Interesting chart on “What Gifts Do People Want Most?”

167% want gift cards, money, books, clothing, food (or liquor), and CDs/DVDs. Either the poll threw in illegal aliens plus the population of Mexico, or we’re just plain greedy.

My wife and I will exchange Christmas cards after firing off hefty contributions to charity. Well, yeah, the kids and grandkids get something. Got to be honest about this.

I agree with you 110%. The numbers on method of payment don’t jive either. Folks who are willing to pay over 700% on car title loans aren’t going to be niggling over such minor details.

My wife enjoys Christmas year around…she is a talented Ebay shopper. All of our friends and I benefit from her shopping skills. Must have saved thousands while spending hundreds.

All I asked for were books, a few DVD’s and one CD. My wife has been wanting a good radio for work so I bought her a Tivoli. Everyone else got bacon except for my best friends adopted grandson. We gave him $50 last year in the form a savings account deposit and told him we’d give him $50 more if he had $100 on deposit by Christmas. Little shit managed to save $230 so he’s getting the $50 we owe him and we opened a new savings account for him at another credit union with a similar but higher stakes deal. The new account pays 5% on the first $500 you have on deposit so I can teach him about interest.

Not counting charity, that’s Christmas for $600 including shipping, paid for with a credit card and paid off in cash before the statement arrived.

Correction time…”Asche” County? It’s Ashe, with a whole 2.5 miles of 4 lane highways in an 800 sq mi plus county and where it’s not recommended to stray off the beaten path too much. Lotsa stills & Mary Jane production there.

So Ashe County uses the Xmas Trees as cover for alcohol and drug production.

How much did I spend on Christmas—– OH yea. $0

It’s been at least 10 years that I’ve told everyone not to give me anything for Christmas because I’m not doing the Christmas gift thing anymore. The fact that around half the people that are buying me something for Christmas are putting the purchases on credit cards just annoys the crap out of me. Get me a card and I’m happy with that.

People are truly sheep. The advertising industry has everyone well under control and people will go deep into debt just so they go along with what they are led to believe they must do to fit in.

I don’t fit in with anyone’s program and that’s the way I like it. I’m an oddball and if anyone doesn’t like it I couldn’t give a shit.

So what do people do now,,,, they give me these damn gift cards, WTF? I’ve got a stack of those damn things in a drawer somewhere.

OK hit me with the thumbs down.
