Three people were killed and at least 31 others, including a 7-year-old girl, have been wounded in shootings across Chicago since late Friday.
The most recent fatal shooting happened about 1 a.m. Sunday in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side.
Two boys, ages 16 and 17, were standing on the sidewalk in the 8200 block of South Ingleside when someone walked up and fired shots at them, according to Chicago Police.
The younger boy suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 2:05 a.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. His name was withheld Sunday pending family notification.
The older boy was shot in the leg and also taken to Christ Medical Center, where his condition stabilized. A police source said the 17-year-old is a known gang member.
About two hours earlier, a 44-year-old man was shot to death in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.
Adrian Jeffries was standing on the sidewalk about 11:05 p.m. in the 6000 block of South Throop when someone got out of a black SUV and opened fire, authorities said. He was struck in the head and back and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2 a.m.
Jeffries was from Holland, Michigan, about 30 miles southwest of Grand Rapids.
The first homicide of the weekend happened shortly after 4 a.m. Saturday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.
Two men, ages 28 and 34, were sitting in a parked vehicle in the 2900 block of West Lexington when a black vehicle pulled up alongside them and someone inside opened fire, police said.
The older man was shot in the chest and shoulder and was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:36 a.m., authorities said. His name still was being withheld Sunday night.
The younger man was shot in the neck, chest and shoulder and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where police said his condition stabilized. Investigators think the shooting was gang-related.
The weekend’s first shooting left a 7-year-old girl and 32-year-old man wounded in the Kenwood neighborhood on the South Side.
They were in a vehicle about 10:40 p.m. in the 4600 block of South Ellis when someone walked up and opened fire, police said. The man then drove them to the University of Chicago Medical Center.
The girl was shot in the arm and was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where she was expected to be treated and released Saturday morning, police said. The man, shot in the back, was treated and released from the University of Chicago. A police source said he is a documented gang member.
The most recent shooting happened early Monday in the Altgeld Gardens neighborhood on the Far South Side.
A 35-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the 13200 block of South Eberhart about 5:15 a.m. when someone walked up and opened fire, police said. The man was shot in the upper left portion of his torso and was taken to Christ Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
Earlier Monday, a man was shot during an attempted robbery in the Washington Heights neighborhood on the Far South Side.
The 23-year-old was in a vehicle stopped at a red light near 100th and Halsted about 2:25 a.m. when another vehicle pulled alongside and someone inside announced a robbery, police said. The person then pulled out a handgun and opened fire, striking the man twice in the left arm, police said. The man then drove himself to Roseland Community Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
At least 25 other people have been shot across Chicago in separate attacks since 11:45 p.m. Friday.
Additionally, Chicago Police officers shot and killed a man who they claim tried to run them over with a car early Saturday in Pilsen.
I only know one thing for sure, i dont care about their problems.
They need to ban .22 caliber handguns in Chicago. Were I mayor I would have a gun exchange program whereby people could trade in their .22 and .38 and get .44 magnums and .50 caliber handguns with RFID chips in them so police could track them if they left the city limits.
All this black on black killing is because hordes of white folks drive into these neighborhoods on an hourly basis and scream racist things at blacks and give blacks all the guns/ammo they want. Some white people go so far as to help the blacks hold the gun, aim the gun and pull the trigger!!!!

I’d rather just lop off the far south end of the city, and the far west side and let them have their own municipalities. Without those neighborhoods, we’d have some of lowest crime rates in the country, and the cost of running our police, fire, and emergency medical services would drop steeply.
Now, if I could figure out a way to keep them from coming to other parts of town…. trouble is, Section 8 has polluted almost every nabe and every burb but the most exclusive, so you have some of these mutts no matter where you move, and you also have their relatives and, uh, business associates who float in from the south and west sides.
I’m curious whether Adrian Jeffries of Holland, MI is black. Holland is about 98% white and is extremely insular, to the point that it’s unfriendly even to white Michigan natives who aren’t both of Dutch ancestry and from the area. Of course he could be part of the other 2%.

After 20 months of issuing concealed carry licenses there are reported to be about 120,000 in circulation, most of them I’m told for residents of Chicago (possibly the metro area, not just city of…).
As noted on the Second City Cop blog, undoubtedly most of these people firing the guns have their CCL and FOID (firearm owners ID) cards up to date, right?
Illinois remains among the least gun-friendly states. You need a FOID card to buy ammo (or even mail-order it now.) Don’t even think about buying an actual gun without the card, and they do actually revoke them for a variety of causes.
Oh, and no one in his right mind will sell one privately to someone who doesn’t have a card, because the state promises to back-trace and you’re on the hook, legally, for 10 years after the sale, to have all the records in order.
Yet….
Somehow….

There’s ways around everything… even that insipid FOID card…
Ghost Guns. Made in the Philippines, in little shops out in the jungle. By hand. Really. No serial numbers, nothing. Except the caliber.
They get a few together and ship them into the US on a container ship. Once inside the US, they are shipped to places where the prices are best for such things – Chicago, Detroit, New York, etc. They go for thousands of dollars. They’re used a few times, until they generate a ballistic fingerprint trail, and then they’re sold, shipped elsewhere, then resold.
Eventually, they’re played out. Nobody dares use it. So they are sold, shipped south of the border – the farther away, the better – and resold to other criminals down in Central and South America, since our databases and their databases are not connected.
One Ghost Gun might have dozens of murders on it – hundreds, depending on how long it is held and used – before being shit-canned and disposed of.
And the cycle begins again…
There was a special on Ghost Guns on the documentary channel… like I’ve always said – if someone wants something badly enough, they’ll get it. If they can buy it, they will. If they cannot buy it legally, they will buy it illegally. If they cannot buy it illegally, then they will make it (or have it made).

I live 30 miles north of Holland Mi and when I started my business in 1987 it was as you said, if you were not Dutch, or from the area, bye.
Today not so much, maybe 75% white with a large population of Hispanic, followed by black and then aisian. There was a new highway built between Grand Rapids and Holland so they get gang activity from GR and Benton Harbor.
The liberals and their diversity plans have really fucked themselves.
Let’s look on the bright side since these people will be coming after us one day- they are terrible shots, how else would you explain only a little less than 10% of the people dying? Of course I’ve tried holding the gun sideways and upside down where I can’t see the sights, I couldn’t hit anything from very far out either. Let’s hope they don’t figure that out anytime soon….
Maybe they just need to ban nightime… Seems to me the common denominator (besides feral kneegrows killing other kneegrows) is that these shootings are taking place during hours of darkness when good, upstanding, law abiding folks commonly take to the streets to pursue amateur entrepeneur endeavours, and cultivate a sense of community and fellowship by interacting in their friendly neighborhood youth organizations… Better lighting and minimum caliber laws might ensure higher percentages of hunt success to kill attempts. I would also do away with bag limits but impose minimum height and sex requirements; only the feral males may be hunted, and only if they have gold capped teeth, sideways or rearward facing baseball cap or baggy shorts hanging off the ass with a minimum of 2″ of underwear exposed.

@Card, interesting info. I regularly visited the Holland SP beach through maybe 2013 or so, and it was always white as white can be. I had occasional problems there – but with local Dutch teens! Not big problems though, just guys being asses. And the pretty women somewhat made up for it. I didn’t spend much of any time around town besides the beach. I know Benton Harbor is basically no-man’s-land these days. When I was a kid Grand Rapids was entirely safe but so boring there was never a reason to go there. Now it has cool stuff and nightlife, but is a place to carry a gun. Sigh.
It’s interesting the number of TBP regulars from Michigan.
Climb up the huge dune in Holland State Park. You can see all of Lake Macatawa, plus Lake Michigan, of course. It’s spectacular. Easiest way to get to it is from the Lake Macatawa Campground on Ottowa Beach Road, about a quarter mile from the park entrance. Couldn’t find a good pic, though.
Lake Michigan sand dunes are friggin awesome!!!
