1. As a forced contributor to the Detroit Water Department (DPW owns the water & sewer for the entire suburban market too) and their corruption, debacles and waste, screw these folks. My rates have doubled in the past 10 years, even as my water consumption plummeted. We’ve already been notified that our rates may increase up to 40% next year to “backfund” their freaking water department pensions. Which, btw, Detroit residents WON’T HAVE TO FREAKING PAY! Only us “whiteys” in our suburban hell.
2. Balzytch’s comment got me thinking. Maybe that is the solution, put faucets on hydrants/corners and allow anyone, paying or not, to stop by for a drink or a bucket. Super volcano under a national park, gubment screwing with the weather, magnetic pole due to shift (btw, NO understanding of what might happen with that one, we could literally wake up with New York sitting on the new equator, or the new pole), collision of a space object, earthquakes from fracking, solar flares and EMPs. You know, the usual.
The list of the catastrophies is completely unnerving.

Wow, never before in my life has it been more obvious to come to terms with my maker, have contingency plans for temporary or permanent shortages of items I need to live, and step back and enjoy and be thankful for all the good things in my life and my world.
