TODAY IN 1988

Does anyone seriously believe that the plane pictured below could possibly be confused with an F14?  How does American treat it’s war criminals anyway?  Naturally it honors him, just another hero doing his duty to keep us free.

In 1988 today, 290 people were killed in a US missile cruiser’s attack on an Iranian passenger plane.

Carrying 274 passengers and 16 crew members, the Airbus A-300 (IR655) had just taken off from the southern Iranian coastal city of Bandar Abbas and was climbing inside an internationally recognized route to Dubai when it was targeted by two Standard missiles fired from USS Vincennes on July 3, 1988.

Following the incident, US officials claimed their warship mistook the jetliner for an attacking Iranian F-14 fighter plane. The allegation was made as highly sophisticated radar systems and electronic battle gear had been mounted on the warship.

The Iranian airliner was equipped with an identification transponder to give off a specific response signal when interrogated by a radar signal from a potential adversary.

Due to delay in takeoff, the Vincennes started issuing warnings on the Military Air Distress frequency, having mistaken the Iranian civilian airplane for a military aircraft.

Vincennes’ attempts to contact Flight 655 failed because they had been sent on wrong frequencies.

Although no data recorder reported any identification, friend or foe (IFF) signal, the staff aboard the Vincennes continued misreporting the signal.

The decision to shoot down the Iranian plane was reportedly taken deliberately on the basis of personal advice passed from junior officers, regardless of a stream of contrary evidence from the electronics aboard.

The US government has so far refused to admit to its crime in the tragic incident and instead keeps falsely blaming Iran for the incident.

Washington later paid some 95 million dollars in compensation for the Iranian victims and the aircraft.

The money, however, failed to placate the anti-US sentiments in Iran, where people expected the USS Vincennes’ captain, William Rogers, to be held responsible for his criminal act.

Instead, Rogers was awarded the prestigious medal of Legion of Merit for his so-called outstanding service.

I was just watching a documentary about that Malaysian flight that disappeared. In the comments that followed was one that mentioned a guy who saw a large airliner still flying but on fire. This was the day the flight went missing. I remember reading that story on Drudge I think. The comment also mentioned a joint military excercise involving the US military called Cobra Gold that was being conducted in the Indian Ocean. The commenter said to draw your own conclusions.

Somebody (the US) knows where that plane is I’m sure. We have a worldwide network of underwater hydrophones that can identify individual ships by name, entering the straights of Gibraltar from the east coast of the USA. There is no fucking way a jet liner goes down in any ocean without the Navy being able to triangulate the location of impact.

Stucky

Don’t forget the USS Liberty.

Just another entry in the long, long list of American Military incompetence. A little like the Patriot Missile System – incapable of shooting down a SINGLE SCUD missile, but very good at shooting down RAF Tornado MRC aircraft . . . .

As to having the World’s biggest military budget – it might pay to remember the very true stories of the “Non-existent Roman Legions” – fully funded (and the money simply passed into the pockets of the “well-connected”). Today’s “Well-Connected” certainly know their history, and certainly enjoy their taxpayer – assisted lifestyle, so before thinking this could not be a repeat of history, just think again, especially in view of the many, many reported cases of fraud in the DoD Supply system (especially electronics component supply, e.g. “MilSpec” being recycled domestic, but relabelled, ’cause “no-one will ever know”!).

& remember, before 9/11, a couple trillion was missing from the Pentagon budget. The 9/11 missile that hit the Pentagon (oops, I mean non-existant plane) just happened to hit the location where all the incriminating evidence was kept!

Building 7 just happened to collapse by itself on 9/11, after being hit by nothing, & it happened to house SEC records. But, it was destroyed.

What a coincidence!

They hate us for our freedom. Also, the plane was flying suspiciously and so we had to take it down. By doing so, we prevented 290 potential terrorist attacks. Another success story.

The govt.
