HOW ABOUT SOME OBAMAINTERNET TO GO ALONG WITH YOUR OBAMAPHONE

This article sells this idea as if it is no big deal. They try to convince you that the Obamaphone meme is false. They declare it was a program started during the Reagan years. It’s the usual progressive liberal bullshit about the poor not having access to cell phones.

Here are the facts:

    • This program cost $800 million per year before Obama entered office.
    • This program now costs over $2.2 BILLION per year after Obama and his minions advertised the availability of these Obamaphones and begged their voters to get one.
    • You, the working taxpayer, pays $2.50 per month on your cell phone bill so the free shit army can call in their drug deals for free.
    • Obama and his minions also thought it was a good idea to give out these subsidies without making anyone prove they were eligible. Easy peasy. The corrupt phone sellers were thrilled. And the free shit army’s eyes lit up.
    • After the blogosphere began revealing the massive fraud and cost to the American taxpayer, the FCC was forced to make people prove they met the eligibility requirements.
    • In a shocking development 41% of the Obamaphone recipients could not or would not prove their eligibility. That puts the annual fraud amount at around $900 million.

As you can see, this is another highly successful government program. So what do you do with a program racked with 41% fraud? If you are Obama, you expand it to cover internet service for the free shit army. You have to hand it to the liberals, they know how to solidify their core voting base. Just keep doling out more free shit.

FCC proposal would extend Lifeline voice subsidy to broadband

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission will consider including broadband within a controversial program that subsidizes telephone or mobile service for poor people.Recipients of the FCC’s Lifeline program, which provides a US$9.25 monthly subsidy for voice service, could use that money to purchase broadband service instead under a proposal from FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler. Eligible households would continue to receive one $9.25 monthly subsidy, and they could choose whether to apply the money to traditional telephone service, mobile service or broadband, FCC officials said Thursday.Conservative critics of Lifeline call the program Obamaphone, and they portray it as an attempt to give poor people free mobile phones in exchange for votes for President Barack Obama in past presidential elections. A single YouTube video from the 2012 election season drove part of the misconception about the program.

In some cases, the subsidy is enough to cover the cost of an inexpensive mobile phone and monthly service. But the program predates Obama’s arrival in Washington, D.C., by nearly two decades. The original program was established in 1985 during the presidency of Republican Ronald Reagan. Lawmakers tied its funding to the FCC’s Universal Service Fund in the Telecommunications Act of 1996, eight years before Obama was elected as a U.S. senator.

Calling broadband an essential service, FCC officials said Wheeler’s proposal would “reboot” the Lifeline program. The FCC, in 2012, passed new rules intended to deal with fraud and abuse in the program. About 48 percent of U.S. households making less than $25,000 a year have broadband service, while 95 percent of households making more than $150,000 do, the FCC said.

Under Wheeler’s proposal, the FCC would establish minimum service standards for both voice and broadband covered by the subsidy, and the agency would seek public comments about those service levels.

In addition, Wheeler would establish an new independent administrator to determine eligibility for Lifeline benefits. Now, telecom carriers determine who is eligible for the program, and critics have complained that the current setup invites waste and fraud.

I’ve read in the Minneapolis Star and Tribune (AKA The Red Star) that minorities are hit hard by traffic ticket fees. They have a hard time paying for driving without a license, driving without insurance, and a myriad of other moving violations. Then they pay more for not showing up in court.

When will we be paying for this shit??????

A top Obama campaign contributor is Carlos Slim.

The world’s richest man is apparently making a lot of money off a government program aimed at helping the poor Americans.

Every time someone gets a phone through Lifeline, a government program that gives phones to low-income Americans, TracPhone, a company in which Mexican telecom mogul Carlos Slim has a controlling stake, nets $10, Fox News reports. The company’s CEO, Frederick “F.J.” Pollak, who is a major Obama donor, also makes a profit from the data plans and minutes beneficiaries of the Lifeline program buy.

It’s like a blur reading the headlines on this site. ” Obama, Obama, Obama…” Yes… We all know the tea party is all about filtering money from a choice selection of conservative billionaires but if their true desire is to ensure their profits and vehicles for producing further profits are protected then it would be better for them to focus on candidates for 2016. Hence it’s rather curious for me the concentration on Obama since he is towards the end of his presidency.

Net neutrality was a sound decision for Americans. I will assume if Presidents Reagan and Bush wanted this for use of cells, perhaps it is as well?

Funny, I googled your so-called “facts” and came up nothing..THEY DON’T EXIST. you just pulled these numbers out your ass. Whether you admit it or not (and you DON’T want to admit)

Here are the REAL facts:

The program started as a landline program under Reagan and was changed to cell phones under George W.Bush. The program is run by the phone companies, not the government.

It was a Reagan era bill, Reagan created it, Reagan signed it into law. Reagan owns this, not Obama.

I’m guessing you also don’t care that Reagan tripled the national debt during his stint in the office.

Google it, because, unlike your “facts” mines are easy to find.

Texting and driving can kill you.

Give ’em all phones!

Quizzlingman, you are jumping to some bad conclusions early in your venture here. That can be painful. Don’t assume because we say obama, we lick bush’s boots. This ain’t a red/blue site. Huffington post doesn’t have a comment section. No lib site can. So reagan gave away the store? That’s what’s wrong with america? Thanks for sharing, midget
