From Denmark With Love

Via Doug Ross

An interview with a Dane for America:

Bernie and Hillary are in love in with socialism. Both of them want a romantic affair with Socialism from Denmark. However, they do not tell the American people the parts of the romantic deal that will ruin many American families financially.

Jonas Christensen is a Conservative Dane, who has lived all his life in Denmark. He does not recognize the paradise-like picture that is painted by Bernie and Hillary concerning Denmark. Nothing in Denmark is free, regardless of what Bernie has stated several times. Jonas goes on to say that they do not have free healthcare and they do not have free education. These institutions are paid for by taxes… taxes that are defined by the OECD as the highest taxes in the world.

We have not heard from Bernie or Hillary on how they will pay for the healthcare system or the educational system they have in Denmark. Let’s look at how the Danes pay for those systems. Here are some of the taxes Americans are going to pay, so the Democratic love affair can become a reality:

– 180% car tax. If you want to buy a car in Denmark, you have to pay 180% more than the actual price.

– Death tax. If you die, your heir must pay a tax to inherit.

– 25% consumption tax on all goods. When you go to the supermarket and buy groceries, you have to pay 25% more than the actual price.

Those are just some of the taxes that you are going to pay if Bernie or Hillary is elected president. Income taxes are also very high. Danes pay an average of 45% in taxes and some of the wealthiest pay up to 70%.

Jonas says, “I want to send this warning to the American people, so they do not choose Hillary or Bernie as President. I love Denmark. However, I hate Socialism.

Thats the hidden part. As was stated here and elsewhere, all you needed to hear from that debate is that “everything will be free”. Nothing in the specifics, other than “tax the rich” and “tax wall street trades”. What they don’t mention is that “rich” will be anyone that has a job and makes over 50k a year. The truly ‘rich’ don’t make enough by themselves to pay for all this, but whats left of the middle class does.

And as far as taxing wall street trades and HFTs, taxing those transactions would greatly reduce them, and since those microsecond trades account for a large % of total volume, that would likely result in a pretty steep market plunge. Not saying thats a bad thing, and they have a long way to drop to get somewhere near fair valuation, but seeing as how all time highs in the stock market is about the only “good” thing to come out of 8 years of obama, probably not somethin they want to see.

So, what you’re telling me, is that socialists eventually run out of other people’s money?

When these socialists say they will give you this and give you that without your having to work for it and pay for it by taxing someone else I wish they’d present the actual numbers on how this would work.

Trying to tax a trillion from a source that doesn’t have a trillion and not destroy the source at the same time is what it looks like will happen to me.

But their minds just don’t work that way.

Still, I’d like to see them at least try to present something mathematical based on the real world to justify their position.

If they elect another Dem. for Pres. and a Dem. majority in CONgress, the U.S. as we knew it will be gone forever.

Not that I like Rep’s.

To give you a sense of scale, the Houston metroplex is BIGGER AND HAS MORE PEOPLE THAN DENMARK.

No sane person thinks you can scale up a system for 5 million people for one for 300 million – in a land mass, I dunno, 100X bigger.

But it’s Dems we’re talking about here. Math is not their strong suit.

Those pesky facts getting in the way of reality. I would suggest the Dane not try and vacation in ‘Murka unless he be Fostered.

You never know the true cost of something until the day it is “free.”

Full Retard. As if the other side is any less “socialist.”

The ENTIRE system is nothing but organized theft. Changing the head of the Family does nothing to change that.

Imo through Obama care, flooding country with illegals, the socialist will tax with abandon until no one owns anything. It will all go back to the gov.Inheritances, property, and by collapsing re setting dollar,SS,bank acc,EVERYTHING.Choices people will be left with?Gold, leave the country while one still can, sell everything off, go underground, and barter goods and services. They know this too,and imo why the socialists want your right to bear arms-As Ann Barnhardt said if you can not stand over it and protect it with an AR15 you don’t own it.

@persnick: Not the STATE of Texas, just the Houston metroplex which is about 5-6 million people and 100 miles in all directions from downtown.

Your link was for the entire country of Denmark which is only 6% of the entire state of Texas.

A good friend of mine is from Denmark. The reason, as he explained to me, why the best and brightest Danes left the old country and came to America was socialism and the high costs associated. Why work so damn hard and take such great risks to become successful if the gov just takes it from you and gives to another for doing jack shit?

His father built a cheese factory across the street from my shop back in the 80’s. They employed over 40 people and shipped their cheese all over the US.

Because of ever increasing and changing government regulations and higher taxation they closed two years ago because try as they might, they could not continue to pass on the increased cost of doing business onto a weary consumer.
The very reason they abandoned Denmark caught up to them and also caused their demise here.

Lot of pain to endure before the people who vote for this shit will get a clue, that is, if they ever get a clue. I’m not holding my breath.

Hope, Mapfight didn’t have an option for Houston, otherwise I would have used it. I kinda figured anyone familiar with both Texas and Houston would know about how big Houston is and be able to visualize it in the map overlay.

Anyway…
Denmark proper is 16,562 square miles:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denmark
The Houston metro area, as VERY generously defined as a region of Texas, is 10,062 squares miles:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_Houston

I’ve driven around Houston quite a bit. While it’s big, I don’t agree with metro-region claim. But no matter, even if I did agree with it, Denmark is 65% bigger.

This puts paid on your “Houston is bigger than Denmark” claim. Remember, just because some Texas guys claim “mine is bigger” doesn’t make it so. 🙂

(No offense Hope, I’m not out to get you, I just have the personality that I can’t leave something alone. Not exactly rare on TBP.)

The Middle Class lifestyle in Denmark has not declined more than the Middle Class lifestyle in the U.S. Everything has been turning to shit for the Americans too. There is more going on in the world to cause this than simply the evils of socialism. Without government, it will end up every man for himself. Situations like that never turn out well for the average person. The biggest thugs will rise to the top. We are watching it happen today.
Like energy, power does not disappear, it just changes form (who has it). Be careful to whom you advocate handing it.

I am so sick and tired of hearing about Denmark as if it is the gold standard of societies. Mind you, my son married a Danish lady, so I hear about it often. She is a full blown socialist that believes that healthcare is an inalienable right, that socialists “invented” infrastructure (I have to remind her that the Romans built infrastructure in the form of roads, aqueducts, and even sewers thousands of years ago.) and that even if you built a business from scratch, you really didn’t build it because your workers use government built roads to get to and from work. Our conversations about her homeland, where they have shitty weather, shitty food, Legos and Hans Fuckin’ Christian Anderson are generally short-lived.

Sometime ago Francis Fukuyama in his book ” Political Order and Political Decay” coined the term “isomorphic mimicry”, by which he means the error that poor and developing countries make when they adopt the formal institutions of the developed world in the absence of the underlying values, habits, and culture that make those institutions effective. What Sanders and Clinton are suggesting and advocating amounts to reverse isomorphic mimicry. As the late, once upon a time, raging socialist Tony Judt pointed out in his last book, and others here have, Denmark is a homogeneous society. The U.S. is not. Their institutions and societal groundwork are simply not transferable to a country the size, and diversity of the U.S. Our underlying values, habits and culture differ greatly than those of Denmark.

As of late, even Denmark is realizing that their bloated welfare state is simply unsustainable, especially with their liberal immigration as it pertains to Muslims who are setting up “Sharia Zones” in Copenhagen and other cities. The new Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen, leader of the center-right party “Venstra” (which means left, but go figure) is drastically scaling back welfare payments, especially to immigrants. Muslims regularly parade through Danish towns and cities chanting “Death to Denmark” and other provocative chants while the locals sigh and shrug it off. Denmark is beginning to run out of other peoples’ money, and a growing Muslim population with a much higher fertility rate than the local citizens is beginning to strain any remaining elasticity left in the system.

Sanders and Clinton intend drain funds from a handful of billionaires, but that simply won’t suffice to achieve their visions. The producing middle class, or what remains of it, will be hammered significantly from a tax standpoint. Denmark’s culture has evolved over many centuries, the U.S. is a relative infant. What Sanders, Clinton and their fellow social justice warriors would do well to remember is that Denmark is full of Danish people, the U.S. is not.

Point Persnick.

HOWEVER, the Houston metroplex is hotter than Denmark, so there, lol.

My POINT is that implementing a system that is already not working so well in Denmark with a population of 5 million is complete INSANITY to try that in the USA with a population of 330 million on a landmass that is 228.18 times bigger.

People are so interested in FREE SHIT and how much shit one country provides over another. it ALL BULLSHIT. Your arguments about Denmark vs. USA are Full of shit.

Do you want free shit? Or do you want freedom? Free shit DOES NOT equal freedom. There are very few God given rights and they have never been better stated than in the Declaration of Independence. Before the creation of Israel God only gave Noah one command and that is the sanctity of human life. Specifically: “Whoever sheds human blood by humans shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made mankind”.

I use Noah because the Law as given to Moses was for a specific nation. It was given to Israel. No other Nation was called to obey the laws of Moses.

No offers of FREE SHIT. Just a simple respect of the sanctity of human life. Beyond that I owe you nothing. I respect your life and you respect mine. THAT’S IT. I will take freedom over FREE SHIT every day. Because the only way for me to get the FREE SHIT is to confiscate it from someone else by gunpoint and that is braking God’s command.

Don’t give me your Jesus or Good Samaritan arguments. Both acted at all times out of FREE WILL. Christ acted out of free will all the way to the cross. If he didn’t go the cross by His own free will then His death on the cross was pointless.

Go enjoy your FREE SHIT…… I will take freedom over free shit every day. And yes I will fight for that right. When you come to take my shit by gun-point I then have the God-Given right to protect myself and my family from your guns.

The USA is a whole lot bigger than Denmark. Population matters, geographic size, not so much. As others have pointed out, the HUGE REALLY IMPORTANT DIFFERENCE is that Denmark until very recently was incredibly homogeneous in terms of race, ethnicity, religion, cultural values, social norms, etc. etc. The US wasn’t homogeneous at day 1 and it isn’t today. There’s a lot of things that work decently in a quality homogeneous culture that fail instantly with a polyglot empire.

Most of TBP’s members are white, and most of the rest have what I will call white values. There’s a pretty strong belief in honesty, fairness, following the rules and expecting others to do the same. Hardly any other groups believe in these things when interacting with “others”, so white America is 100% taken for a ride, fleeced, robbed, embezzled from, cheated, cuckolded, etc. whatever you want to call it. Some of them are too blind to say, and some of the young or especially useless ones are aware of it and proud of it. Scum. You can’t play a fair game when the other participants are cheating nonstop.

We pay a car tax in Virginia. It’s 3% of the sales price initially, then it’s based on the depreciated value of the car each subsequent year. It comes around at the beginning of every October and it’s a big bite in the rear if you bought a new car or if you have multiple cars. The fees vary by county. When we lived in Alexandria City, we had the “privilege” of paying a $35 decal fee per car so I could stick a sticker on my windshield and not rack up fines from the meter maids whose sole job it was to cruise the city streets ticketing expired meters and tacking on extra charges for no car tax decals. We moved our family further out into the ‘burbs and no longer have to pay the decal fee, but we got nailed with higher insurance rates on our vehicles instead. It seems my fellow drivers in this new county get into their fair share of accidents moreso than the city dwellers do, hence the higher rates.

While the car tax stinks, the overall tax rate in the state (income, sales, property, etc.) isn’t as horrible as the People’s Republic of Maryland. No sane person with a family lives in Washington, DC – not unless they’re a high priced lobbyist living in the tony Northwest section of town (on the border with the People’s Republic of Maryland).

And paying 180% of the value of the car is just plain stupid. No wonder the Danes ride so many bikes or walk!

@ admin- thats what Ive said about wy we can’t be like denmark every time its been brought up. 50 million or so black people, 30 million mexican/central americans that are entirely dependent on the govt. No, not every single one of them, but MOST of them. Enough so that their form of socialism will never work here.

And this “B” person is clearly a troll who hasn’t been reading here for long if he thinks anyone here supports cronyism, war, or banker bailouts. As though we don’t want to end those things just as much as the rest of it. When I say I want to end the “welfare state” I mean ALL of it, including corporate welfare, which most definitely includes all the stupid shit we are doing that requires us to constantly buy more overpriced weapons systems that don’t even work, but get funded anyway because they have managed to make parts for it in 44 states, so even though EVERYONE knows its a piece of shit, it gets funded anyway because so many congressmen have a factory in their district that has something to do with its construction(Im talking about the F-35).

The economic system in this country no longer works for the majority of people in it. It has become a predatory system that has little relation to what we experienced in the 50’s and 60’s back when we had a progressive tax system and when people in industry occasionally thought about the “Common Good”.
While welfare for the poor does not work, the bigger economic problem is welfare for the rich. Just the amount spent on baling out the Banksters in 2008 would pay for welfare for the blacks for a hundred years. To get rid of welfare, you need to have jobs for all who want them and not jobs that only make it affordable to live with your parents or in your car. If you think you canjust ignore the economic situation of a big percentage of your population and think your live will go on like it has, you are mistaken, to translate Brecht, “first comes the food, then the morals”
