THE NEW MIDDLE CLASS

“The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. … What country before ever existed a century and half without a rebellion? And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.”

That doesn’t represent the middle class where I live. Of course, I’m in the People’s Revolutionary Workers Paradise of Connecticut. The upper middle class are tickled pink, the poor are drugged and clueless as usual, and the working class are bewildered, but sooth their confusion with drugs and booze.

The classic middle class of professionals see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil. As long as they are making the mortgage payment, the Audi lease payment, have great vacations and can eat out many times a week, they don’t give a shit.

The new middle class is going to resemble the old poor.

I have seen the “old” middle class. They’re in rural America and number in the millions. They work hard at low paying jobs and will do anything to make ends meet. They are comfortable, and they are fine.

It is the “new” middle class that is in trouble. The overpaid government workers – local, state, and federal. Big trouble. There’s a reset button coming for them. It will be painful and widespread.
