Agency will confiscate infant if entire family doesn’t get flu shots

TACOMA, WA — A state bureaucracy is threatening a mother with removal of an infant unless her entire family subjects themselves to flu shots.

This is the dilemma that foster parent Jamie Smith is currently facing. The Washington Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) is giving the Tacoma family until February to comply with the mandated regimen of influenza vaccines — imposed on every member of the family — or else they will lose their youngest child, a 2-week-old foster infant that was born on Christmas.

Mrs. Smith is a dedicated foster mom, and has fostered seven babies. She currently raises five children, including an adopted 4-year-old daughter. Her objection to vaccines is based on safety concerns for her family, she revealed in an interview with KOMO News:

“I’ve done a lot of research on it and I don’t like some of the side effects that it has,” she said.

Smith says she’s worried about mercury in the vaccine and its effects on the brain. She doesn’t want her or her five children exposed to that even if it means losing the little one.

“I’ve thought about that a lot,” said Smith. “Unfortunately, I have to think about our kids who are in the house first and to me they’re more important, their safety, than trying to fight to keep this little guy.”

Among the alarming vaccine ingredients that Mrs. Smith referred to is Thimerosal, a drug stabilizer that contains the compound ethyl mercury, a known neurotoxin. Popular influenza vaccines such as Fluzone®, FluLaval®, and Fluvirin® each contain Thimerosal.

Flu shots, like the ones listed above, are responsible for a host of neurological disorders and other serious side effects. According to the DOJ’s report on the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program — which settles vaccine injury claims since the drug makers were made legally blameless by Congress — over half the compensatory claims handled between 5/16/2013 to 8/15/2013 were for adverse reactions to flu vaccines. The injuries included:

Guillain-Barré Syndrome, myelopathy and radiculopathy; psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis; chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy; skin rash, fatigue, and scarring; brachial neuritis; shoulder injury related to vaccine administration, autoimmune demyelinating condition, bursitis, Bell’s palsy and urticaria/angioedema; bilateral brachial neuritis; meningoencephalitis and optic neuritis; transverse myelitis, serum sickness and pain amplification syndrome of childhood/fibromyalgia; acute disseminated encephalomyelitis; rheumatoid arthritis; significant aggravation of an underlying COPD and other pulmonary conditions, and death.

Despite these weighty concerns, Mrs. Smith’s informed objection to vaccinating is being cast aside by bureaucratic force. The mandate holds that she, her husband, and each of the other children must be injected with the drug, or else their family will be broken apart and their precious “Christmas baby” will be taken away.

“I’m hoping that we can raise enough of a voice that the state will at least give waivers or do something so the children won’t be taken out of their homes,” Mrs. Smith told KOMO News. Her family’s integrity requires that readers and supporters rally against these invasive medical mandates imposed on families like the Smiths.

I wish her well, but she’s up against “the system” and they profit from selling “flu shots” whether they’re effective or not. I recently read another story elsewhere admitting this year’s batch is only 23% effective and you know what that means in reality….2.3% effective.

I like to believe in some of the benefits of modern medicine.Including getting shots. I found out that in AZ. Flu shots are not required for kids going to school. I just get tired of my kids bringing home all the sickness from their school.People send their sick kids to school,i guess they need someone to babysit while they go to work.I figure that is also why there is a push for year round schooling.
I try to eat well and take vitamins. I like taking something green like Alfalfa or chlorrela. I
think it is a good idea to try and make yourself strong to fight off sickness.

Like most who grew up in the stone era, we used Merthiolate which was described as tincture of mercury, for scratches and cuts. It did not leave the meaty scar that new gels leave.

I have never had a flu shot ever and I can’t even remember when I last had a cold, must be at least 40 years or more.

It wouldn’t surprise me if soon it becomes an “Obama Care” requirement that everyone must have a flu shot.

Well it’s not her child. It’s a foster kid owned by the State. I don’t agree with it but it’s their kid…..their rulz!

I used to wonder why there were so many un-adopted kids in this country and then a few friends became foster parents as a prerequisite to adopting kids. The hoops they were made to jump through is unreal. One friend, an avid gun enthusiast, was required (unlawfully) to register all of his guns with CPS. He refused and was told that foster parents were not allowed to have guns in the home even if they were secured in a gun safe. He moved the guns to the homes of a few friends and foster parent status was allowed. He fostered three kids for the required time until he was allowed to adopt. Once the adoption was complete the guns went back home. That is only the tip of the iceberg regarding the BS they suffered during the process. Every fucking week brought a new hoop. It was so bad that it actually interfered with caring for the kids. Twice they were moved to “respite care” while they focused on jumping through hoops. I finally asked him to stop telling me about it because it pissed me off too much. He documented everything that was going on and filed a formal complaint once the adoption went through. It turns out that three of the case workers were making up their own rules.

On the other hand, my best friend was required to get a physical before final adoption was allowed to proceed. He wife was not required to do so. Turned out to be a good thing though. They found he had leukemia. It did not interfere with the adoption though and after lots of chemo he is in remission.

IS – what you said is true – they can make the foster care rules.

Wish they would require welfare folks to show drug free, etc. to get the bennies.

I stopped reading at a foster mom. Simple solution, give the baby back.

I agree in one sense, that the State has the legal authority to demand this, whereas the foster mom has no legal authority whatsoever to resist . If only it were that simple. As an adoptive (and formerly foster–) father, I can tell you that the protective parenting instinct kicks in and that this foster mom is defending this baby as if it were her own against something that she (and I as well ) consider a horrific act.

My wife and I didn’t vaccinate any of our three adoptive children for the same reasons this woman describes. My children are far healthier than any of their peers, hardly ever getting sick and recovering very, very quickly when they do. My wife and I researched this issue extensively when faced with the decision, and are adamantly opposed to vaccines.

That said, however, this child is a ward of the State and as such the State has final say. That just may be the greatest tragedy of all.
