Heroin Deaths In The U.S. Are Skyrocketing

According to analysis by InsightCrime.org, the DEA has indicated that 50 percent of heroin sold in the US is produced in Mexico, between 43 and 45 percent comes from Colombia, and the rest from Asian countries. Almost all of it is supplied by Mexican cartels. I wonder how many of those illegal immigrants pouring over the border are actually smuggling heroin into the country. I think it might be time for SSS to pony up and get back down to South America and win that War on Drugs.

Deaths from heroin overdoses are skyrocketing in the United States, according to a study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Between 2010 and 2013, they nearly tripled. Over 8,200 Americans died from heroin overdoses in 2013, averaging 23 every day.

One possible explanation for the increase in overdoses is the abuse of prescription painkillers. 75 percent of people who started using heroin after 2000 previously abused prescription opioids like oxycodone and fentanyl. Many switched to heroin because it was cheaper, easier to obtain and chemically similar to those opioids.

The death rate for males was nearly four times higher than for females in 2013. Indeed, Britain is experiencing a similar trend in terms of drug poisoning, especially in terms of gender. Men are far more likely to generally take risks than women and are more prone to ignoring the dangers of drug abuse.

Wow, what a shock.

We enter Afghanistan and re-invigorate poppy growing, now we are shocked.

We shipped family/self supporting jobs overseas, and we are shocked that voluntary and involuntary (overdose qualifies) suicides are increasing.

Oh yeah, we prescribe mind/chemical/hormonal altering chemicals to CHILDREN and pregnant women, then are SHOCKED when we see increases in addiction.

We have leveled all that once made us great and are shocked that a growing population with no, or little, hope self-medicate.

Then we are shocked when self-medication goes bad.

Even the reality of abject failure cannot remove our Puritan, “just say no,” country philosophy and creed.

Many more will die. No amount of laws, shitting on the constitution, or killing “others” will change that.

Success.

Flash, you miss the point.

SSS (if we believe him) was simply the enforcer of the tribe’s larger delusion.

Today we laugh and poke fun at prehistoric savages who believed all sorts of weird stuff. “Silly savages,” we think to ourselves in our arrogance.

People are exactly the same today as they were 10,000 years ago, just we wear coats and ties and talk on our gadgets. We revere, despite or are terrified by a different set of totems, but it’s all the same.

This drug is “good” (because the humans on the FDA’s organizational chart say so, and the government-licensed and government-funded-trained and paid physicians agree) and this drug is “bad” for the same reason. Then we erect a massive edifice to enforce these decisions and then create an entire mythology (for backstory) and a massive propaganda vehicle to rationalize it all (and bury any inconvenient facts that belie the whole sorry superstition.)

If SSS were enforcing political consensus that All Citizens Must Smear Blue Paint on their Foreheads or else the Gods of Blue will rain hellfire on our villages, I assure you his conscience would be just as clear.

And because I know I’m surrounded at all times by savages, I’d ask my neighbor to “pass the blue paint.”

Man is a social animal, most people are idiots and the urge to lord over others is embedded in most of the sociopaths who are born. We are thus always and forever ruled by scorpions.

“Obama had written in his first book, “Dreams From My Father” (1995), before entering politics, that he had used marijuana and cocaine (“maybe a little blow”). He said he had not tried heroin because he did not like the pusher who was trying to sell it to him.”

Just think, if the dealer would have been a little nicer someone would have ended up in a gutter wallowing in his own piss…..

By the way, those who parrot the “legal opioids lead to heroin addiction” narrative are likely fools.

1. Vicodin (Hydocodone/APAP) is a gateway drug like pot is. In other words, such claims are facile lies, because the drug everyone tries for mind-alteration before all others is ethyl alcohol.

2. Any SSS-style-enforced regimen cracking down on illicit use by definition cracks down on licit use. It’s all a single continuum, and anyone telling you otherwise is a moron.

3. I have sold pharmaceuticals in this area for a long, long time. What makes it into the news is so laughably perpendicular to reality that it reads like fiction to me.

4. There actually is a product that appears to be just as effective a pain-reliever as morphine, oxycodone, hydrocodone, oxymorphone and hydromorphone (the Big Pills) but apparently has far less interest from recreational users.

The FDA prohibits discussion of this because the DEA classifies the drug to which I refer in the same class as the others.

It is ILLEGAL TO TELL THE TRUTH (or perhaps, say what is so far fairly well documented from multiple, unrelated sources that are not in the pay of the manufacturer in any way.)

Don’t listen to what people say, watch what they do.

No one in authority in the USA gives a rat’s ass about addiction or any of the related issues. Not one.

card802.

Consider that as the highest Executive officer, he is enforcing laws that, had he been caught and convicted, would have prevented forever his ascent to his lofty place.

We are governed by rank hypocrites, who destroy the lives of others for conduct they themselves undertook.

How many of SSS’ co-warriors smoked a little weed? Did a line or two? Looked the other way if their son or daughter “experimented?”

Makes me sick. The enforcers are like 14th century priests, talking piety and chastity from the pulpit and banging the nuns and the wives of absent knights at every opportunity.

Come to think of it, the War on Drugs is simply a subset of the Worship of the Political State, and politicians and bureaucrats (including enforcement bureaucrats) are simply this dominant religion’s priests and deacons.

I guess that makes Obama the Pope of Statism.

@DC, you are on fire today. Thanks.

Bush is well known to have been into blow. Clinton too.

Reagan came from the elite and Hollywood, you cannot tell me he didn’t either knowingly partake or associate/support those that did.

Hypocrites all.

And you are 100% correct in tracing this hypocrisy back to the earlier church/kings. Nothing has changed, just the letters following their names and artifices, underlying reality is the exact same.
