchor-baby citizenship to their offspring.

Also it may be premature to assume that Hellary will be the default Democratic party presidential nominee. Her book tour seems to be tanking along with the sales of “Hard Choices”.

This immigration fiasco is, first of all, Illegal. Obama doesn’t give a shit, since he breaks the law whenever he chooses, especially to load up the Free Shit Army with more Mexican parasites (democrat voters). Are they just giving out food stamps and EBT cards when they cross the border? And why isn’t anybody trying to stop this bullshit? Where are the people responsible for upholding the immigration laws? Are Holder and Obama shacked up in a gay bathhouse, not taking any calls?

I say stick a Mexican family with every fucking liberal progressive douchebag in this country, and make them PAY for these Mexicans, instead of the taxpayers that are already shelling out $400 billion a year for illegal immigration. Mexico and Central America are third-world shitholes, and very, very soon our entire country is going to turn into the same third world shithole these people came from. They don’t assimilate, they don’t have to get a job, they line up for miles at the welfare office, free housing, free healthcare, and a lifetime of entitlements and benefits, for generation after generation. And, the beaners will be a majority in this country before long, and Obama can’t have it happen soon enough. Obama needs to be impeached while there is something left of this country still standing.

WHAT TO DO WHEN A PRESIDENT WON’T KEEP THE LAW?

“these are the times that try men’s souls.” Every day we watch the America we once knew sink into the abyss of totalitarianism and tyranny. Yet no one seems concerned. Especially in the ruling classes of Washington. There is no “loyal opposition” against His Highness Imam Obama from the Republicans. They are focused solely on passing Amnesty for the benefit of their Chamber of Commerce and Big Bidness masters while seeking reelection.

Obama’s brazenness at usurping consitutional powers given Congress and the elected representatives of the citizens is simply astonishing. He literally does anything he wants, when he wants, how he wants, and laughs in the face of Congress. He tramples the rights of citizens who dare oppose him. Then he goes golfing. Again. Never has America witnessed the two things we are currently witnessing every day. 1. The trashing of the Constitution and 2. The apathy of the American people.

America has been invaded by illegal aliens for a generation now. We have allowed tens of millions of fertile, uneducated, unskilled, dependent hordes to cross our borders as if they don’t exist. Because they don’t exist. There is no question America has more than enough uneducated, unskilled, dependent, domestic, mooching hordes here already. Yet, the President and Congress sit idly by and ignore the very immigration laws they created. We are witnessing the Cloward and Pivening of America. And the evil plan is working exactly how those domestic enemies wanted. What’s a nation to do?

The IRS scandal may be the most frightening scandal of the smorgasborg of Obama scandals. A behemoth governmental agency that has an unending supply of money, guns and lawyers has been sicced on American citizens who dare speak out against the government. The protected bureaucrats employed by this agency have the ability to financially destroy any American who doesn’t fall in line. When the Republicans in Congress go through the motions to investigate this unconstitutional outrage, the IRS laughs in the face of Darryl Issa and tells him they destroyed the hard drives of those being investigated. Mark my word. Nothing will happen. No one will go to jail. It’s all bread and circuses anyway. After all, what difference does it make? At least to the ruling classes! What’s a people to do?

The American taxpayer has spent/borrowed a trillion dollars and sacrificed/wasted 4,000 lives of US soldiers in trying to civilize Muslim savages in Iraq. They were Muslim savages before we arrived and are Muslim savages now. Now Iraqi Muslim savages are being overrun by Al Qaeda ISIS Muslim savages after Obama pulled US troops from Iraq. I don’t disagree with the decision to pull American troops from Iraq. I disagree with the decision to try to civilize savages with borrowed American taxpayer dollars.

Now Obama and his team of traitors are reportedly reaching out to Iran to help stop Al Qaeda from taking over Iraq. I crap you negative. Secretary of State John Kerry said Obama is considering sharing critical information with Iran on Iraq. Again, I crap you negative!! The President of the United States is considering sharing information with a brutal, Muslim regime whose leaders chant “Death to America” on a daily/hourly basis! The same that sent IED technology into Iraq and Afghanistan to kill American soldiers. The same regime that took American diplomats hostage in 1979. And our President reaches out to these savages? It is not an unfair question to ask what country Obama represents? If Obama will work with Iran, there is no American secret safe from the enemies of America. What’s a crumbling former superpower to do?

Sure, if the Republicans in Washington had a molecule of testosterone between them, they could impeach Obama in the House. They won’t. They are too afraid of being called racists. We have come to the point where the fear of being called names overpowers oaths of office. Says everything we need to know about politicians.

Of course, if Obama were to be impeached in the House, he would NEVER be convicted in the Senate under the control of Harry Reid. Or Mitch McConnell if the Republicans retake the Senate in November. Satan regularly visits Harry Reid to learn new techniques and Mitch McConnell is interested in nothing but feathering his own ill-gotten nest of wealth and power. So impeachment, the very instrument provided by the Founding Fathers to protect us against Barack Obama, is out of the question. What’s a people to do?

Texas is sending Department of Public Safety troops to try and stop the border intrusion we are suffering. Texas does this at our own cost in defiance of the federal government. Border enforcement is the total responsibility of the federal government. But when the federal government prohibits the Border Patrol with enforcing immigration laws, what’s a state to do? Just what Texas is doing! Take the law into our own hands! If the federal government will not do it’s job, individual states MUST protect their citizens. Arizona tried in 2010 with SB1070 but it was ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court after Arizona was sued by Obama and Mexico. A US President and Mexico suing a US state for creating a law that exactly mirrors federal immigration law the federal government will not enforce! Did you ever think this was possible? Maybe it was pre-Obama. Now it’s another day. What’s a state to do?

There aren’t many options for American citizens to end the tyranny of Obama and the federal government. When our elected officials are too corrupt/cowardly to uphold the laws and Constitution they swore to enforce and impeach a tyrannous President, Americans have only revolution at our disposal. For this purpose and this purpose only, the Founding Fathers gave Americans the Second Amendment. But do Americans love liberty more than they despise tyranny? It’s looking more and more like Americans will sink into being slaves of the state rather than openly fight the government. After all, the NFL starts up in a few months.

Perhaps the decision of Texas will encourage other states to rise up against Obama and his government. This thing has got to come to a head sometime. Better sooner than later. Either way, it will not end pretty or peacefully. I choose liberty over tyranny. Molon Labe.

Really, you care about public opinion polls? What a hypocrite!

I suppose you conveniently miss who’s in the number one spot.

And, just in case you missed it, Bush is actually the worst. What an idiot you are! Posting a poll which proves the exact opposite of what you were trying to prove.

If you pay for something you get more of it.

If you tax something you get less of it.

The solution is simple but not easy and I doubt the American people have the intellect or will. We have passed the point of no return and the 4T crisis is going to be bad. I wish I could take the pain for my grandchildren but that is not the way it is.

Border Patrol Agent Sounds Alarm | DML Daily

Last week, I visited South Texas for the second time in two years. Once again, I was blown away with the lack of border enforcement. Although I must admit, the situation is now ten times worse than it was when I visited in 2013.

I am constantly receiving messages from Border Patrol Agents who want to share information. During my trip last week, I met with three agents from various sectors. Each told me similar stories which send shivers down my spine. One BP Agent was brave enough to do an on camera interview with me.

The interview took place just 1/4 mile away from the most active crossing in Brownsville Texas.

DML: If 100 illegal aliens cross over in an hour, how many will you catch?

BP: It varies, but right now so many of our agents are busy processing people that I’d say it’s more than 50% getting through.

DML: Do the American people have any idea as to what is coming across?

BP: No. This is not about what you see, it’s about what you don’t see. The amount of criminals, murderers and terrorists entering the U.S. right now is overwhelming. We can’t stop it. We’re like the cream inside an Oreo. We’re stuck in the middle. Scouts watch us from the Mexican side. Scouts watch us from the American side. Americans are working for the Cartels.

DML: Americans?

BP: Yes, and lots of them. And because we are so preoccupied, the opportunities for the very worst people to sneak across is there 24/7. Everyone in our agency knows it. National security is completely compromised.

DML: On a scale of 1-10, the security risk at the border right now is…?

BP: At this very moment it’s a 7, maybe higher.

DML: How long has this been going on?

BP: It started to get really bad in January. But it’s gotten really, really bad over the last month and seems to be worsening by the day. The traffic is unreal.

DML: Who gave the directive to release these people into the U.S. Instead of deporting them?

BP: It’s definitely coming from high up. One day during roll call we were told we have new procedures regarding families. And that’s when we started releasing them all into the U.S. Agents like myself were up in arms, but there is nothing we can do. Nobody, and I mean nobody, working at the Border Patrol is happy about what is happening. We want to deport these people. We want to do our jobs.
