I once had to give a 15 minute presentation to a group of graduate students (and yes, I were one of ’em but never got ‘er dun) on the best ways to convey meaning about objects nonverbally to “someone” who doesn’t know what those objects are. In other words, I had to explain how I would teach someone that a ball was round without using the words round, circular, spherical, etc., and then how a ball is used. Along the way, I discovered that one of the best ways to assign meaning to something is by demonstrating or explaining the opposite and then making it obvious that the converse was the true state.
I came to believe that logically, this is always true.
