VICTORY

The U.S. General killed in the August 5 green-on-blue attack at Camp Qargha, Afghanistan, has been identified as Major General Harold Greene.

Breitbart News reported that the attack took place around noon with, at that time, approximately 15 wounded and one U.S. officer killed.

The Associated Press reports that General Greene was the officer who lost his life.

Green’s Army bio indicates he was “the Deputy for Military Acquisition and System Management, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology).”

Pentagon spokesman Rear Admiral John Kirby said of the approximately 15 shot during the Camp Qargha attack, some were “seriously wounded” and some received “only minor injuries.” He said the Pentagon “believes” the gunman “was an Afghan soldier.” He said there are “no indications that he was anything other than a member of the Afghan National Security forces.”

I wish we would do things the way they were done in the Roman Republic. When the Republic went to war, the elites (all of them) were put right in the front lines. A dead elite found with wounds to his back (an indication that he had attempted to run away) would have his family wealth confiscated by the state.

The deputy for military acquisition and system management?

I bet he had a chest full of fruit salad with a job title like that. Probably a hat like the playing pieces in Stratego, too.

The comments by the official military spokesman about how this wouldn’t have any affect on the relationship between US and Afghani forces sounded really, super duper reassuring.

We probably trust each other even more now.

Well at least he was doing something for the soldiers in the field unlike the Monday morning quarterbacks and useless cowards here. You should all be a shame of yourselves but we have no shame anymore in this society so it feels a ok to belittle a dead man kill by our enemies. No shame and no honor. This is what we have become.

“Jesus said “”Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s” ————– Anonymous

If you believe — “Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s” — means that Jesus endorses paying taxes or is an acquiescence to Rome’s power ……… well, my friend, YOU COULDN’T BE MORE WRONG.

Jesus NEVER taught that taxes should be paid to Rome. In fact, one of the three accusations made against Jesus .. reasons that carried a death penalty …. was that Jesus did NOT pay his tax.

If Jesus actually agreed to paying a tax to Rome, then the Pharisees, who were standing right there, would have torn their clothes, accused Jesus of blasphemy, and may very well have tried to kill him on the spot. But, they didn’t. Why? Because the Jews understood what Jesus’ was really driving at …. an act of SUBVERSION towards Rome, and a sacrifice of self to God..

Lew Rockwell has a very good article on this ……….

Jesus NEVER taught that taxes should be paid to Rome.

24When they came to Capernaum, those who collected the two-drachma tax came to Peter and said, “Does your teacher not pay the two-drachma tax?” 25He said, “Yes.” And when he came into the house, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth collect customs or poll-tax, from their sons or from strangers?” 26When Peter said, “From strangers,” Jesus said to him, “Then the sons are exempt.…He said, “Yes.” And when he came into the house, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth collect customs or poll-tax, from their sons or from strangers?” 26When Peter said, “From strangers,” Jesus said to him, “Then the sons are exempt. 27″However, so that we do not offend them, go to the sea and throw in a hook, and take the first fish that comes up; and when you open its mouth, you will find a shekel. Take that and give it to them for you and Me.”

“.. go to the sea and throw in a hook, and take the first fish that comes up; and when you open its mouth, you will find a SHEKEL.” ————- Bible quote submitted by Mr. Chen

A shekel is NOT the same as a Roman coin!!!

There are at least 10 reasons why Jesus COULDN’T mean that giving unto Caesar means paying taxes to Rome. But, most people don’t give a shit about these theological discussions …. plus, it’s late and Ms Freud are going to watch some TV before calling it a night,

However, I will give one big reason. The inscriptions on Roman coins proclaimed Caesar as God, or sometimes High Priest. It was blasphemy to the Jews of the most magnificent order, and there is no way on earth Jesus would endorse enriching Rome at the cost of the Jewish soul. Period. End of story.

I have heard this verse in reference to the paying of tithes. Nevermind that Jesus says he came to fulfill the law and on the cross he says, ‘it is finished’. Not, it is finished the way Julien Sorel says his work is finished before launching into his wildest escapade yet. No, Jesus dies on the cross. The act of redemption is done, the law is complete and since the tithe is part of the law, I wonder how ‘render unto Caesar…’ leads to the convenient interpretation that paying the tithe fulfills the second part of that verse?

Admin-Actually, he doesn’t have a lot of stuff. Not as much as he could have if he wanted. In my brigade, it was all formulaic-set down in a policy memo before the end of our tour in Iraq. If you were a certain rank, you got a certain award, no matter how hard you worked or what you had actually accomplished. All E4 and below got Achievement Medals, E5s and E6s got Army Commendations, all E7s and platoon leaders got bronze stars, etc. It was a pathetic joke. If he’s wearing all his stuff in the pic Admin posted, he wasn’t as big a doucher as he could have been. In any case, regardless of how big a perfumed prince he might have been, there’s no point in mocking him. He wouldn’t have been permitted to treat the Afghans the way they need to be treated. I’m not an expert on Afghanistan-I didn’t get to go there, but if anyone ever read Churchill’s book on the Malakand Field Force, I think that’s a good example of what you will always get in Afghanistan-sneaky stab-in-the-back attacks whenever you aren’t strong and coming from a position of absolute force. Those people really only seem to understand merciless force-everything else is just weakness to them.

BTW-if you want to see a disturbing documentary on what’s really happening over there, look up youtube’s Vice channel and “This is what winning looks like.” This is a documentary about Marines training up Afghan cops and how awful they are. there’s no hope there.
