There was a protest yesterday in Philly. The organizers surely don’t sense the irony of their slogan for the rally – PHILLY IS BALTIMORE. They are right, but for reasons they refuse to acknowledge or comprehend.
The march started at 40th street in University City and proceeded down Locust Walk through the University of Penn campus. I wonder why these protestors weren’t at work in the middle of the afternoon. I guess they all used vacation days to protest the death of Freddie Gray and let us all know that black lives matter.
It’s funny, because a black cop was gunned down in cold blood by two black thugs a month ago in North Philly and there were no protests. Not a peep from the black community. It’s funny, because a white man walking his dog was slaughtered by two black Overbrook High honor students in West Philly a month ago and there were no protests. White people didn’t burn down their CVS as retribution. Black people are murdering other black people on a daily basis in Philly, but there are no protests. But an incident that took place 120 miles away in another city is reason for protest in Philly?
The protestors do have one thing right. The Philadelphia police department is a corrupt, union controlled, out of control organization. Dozens of Philly cops have been arrested in the last few years for drug dealing, shaking down innocent college students, unlawful arrests, bribes, etc. Their union fights every case, no matter how egregious. Police brutality against blacks, hispanics and whites has been well documented. Their pay and pension benefits are bankrupting the city.
As expected, the 600 to 800 protestors threw bottles, provoked the police, blocked highways, abused innocent bystanders, and wreaked havoc in Center City for a few hours. At least they didn’t burn, loot, or riot. I guess that is progress.
Philly is Baltimore. It will only take one incident of white policemen killing a black person to set this city ablaze. West Philly and North Philly are like drought stricken tinder in a ghetto forest of dilapidated hovels waiting for a spark to ignite. The similarities between Baltimore and Philly are as clear as day to any critical thinking non-liberal. West Philly and North Philly are 80% black. They are racked by poverty. The true unemployment rates exceed 50%. They have a 50% high school dropout rate. The SAT scores in the union teacher controlled public schools are lower than whale shit. Crime is out of control, but they have the toughest gun laws in the state. The city is bankrupt. The infrastructure is rotting. Businesses are fleeing. Taxes are outrageously high. And what is the common thread?
Philadelphia has been completely under the control of Democrats since the 1950s. Every policy, program, initiative, regulation, law, and mural of black people doing great things has been implemented by liberal Democrats. The mayor, most of city council, chief of police, school superintendent, most of the school board, and over 40% of the police force are black. It appears that black lives don’t matter to black leaders. The poverty, corruption, crime, welfare dependency, and civic decay of Philadelphia are due to the liberal policies and leadership of Democrats for the last 65 years. Philadelphia is Baltimore, and it will burn in the very near future.
Admin – you lost your chance to step right outside your door and have a rational, civil discussion with the protesters and bring up the points you’ve made quite convincingly here. Perhaps the next time, amid the flames.

Ya know, there is a common theme here: Dem-Lib Prog control of a city = total disaster. Add in the destruction of the black family by the policies of the Great Society and we’ve got that Detroit-Mogadishu vibe going on.

These national race incidents (Trayvon, Mike Brown) seem to usually be hyped leading up to an election. Of course, killings of young black men happen all the time – some justified, some not. The media seem to promote them when the timing’s right. Freddie Gray is a spontaneous one, it would seem. There will be another one to help get out the black vote for Hillary. Or perhaps Freddie Gray’s killers will be acquitted just in time to serve the same purpose.
