BRING SOME MARSHMALLOWS

This is video of the latest in a series of explosive train derailments over the last few years. A 109 car CSX train derailed earlier this week in West Virginia. It was carrying some of that good old North Dakota fracked oil. Well, at least we know it burns just as well as regular oil.

And these oil cars were the new super safe railcars that are supposed to resist rupture. I think CSX may have been sold a load of shit, because these railcars didn’t resist too much.

I wonder if the costs of these unfortunate accidents are factored into the shale oil miracle storyline. Obama and his environmental nazi minions do everything they can to block the Keystone pipeline and other rational pipeline extensions. With oil at $50 per barrel, these pipelines probably no longer make much sense economically. But from a safety and environmental standpoint how can they possibly argue that sending oil by rail across our horrible rail infrastructure is a safer and more environmentally friendly method.

Before 2009, fewer than 10,000 tank cars of oil were transported by rail each year in the United States, according to the railroad association, but that traffic jumped to more than 230,000 cars in 2012, and more than 430,000 in 2013. It surely passed 500,000 cars in 2014. Warren Buffett, Obama’s good buddy, owns billions in railroad shares. Killing the Keystone pipeline keeps uncle crony capitalist Warren rolling in the dough. That makes for large political donations. Who cares if a few people burn to death and a few rivers get contaminated.

It’s funny this happened this week, because while I was driving in to work last week on my beloved Schuylkill Expressway I saw at least a 100 car train of nothing but oil tankers clanking down the tracks at Belmont Avenue. You can see the rail lines in the left hand part of this picture.

As usual, my mind immediately thought of the worst case scenario. The tracks were elevated just above the Eastbound lanes of the only major artery into and out of Philadelphia to the Western suburbs and King of Prussia. If an oil train was to derail and burn in this section, the Schuylkill Expressway could be shutdown for days or weeks. The Schuylkill River is below the expressway. It would be contaminated with the oil.

This is not a ridiculous possibility. These trains have been derailing and blowing up on a fairly regular basis. Where is the outrage from the liberal greenies? Why aren’t liberals supporting more pipelines? The hypocrisy of Obama and his minions is breathtaking to behold. Transporting a highly volatile substance by rail when it can be transported safely through a pipeline is idiotic.

The good news is the shale revolution will be short lived. At $50 per barrel, shale fracking for oil will be dead within two years. The Canadian tar sands are also a money loser at $50 per barrel. The amount of oil needing to be transported will be crashing in the near future. Sorry uncle Warren. You lose.

OK, speaking of marshmallows, bring just one for this short video.

A Nazi Ukie soldier talks to the camera … says it’s perfectly OK to kill CIVILIANS. Just SECONDS later his ass gets blown the fuck up by an artillery shell. hahahaha This is the definition of Biblical Justice.

Why is that cop car facing the wrong way on that on-ramp?

Stucky , I thought you thought this was a random universe. Remember Jesus telling us we would be either justify or condemned by our words.

Let’s be honest now, Admin…the Keystone XL pipeline is configured to pump Bakken crude from Canada, South thru the U.S. to refineries on the Gulf earmarked for export to foreigners. Meantime crude that is destined for East Coast delivery will STILL be delivered by tanker cars. In summary, all the Keystone XL does is make it easier for Canuks to market their oil with zero benefit to Americans and all the environmental risk. Did I mention the proposed route take the pipeline straight over the Ogallala Aquifer which is used for irrigation of the “breadbasket” of U.S. agriculture.

Have they ruled out terror attacks /sabotage? How many trains carrying oil have derailed?

TBP,

I have read that fracking only gets 6 to 9% oil recoverable in the given frack zone and should technology improve, the recovery zone could go as high a 15%.

I have also read about refracking the old wells, and Conco Phillips is the leader in this new method.

@Westcoaster, since the oil is being shipped no matter what, how is a pipeline MORE dangerous to the environment than hurtling a flammable product through space – and major cities – on rails?

What part of the Canadian town that burnt to the ground incinerating dozens of people is “more environmentally friendly” than a pipeline?

Wow, there is not one issue in this country that hasn’t been corrupted and hijacked by bullshit.
