@flash, funny stuff.

We could, in all actuality, cross off “millennial” and insert “X’er” or “Y’er” or “Boomer.”

I’m simply amazed every single time I am out and about with groups of people. Fat, tatted and glued to their shiny screens. People of all ages.

I do believe we have reached Post-Survival. Literally we have evolved to the point we CAN’T care for ourselves anymore. We HAVE to rely on others and experts and supply chains.

We are so screwed, at least this made me laugh. Thanks

What surprises me most about working a menial job is how the younger millennials quit. They do not give two weeks notice, or even a phone call the day before. They simply stop showing up and you never see them again. On Thursday they go through all the motions, not a hint or warning of what’s to come and by Friday they’ve skipped town. The millennials are, more than even the previous generations, devoid of any sense of responsibility or pride. The employer and the job exist to serve them. When it no longer meets their needs, they simply up and leave.

This mirrors their conduct in relationships. They have no problem feigning normalcy, right up until the day they end the relationship via three word text message and are never seen again. Technology has made living a double or even a triple life so easy that most are constantly cultivating backup options in a Machiavellian fashion. This is some low-level psychopathic behaviour that most seem to be exhibiting. On any given day there is a 10% chance your millennial employer is just going to not show up, or your millennial significant other is just going to walk out the door.

@tumbleweed.

They were RAISED that way.

It is not the fault of the child he has no manners, nor loyalties.

It has been, and always will be, the fault of the parents for not teaching them.

Our youth is 100% a reflection of OUR skills as parents. We abrogated those long, long, ago. And we really are shocked when Cops take kids to State control for walking alone? I don’t, I can see exactly WHY they feel so self-righteous in their evilness.

Want good young employees? Know their parents first. Or know what to look for when interviewing them.

I’ve found the first couple months are more teaching what is expected from all good employees, versus what is expected for the actual job. Which is why I, by and large, don’t hire many youngsters.

ps- I also let them know the law allows a couple things they should be aware of, #1 is that if I have documented proof of their inadequacy as an employee, like quitting without notice or attendance that I’ve written them up for, I CAN and WILL tell any future reference checkers. They are told this BEFORE I extend an offer.

#2 is that is 100% LEGAL to discriminate against a millennial based on nothing but age. Federal law only applies to those over 40. For now I am legally justified in not hiring them based on nothing but age, I just call it lack of experience.

Most kids believe an employer CAN’T say “bad” things, even true ones, and that is simply not true (though does not preclude the lawsuit, just the to date outcome), and that we HAVE to hire them. Just like it is still legal in most states to bust your kid’s butts with your hand, the vast majority believe it to illegal.

Neither is true, they deserve to know the truth and I’ve always been the employer that will tell them about it.
