Sunday’s Vote Will Determine Liberty Or Serfdom

Guest Post by Paul Craig Roberts

According to history books, democracy originated in Greece. Of course, historians could be mistaken, but this is the prevailing view among Western populations with enough awareness to be interested to know.

What we are witnessing today, July 2, 2015, is that after 2,500 years in the Western World only the current Greek government is interested in democracy. The Greek government, to the surprise and consternation of every other European government, has called a referendum for the Greek people to decide the fate of Greece. For resorting to democracy, the Greek government has been universally denounced in the Western World.

So much for Western democracy.

The greatest and most successful propaganda scam in history is the one that convinces the world that they are nobody if they are not part of The West, the indispensable peoples, the exceptional peoples. If you are not part of The West you are nobody, nonexistent, a nothing.

This prevailing propaganda might prevail in Greece on Sunday, in which case a fearful and intimidated Greek population might vote against the only government that, instead of accepting a payoff from Greece’s enemies, fought for the welfare of the Greek people.

If the Greeks vote for their oppressors and against their own government, democracy in the EU will cease to exist.

2,500 years ago Greeks saved their independence from the Persian Empire. Sunday’s vote will tell us whether Greeks have again served liberty or whether they have succumbed to Washington’s Empire.

The fate of all Europeans and of Americans themselves will be settled on Sunday.

The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything.

Heard an interview with some Greeks on NPR. A guy said he was going to vote “yes” for the troika plan because he wanted his children and grandchildren to be “part of Europe, not part of North Africa” (as if the country could be picked up and relocated). Voting yes is like an alcoholic voting to put off going sober. They’ll vote yes.

The Greek bank closures were inspired by the Troika; this was to let the people get an early ‘taste’ of what to expect if they vote to leave the EU. Rather intimidating if you can’t get your money in the bank to buy food.

I hope the Greek people rise to the occasion and vote, No. But, there is a lot of truth to what ‘taxSlave’ says.

I was thinking that Alexis Tsipras needs a referendum to put the choice on the Greek people and save his party. In other words, Tsipras is going to go along with the Troika but doesn’t want the blame for going against the platform that brought him to power. Which is NO MORE AUSTERITY.

The outcome of the vote count will be YES. If not it will be rigged to reflect a yes vote. All those no votes will end up in the Mediterranean.

No one ever checks whether the vote was tampered with after the fact. Who really knows whether the Scottish people really voted to stay in the British Commonwealth.

The criminals are running your life. It has probably always been so, but now, with the internet, it’s becoming more obvious, except to the real dullards.

The problem is to many people who live off the government. I read an article about government jobs .You can retire after 20 years with full salary and benefits for the rest of your life. The private sector can’t support the system anymore. Just giving them more money will change nothing. They are going to have to cut spending.Just like the American government.

Actually, Western Civilization has been awesome, until just recently. The Greeks are, regardless of what happens in this jerk-off voting scam, or if their country is reduced to feudal status, still a part of Western Civilization.

The West is the best. Why else would millions of impoverished dregs try to enter it? Are they pouring into any non-white country, unless they are starving refugees from a war, like the Syrians, for example?

I like PCR and his perspective, but he is wrong to downgrade the West. We are exceptional. However, our so called leaders suck moose dick. Traitors all.

Interesting to watch. The Greeks are between a rock and a hard place. The only way out is for them to invent a perpetual motion machine. I hope they do it because I want a lot of free shit and not pay for it.

bb–The government by all measures that count is broke. The government gets its money to give to the people by issuing bonds to private parties and from the FED. When the FED prints money out of thin air and gives it to the government, that new money dilutes the purchasing power of all the existing money in circulation. So, the price of real goods goes up because the dollar is worth less.

The private sector supports the system in two ways. It pays taxes and it produces real goods. The taxes collected pay the interest on the national debt and but not enough is collected, so the production of real goods is what counts, but less goods are being produced. So more Americans are trying to live off a shrinking economic pie. Soon those that produce will only produce for themselves and will produce less. Socialism will reach the point where the government runs out of other peoples money to spend. The cannibalism has already begun.

No matter how they vote, the Greeks still face the simple problem that they can’t pay their own way and need someone else to do it for them.
