Gangsters With Badges

Guest Post by Eric Peters

Here’s a CNN news story about a Prince George’s County (MD) Hero who pointed a loaded gun, gangster-style, at the head of a man stopped over a traffic violation:

The man was threatened with summary execution for the high crime of exiting his vehicle and what amounts to “contempt of cop.” The Hero initially lost his taxpayer-subsidized employment, but until the video got loose, was not charged criminally with anything. It is only because a third party managed to video the incident that the Hero ended up facing charges.

Which is exactly why these incidents continue to occur.

We – that is, the non-badged – are reminded often that we must obey the law because if not there will be consequences. This rule does not apply to those who enforce said laws.

To unholster a weapon for the purpose of intimidating another person is criminal brandishing, a felony.

To point a loaded gun at someone who is unarmed, not attacking you with clearly lethal intent, who is trying to retreat, is (minimally) aggravated assault: “An attempt to cause serious bodily injury to another or to cause serious bodily injury purposely, knowingly or recklessly, with an extreme indifference to the value of human life.”

A very serious felony. angry pig pic

This Hero is obviously guilty of both these offenses. Yet he will not even be charged with either. Indeed, he will not even be issued a ticket.

He will merely turn in his costume – and probably within six months, have secured employment as a Hero with another department. Where he will almost certainly do the same kinds of things to other people – like a pedophile priest who moves from one diocese to another.

Cops are hated because they are thugs – legally protected thugs.  And they are thugs precisely because they are legally protected.

You get what you encourage.

In market economics terms, this is called an incentive.

What is the incentive for cops to exercise restraint? To resort to violence as a last resort? To ask the question is to answer it. Cops have every incentive to escalate; to resort to force first. It ought to be the opposite – for exactly the same reason the cops and cop apologists trot out in defense of the very laws they demand be applied to us but which they very clearly do not wish applied to themselves:

To give them pause.

To make them reluctant to unholster that gun – much less point it at another human being – unless they are facing a clearly aggressive person obviously intent on doing them grave harm. That is the standard applied to us. Why should this standard not apply to everyone?

To them?

The fact that it does not is only one facet of the problem. Another is that if we do unto them what they do unto us, we face an even more severe standard than we would had we assaulted another Mundane.

Heroes – and other state functionaries, such as judges, correctional officers (prison guards) and so on – also enjoy special status under the law as Protected Employees (see here) under the terms of which extra-harsh penalties are imposed upon Mundanes who violate their sacred persons.

Our persons, meanwhile, are not sacred.

Which is why ordinary people are routinely treated with contempt – and far worse – by the state’s “officers.” It is not exaggeration to state that we are in the relative position of slaves to masters. Masters were legally able to treat their property however they wished, with little if any legal consequences for even the most grotesque abuse. Slaves were considered property – and the definition of property is an item that you may do with as you like. That you control.whirlwind

When a Hero pulls you over – as in the video above – you are under his control and he may do (more or less) as he likes with you, even to the extent of grotesquely abusing you (under laws that would apply, if the roles were reversed) without much if any fear of serious legal repercussions.

This is not about “bad cops” or incidents out-of-the-ordinary that give the “good cops” a bad name. This is about routine – and policy.

And double standards.

Until there is at the very least an equal standard that serves to restrain these bullies-with-badges, the whirlwind that is building will continue to pick up speed. You can feel it.

And they have sown it.

W/o the prelude to this or circumstances, the video is non-contextual and therefore bogus.

Some people really do not know what it is like to police in the ghetto. They live in well-mannered suburbs with basically law abiding people and use THOSE standards to judge policing in the ghetto (such as the hellhole we know as Baltimore).

Poverty article.

Someone posted awhile back about men needing to be a little dangerous. I agree. Eric is harmless. So he projects onto other people the same level of harmlessness. He is clueless to the fact that their are extremely dangerous dudes out there, and the only way to keep them from harming others, is for men who are a little dangerous themselves, to step up and force the issue. Eric, you can buy testosterone. Liberal weenie

Ok, boobirds, what should this cop have done different? That gun looked to be the only thing that prevented an altercation with a larger man. PG county is 2/3 black, think that’s a fun job? Easy to downvote, speak up, liberals. Tell me how you would have handled that situation. Liberalism is a mental disorder

“Sorry eric. I’ve got no problem with this cop. You do know that neegrow would have fucked you in the ass, don’t you, eric?” – star

Dude, it’s not that I disagree with the premise that the Yoof in question would have fucked over or otherwise did something heinous to us Achromatics… I disagree with you on the grounds that it’s okay to do shit like this to “those people over there” because we don’t like them…

Thing is, sooner or later they’re going to get around to “us people over here”, and by then it will be too late to do or say anything about it…

It’s not that I have any great affinity towards the Yoofs of this country – on the contrary, I could care less about them. But I do have a well-developed sense of self-preservation. It’s in MY best interest to speak up about this shit, because sooner or later they’re going to get around to us… already have gotten around to us…

So, I oppose this on principal…

star,

Dude, it really is me… seriously.

Not a fuckin sock or doppel. It’s me.

How would I have handled it?

I would have started by NOT pointing a loaded gun at someone’s head – especially that fucktard “gangsta” style bullshit the niggers use… if you’re gonna pull it, then you use it. You don’t pull a gun to intimidate someone – even a nigger. There’s rules, and I’m a pro. Or at least I was, once upon a midnight dreary…

Jim,

Seriously – I had this blowtorch post all ready to go to flame what’s-his-ass Mr. Delta Force there, and when I hit “Submit Comment” I got a screen that said:

“You have been blocked from The Burning Platform”….

Not even kidding. Copied my post, saved it, then modified it because maybe you have some kind of filter set up? Nope. Even modded, the post tripped something and I got “You have been blocked from…”

Weird… I’ll see if I can get it to do it again and give you the particulars….

Dude, really?

You’re cool with pointing a loaded sidearm at someone’s head? An unarmed someone? Especially that fucktard “gangsta” style bullshit?

Cops are SUPPOSED to be professionals. Time they started fuckin acting like it.

They hold us to standards. They are not exempt from those same standards simply because they wear a government-issued costume and have a shiny badge…

Okay, this topic tears at people’s hearts and souls. Especially those who are or who know law-abiding and law-enforcing police officers intent on protecting their communities with their service. For those officers and their families, I say “Thank You” and ask that they set aside their Defensive posture long enough to consider what I’m suggesting by making this comment.

In any organizational hierarchy, there are people who have a tendency to abuse their authority over other people who are subject to their orders or directives. Most companies recognize that and protect themselves from lawsuits by providing their employees a route for reporting abuses of authority by management through the grievance process or “open-door policy” of upper management. But in military organizations, which law enforcement organizations parallel closely, there is a chain of command that is top-down in nature and can rarely be confronted. It is a matter of discipline, respect for authority and morale that demands the command hierarchy be recognized. Obey your commanding officer and ask questions NEVER is the rule, not the exception.

One of the characteristics of military life that is hard to explain to someone who has never been in the service is what is termed Esprit De Corps. Loosely, it is a feeling of pride in your position, in your belonging to a group and a form of bonding with the people your work with in a common cause. In reality, it is much more than that. It is the feeling that prods a wounded soldier to limp into the line of fire and drag a dying buddy out so that his body can be sent home for a proper funeral. It is the deep sense of responsibility that a pilot on fourth and final bombing run feels about clearing a safe zone for his comrades on the ground below, even though he is weary of being in the cramped cockpit for most of the day waiting for directions of where to drop his payload to give his brothers-in-arms greatest advantage. It is the inner strength that keeps a soldier plodding forward with his unit, even though he’s seen enough horror in the short time he’s been in the “field” to last him a lifetime. That same desire to protect and serve is what we hope resides in the hearts of all of our law enforcement officers and it is why they are given utmost leniency when they use lethal violence to protect themselves or their partners against an increasingly violence criminal element in our society.

However, I venture to guess, it is also Esprit De Corp that causes the best of policemen to lock arms with other uniformed men to try to cover up the abuse of power and narcissistic tendencies of a few warped men who should not be wearing the uniform. It is the failure of those best of men to step forward and speak out against those warped men when that lethal violence has been misused by one of them. The coverup and the faux outrage by police officers that anyone question any single police officers’ judgment causes videos to be titled “gangsters with badges” and cause the rest of us to look at police cars around us on the highways with a sense of dread.

It is way past time for everyone who is on the right side to do something to change the way bad behavior by a few police officers is accepted as normal and seen as something we all have to accept. Because once you normalize bad behavior, you begin to expect it. And when a part of our society expects bad behavior from every police officer they meet, they see themselves at war.

And we all know how effective was is at fixing things. Let Esprit De Corps be part of your community. It is the only way you can trust your community law enforcement officers. If you live in an urban area where that is impossible, get out. And it isn’t impossible. It is just inconvenient.

I’m with Billy on this one. What else could the copfuk do? Oh, I don’t know…how about the job he was trained (allegedly) for? If the cops act like thugs in thugland then what’s the difference between them? And if officer pup gets used to rousting and threatening homies all day, wouldn’t it be safe to assume that he’d do it to you? If he was scared he should have called for backup and maybe the two cops could play good cop/bad cop and defused whatever the situation was.

Just think….that cop has been on the force for two years, which means that about three years ago he was stacking shelves at Home Depot and thought to himself…”I want to bully and beat people because I got picked on in HS”, so he tried out for the police academy.

Fortunately, he has an IQ of under 85 and admitted to torturing small animals when he was younger, so he qualified to be among the Nation’s Finest…Our Heroes In Blue… To Serve And Protect…themselves and the Richest 1%.

Our boy slid into his state supplied costume, strapped on his gun and stood tall for the first time of his wussy life. As an added bonus his paycheck increased ten fold and he had fantastic bene’s….but then tragedy! He was caught on film having fun with a mundane and is now disgraced, but not for the crime…no no…but for getting caught. That’s the problem with hiring low IQ mouth breathers, they just can’t help fucking up sometimes and making everyone else look bad.

@Billy, after reading comments by you and admin, I’d bet $100 you’ve got some kind of infection on yer computational deevice. Windblows based machines can harbor all sorts of nasty shit while the user has no clue. These little nasties can even hide from some antivirus and malware detectors and can target very specific machines for attack (like admins TBP server while simply replicating and passing itself on via your machine.

There are a number of very good free AV/Malware detectors out there. I believe AVG was one but don’t quote me on that. I’m sure others here can chime in with more info.

I personally use Norton’s and have done so for 10+ years. McAfee always caused other issues for me but their reputation is solid. If you dig around online a bit, you can find discount codes/coupons which allow you to download Norton AV on up to three computers for $12.95/year.

starfcker,

Sure, the guy looks belligerent, but you seriously think he would have assaulted a cop? After the cop had already radioed in his license plate? What’s your evidence? There’s reasons why being a cop isn’t one of the most dangerous jobs, and if the guy doesn’t want the job, he doesn’t have to be there.
