You’ve Been Warned – Calls for Mandatory “National Service” for Americans Aged 18-28 Has Begun

CHAPTER ONE

War is a Racket

WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives.

A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people. Only a small “inside” group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes.

– From Major General Smedley Butler’s War is a Racket

This is one of the most important articles I will write all year. The statists are coming for your kids, and the conditioning has already begun.

Last night, I came across one of the most horrifying articles I have ever read, which is saying a lot. Before I get into it, take a look at the title and the tagline:

Screen Shot 2015-06-17 at 11.10.35 AM

If you think the title is bad, wait until you read the article. What becomes evident is that this grotesque concept of forced “national service” is being actively discussed at the highest levels of government. What Ron Fournier is doing in his National Journal article is conditioning the public to accept something that is completely unacceptable.

Before we get to that, who is Ron Fournier? National Journal provides a bio:

Ron Fournier is the Senior Political Columnist and Editorial Director of National Journal. Prior to joining NJ, he worked at the Associated Press for 20 years, most recently as Washington Bureau Chief. A Detroit native, Fournier began his career in Arkansas, first with the Hot Springs Sentinel-Record and then with the Arkansas Democrat and the AP, where he covered the state legislature and Gov. Bill Clinton. In January 1993, Fournier moved to Washington, where he covered the White House and presidential campaigns for the AP.

So basically, this guy covered Bill Clinton in Arkansas, moved to the District of Criminals after he was elected President, and now wants to convince you to subject your innocent children into mandatory service to a nation provably run by corrupt criminals and oligarchs.

It sure is some twisted notion of “shared sacrifice,” when those who had nothing to do with the disastrous choices made by the oligarchy are the ones who have to suffer the consequences.

Let’s now take this piece of Nazi-esque propaganda apart piece by piece. From the National Journal:

I know a better way to fight ISIS. It starts with an idea that should appeal the better angels of both hawks and doves: National service for all 18- to 28-year-olds.

Require virtually every young American—the civic-minded millennial generation—to complete a year of service through programs such as Teach for America, AmeriCorps, the Peace Corps, or the U.S. military, and two things will happen:

First of all, he confidently proclaims that this scheme will appeal to both hawks and doves. Based on what evidence? Let me provide some evidence against his argument based on a recent Rasmussen poll that 45% of U.S. Voters Concerned Government Will Use Military Training Exercises for Power Grab. Here’s an excerpt from the findings:

Just 20% of voters now consider the federal government a protector of individual liberty. Sixty percent (60%) see the government as a threat to individual liberty instead.  Only 19% trust the federal government to do the right thing all or most of the time.

So the American public has no confidence in government, but somehow they are going to gladly line up to serve the corrupt oligarchy? Of course not, which is why people like Ron Fornier want to make it mandatory. Now back to the piece…

1. Virtually every American family will become intimately invested in the nation’s biggest challenges, including poverty, education, income inequality, and America’s place in a world afire.

2. Military recruiting will rise to meet threats posed by ISIS and other terrorist networks, giving more people skin in a very dangerous game.

This may seem like a radical plan until you compare it with two alternatives: the status quo, which clearly isn’t working, or a military draft, which might be the boldest and fairest way to wage the long war against Islamic extremists.

Notice how he offers us only three options, as if that is all the imaginative well of humanity is capable of coming up with. Forced national service, the status quo or a draft. Nowhere does he offer the logical alternative of say: stop preemptively invading and destroying countries for no reason (Iraq, Libya to name a few). Perhaps then idiotic foreign policy decisions won’t create ISIS in the first place.

This is an important lesson in how statists operate. They only offer you statist choices. Kind of like being forced to choose between a Clinton and a Bush for President.

The Draft Act is highly unlikely to be law, given the nation’s post-Vietnam resistance to the mandatory military service and the relative success of an all-volunteer armed forces. Which leads me to the year-of-service plan: It stops far short of a draft while drawing on the ethos of communal sacrifice.

Notice how he cleverly started the piece by mentioning the Peace Corps, Teach for America, etc, and only listed the military at the end? Pure smoke and mirrors. His entire point is to push for mandatory military service. No one wants to fight any more unnecessary wars to boost corporate profits, and any statist worth his or her salt knows full well mandatory conscription will be necessary in order to maintain the power position and wealth of the status quo going forward.

Finally, just in case you think this is merely some hack journalist mouthing off, Mr. Fournier makes it clear that this is being discussed at the highest levels of government.

I spoke about the concept with retired Gen. Stanley McChrystal, who commanded forces in Afghanistan and Iraq and now chairs the Franklin Project, part of the Aspen Institute that is trying to position a year of full-time national service—a service year—as a “cultural expectation, a common opportunity, and a civic rite of passage for every young American.” His logic tracks with mine.

Second, if this president or his successor gets serious about ISIS, McChrystal said the effort would require an international coalition and more U.S. troops. “Even if we didn’t need a draft” to drum up the required troops, McChrystal said, “I would argue we need a draft, because it forces national commitment.”

Forced national commitment to a government nobody believes in. Can’t wait to see how that works out.

“A problem in America is we’ve let the concept of citizenship diminish into a series of gripes,” McChrystal told me. “One of the ways we can rebuild that sense of ownership, sense of shared ownership, is through experience, and so I believe that every young person deserves—I don’t think this is an onerous thing—deserves the experience of being part of something bigger than themselves.”

No General McChrystal, we have let the concept of democracy diminish into a corrupt, thieving oligarchy. In case you need proof: New Report from Princeton and Northwestern Proves It: The U.S. is an Oligarchy.

Furthermore, you don’t “rebuild ownership” by forcing citizens to serve an oligarchy they hate, you “rebuild ownership” by dismantling the oligarchy.

Bowing to political realities in risk-averse Washington, the Franklin Project aims to make a service year a social expectation rather than a legal requirement. I would mandate it. So would McChrystal—if he had his way.

Statists gonna state.

While ISIS and other terrorist groups are having no trouble recruiting suicide bombers, McChrystal said, Americans are struggling to redefine their national identity for the 21st century. “A year of service for young Americans would be a step,” he said. “Not a panacea, a step.”

This paragraph unintentionally says a lot. You want to fight an army of radical volunteers created by your own foreign policy crimes by forcing people who have no trust in their government to join the military? It’s an idea so stupid and destructive, only a rabid statist could conceive it.

Before concluding, I want to emphasize how dangerous this line of thinking is. It is precisely because I see these sorts of things coming down the road, that I do what I do with this website. The only way to stop statist plans like these is to win the war of ideas before they have a chance to dazzle you with their next bit of propaganda.

Stay vigilant and keep fighting.

Cant say I would mind seeing some millenials trade their little tiny suits, flip flops, iphones, and micro aggressions for some camo, guns, and real serious fucking aggression. But of course they dont draft injuns, drunk or otherwise.

IndenturedServant

Oh goody! The minnies hate their parents and boomers so they’ll have no problem at all obeying the shoot to kill orders!

This kind of shit is an oligarch/fascists wet dream! They even get to create a big trillion dollar dept to run it all.

I suspect they’ll encounter some resistance when they try to pry the iCrap from their paws. LaQuisha and Tyrell from da hood gon be straight trippin’ up in da Peace Corp! Can you imagine po’ hood rats livin’ in tents in the Congo while serving in the Peace Corp? Damn!

I was drafted during Vietnam by a gungho North Florida county “Draftboard” of one old farmer in coveralls that told me: “You got a cullege deegree an yo gonna serve ya cuntry”. Unless they take all youth (rich Yankees, females, flatfooted, obese etc) then the draft will be unfair and should be unConstitutional. Hard to fight stupid wars without cannon fodder.

LOL, it’s not about service but indoctrination. You’ve got to figure that a solid year of forced attention 24/7 will be enough time to get 99.9% of them to think what you want them to think, do what you want them to do, vote the way you want them to vote, consume what you want them to consume, kill who you want them to kill, etc.

Wasn’t it Lenin that said something to the effect: once you control the Media and Education…

Our gov’t has already achieved these goals.
I can’t imagine the new breed of youngsters in combat, unless one thinks these twinks wearing high heels can somehow become manly..

Come on mike kreiger. You gonna waste our time with this bullshit this week? Wanna do some good? Start screaming about TPP as loud as you can. That matters. That threatens us. Right fucking now

star….this article is a part of the whole, just as is TPP. As much as I am against TPP, TPIP, TSIA, I recognize that they are a part of a grand plan.

DC Sunsets

A-holes like Sen. Rangel have pushed this meme for decades….without any success.

I can’t predict what will occur when the crises begin to wash onto our shores in wave after wave of hardship and chaos, but at least until then this kind of national slavery is DOA…albeit a zombie they keep trying to reanimate.

Want a year of “national service”?

Okay… we will agree to it if – and only after – the following are accomplished.

1. Start taking seriously the Constitutionally-mandated (You “SHALL” do this, in other words – no “if’s” or “may’s”) requirement to protect our country from invasion. In other words: BUILD A FUCKING WALL BETWEEN US AND MEXICO. A big one.

1a. Deport the invaders. All of them.

2. Knock it off with the trumped-up wars. Tired of seeing guys at the VAMC with no legs because you wanted your stock of Bombs R Us to go up a quarter point.

3. Knock it off with the spying. All of it. In fact, why don’t you just dismantle the NSA altogether and revoke their charter? That would be nice.

4. Stop flooding our country with crazy-assed, head chopping fucks stuck in the 7th Century, then claiming we need even more spying and other shit because of “homegrown terrorists”.

5. Repeal the 1965 Immigration Act in totality.

6. Repeal all Civil Forfeiture laws. State and Federal. All of them.

7. Stop giving machineguns and armored vehicles to the cops. Forever.

While I’m at it, here’s some “nice to have” stuff that would, well.. be nice to have. Not necessarily a deal-breaker, but they’re on the table…

8. Go back to having Senators chosen by State legislatures. Congresscritters represent the people. Senators represent the individual States and Commonwealths. The Feds have their own representation. That’s the way it was designed. You fucking with it hasn’t helped. At all.

9. No more Super-Pacs. No more lobbyists. No more AIPAC influence peddling… Term limits on those elected.

10. No more vague, nebulous, never-ending “war on terror” and “war on drugs”…

11. No more for-profit prisons.

12. Start obeying the Constitution.

13. No more Judges-for-life. Tired of these motherfuckers legislating from the bench. ESPECIALLY the supreme court…

14. No more dual-nationals in Congress, Senate, Federal Service, Judges, etc…

15. Repeal NFA 34, GCA 68, Omnibus crime bills of 89, 91, 94, etc… matter of fact, just disband the whole ATF…

16. Start holding the goddamned banksters responsible for the havoc they have wreaked on us… it’s not like we don’t have fucking prisons and laws and shit… might want to try using them for purposes other than keeping us uppity proles in line… we might start to think there’s a double standard…

17. Reign in the goddamned EPA, the BLM, etc. Those fuckers are out of fucking HAND! You need to get control of your shit…

I got more, but if you fucks want “national service”, then we’re going to have to start seeing some motherfucking Return On Investment… why give you fags one second of “service” if you’re just going to shit all over us? Historically, not awesome.

You do the above? Then we’ll talk…

Till then, feel free to suck all the dicks in this bag…

Thank you.

^^ I don’t disagree with a word.

I’d add that if the above was accomplished, people might start feeling proud of their country again and national service wouldn’t even have to be mandatory – people would volunteer.

I’d add that if the above was accomplished, people might start feeling proud of their country again and national service wouldn’t even have to be mandatory – people would volunteer.

I KNOW! Right?

PeeJay, I know I’ve picked on you before, but if some doosh came to your door and said:

“Hey, I’m just here going door to door to inform you… we’re repealing property taxes – forever. And we’re going to try and pay you back for the taxes the State has already taken – because we think it’s paying “rent” on your own stuff. You shouldn’t lose your home because you can’t pay property tax.

Since we’re such strong believers in private property rights, we think property taxes flies in the face of the Constitution…. oh, and by the way, we’re looking for volunteers.. the rock wall down at the state park needs attention and there’s some trash along the highway that needs picked up…. I have a list of stuff that needs done – can you take the time to look it over?”

You do that? You’d have folks lined up to do stuff… having fistfights to be the first to do stuff… in fact, I’d bet you’d run out of stuff to do before you ran out of people to do it…

It’s simple. Return on Investment. Stop shitting on people. Do your job. Obey the law.

Billy

Tommy,

Appreciated… y’all come over and we’ll have a bonfire and pass around a jug….

You do that? You’d have folks lined up to do stuff… having fistfights to be the first to do stuff… in fact, I’d bet you’d run out of stuff to do before you ran out of people to do it…

You bet I would! My friends and I would make a game of it. We’d get together, split a few bottles of wine or some beers (or a jug) and then take our plastic bags out and give each other shit while we filled them with trash and cleaned things up.

Property taxes piss me off. Whatever we need for roads and streetlights and snow removal could come out of sales taxes or gas taxes. Paying taxes on something you already own is EXACTLY like paying rent on your own stuff. What, my home belongs to the county and I have to pay rent to live here?

But it’s for the schools! If we’re going to keep spending $10K per year per student, we have to have property taxes to pay for that. Except that if the cost was shifted where it should properly be shifted – on the parents – I can guarandamntee you it wouldn’t cost any $10K per year per kid. Most of it is nothing but tax-sponsored daycare for godssake.

Well, if you find someone to deliver that message, let me know. I’d vote for them and give them cookies when they came to the door.

starfcker

I bought my first house in 1988. 2/2, maybe 1700 sq feet, but in a killer neighborhood and only a couple of blocks from the beach. My property taxes on that house were peanuts, 1200. when I sold it in 1998. I had done extensive renovations and doubled the value of the house in 10 years.

Billy
Billy

PeeJay,

Don’t get me started on the whole ‘property taxes for school’ shakedown…

Again, it’s simple Return On Investment…

If our schools were really kicking ass and we were turning out world-class students, I wouldn’t have nearly as much heartburn as I do now…. and they might be able to argue from a point of strength. That being, “Hey, we’re cranking out some seriously heavy hitters! You want to end that?”

But given the piss-poor performance of the students and highly questionable curriculum, all’s it ends up being is the Teachers Union arguing to keep their cushy jobs. For fuck’s sake – my own son was never taught how to write in cursive!!!! I was learning how to write in cursive in 2nd Grade! I had to, literally, get a freakin’ chalkboard and teach my own son how to write in cursive!!

If I’m teaching my own son what he should know – as well as UNLEARNING the stupid shit he’s “taught” – and then breaking out my Daddy’s schoolbooks (bless his soul for leaving them to me) and teaching him the right way to do shit – then what the fuck am I paying them for??

Matter of fact, my efforts have been so successful, my son is now in AP classes – blowing the doors off his tests – because I took the time to unlearn him of the bullshit, then reteach him the right way to do shit…

So, my question stands – if I’m having to teach my son what you’re not, then what am I paying you for?

starfcker

I looked it up on the internet, and here are the property taxes now. 2005-$6718. 2006-$8471. 2007-$8938. 2008-$8028. 2009-$6499 2010-$4997 2011-$5703 2012-$5836 2013-$5963 2014-$6002. In florida, owner occupied sort of grandfathers in your taxes, and ag exemption wipes them out

starfcker

My old house is now a section 8 rental, 2500. a month, according to trulia. Government gives, government takes. My god, I put a good down payment, but my mortgage payments were only 593. 9 grand in property taxes?

starfcker
starfcker

I honestly had no idea property taxes could be that high, or that volatile. That’s beyond a racket

starfcker
starfcker

I never had an issue with property taxes, they always seemed reasonable. I don’t mind paying my fair share for civilization. But that was a starter home. A nice one, but tight for a family. I’m starting to think section 8 is far more widespread and insidious than I ever imagined.

Persnickety

Among a long list of other problems, this clearly violates the 13th Amendment (which bans slavery).

Of course, the Constitution is hardly followed or respected any more, so I’m sure that won’t be even a speedbump.

Pirate Jo
Pirate Jo

Paying your fair share for “civilization?” Um, go read Billy’s most recent comment, where he says he is having to spend his own time and resources to teach his kids what they need to know. It’s not government schools civilizing children, it’s their parents!

Government schools are nothing but taxpayer-funded daycare to the lazy, and a way to help kids from shitty families to the most well-intended. And every once in a great, great while, some kid with shitty parents manages to get somewhere because of school.

But you know what? If you don’t have the resources (time, money, the ability to find your own ass with both hands, whatever) to feed, clothe, and yes – educate – your own children, then (wait for it …) DON’T HAVE KIDS! Free breakfast? Free lunch? None of this is free, it’s just a way to feed the children of people who have absolutely NO fucking business having kids in the first place. School for these kids is nothing but a fast track to prison anyway. We’d all be better off if they didn’t exist. They hog such a disproportionate share of the school’s resources, just dealing with all their behavior issues, the kids who might actually learn something from the experience are left to their own devices to do “SRA” reading packets or whatever the teacher gives them when she doesn’t know what to do with them.

In spite of all the government schools, things are exactly the way they would be if education was completely private. The misbegotten and numerous children of the mouth-breathers wind up illiterate, fucked-up, and eventually in prison, and the well-tended one or two children of the bright people end up learning mostly from their experiences outside school anyway and end up doing just fine. But we keep these stupid things going, paid for by property taxes that say I have to pay rent to the county to live in my own paid-for home. Of course I think it’s stupid! If you want my money to make things better, I’ll happily donate to a fund to put birth control in the water.

If we really want to eliminate ISIS a great first step would be to stop funding them.
The entire “war on terror” is a racket and 9/11 was an inside job funded by Saudi’s.
