I think a Roomba would drive me nuts with it’s random movements and always bumping into shit. Seems to me you could add proximity sensors or even a laser scanner that would allow it to “map” a room instantly.
Besides, my dogs would kill it unless it fought back.

Just give that laser scanner a high power setting, that should take care of the dogs.

Get the LG robot – the one with the three cameras. It has very convenient USB connectivity, and runs a Linux kernel, so the opportunities for judicious “Feature Extension” are significant.

Roomba’s are junk. Cost at least 250 last 6 months. Cheap vac <100 last at least 10 years
