RIDING THE SUBWAY IN PHILLY

You should see the nice commercials SEPTA runs non-stop about the joys of using public transit in Philadelphia. What a fucking joke. The subways are filthy, with rats outnumbering riders. As you can see, feral dogs roam the underground stations. The smell of urine and feces wafts through the cold, dank, poorly lit corridors. Graffiti decorates the walls and subway cars. Bums sleep on the platforms. Just another day in ghetto town USA.

Glad the DC Metrorail isn’t like that (I use it a couple of times a week). Of course, my commute is only on the Northern Virginia side of the system, and my transfer point is the Pentagon station, so no riff-raff there. Just guys like this…and don’t take pictures–“No Photographing” signs are everywhere at that stop.

He’s hoping this group of “children” learns this is “not the way to behave”? Hey, maybe they’ll see this, get the message, and now become good citizens.

So much for my idea of stringing up a few of the little bastards every so often.

If Obama had a son, he would be this loser who stole a heart from some vastly more deserving transplant candidate:

Note that the hospital originally thought this guy was a bad candidate, but outcry from the usual entitlement mob got that decision reverse. And the perp was wearing an ankle monitor at the time he was seeking the transplant!!!

Serious problems here:
1. Even if you’re attached by a mob, if you shoot anyone you’ll be crucified for shooting “unarmed teens.”
2. Tactically, even trying to draw when surrounded like that invites someone to wrestle you for the gun, and if they are stronger/luckier/etc. you get drilled with your own firearm.
3. Even using pepper spray in such a confrontation is extremely challenging.
4. It is almost certain that carrying a concealed weapon on mass transit is illegal anyway, so a good, middle-class, employed person with lots to lose is going to knuckle under and avoid the potential for arrest (and life-destruction) for CCW, even if licensed.

Riding mass transit makes it almost impossible to make oneself safe from criminal violence.

PS: I concur with the notion that if a few well-publicized instances of feral “youths” getting visibly ventilated (security cam footage of their final moments being well-televised) might reduce this sort of BS. Most people persist in believing that if someone just punches or kicks you, it’s like TV and the movies, you’re none-the-worse for wear. This is far from true. A single punch can leave permanent disability, and anyone who throws an unprovoked fist should be fair game to die for their transgression.

One of my favorite lines from any movie is John Wayne’s character in his final movie, The Shootist, where he states that he basically gives no offense and accepts no offense, that he’ll not have a hand laid upon him (without trying to kill the person who did it.)

While not “legal,” we’d live in a much more peaceful land if this was the norm. Keep your damn hands to yourself, keep your hands off me and my property and I’ll do the same.
