That’s the sort of thing that can get you branded as a terrorist, placed on watch lists, and eventually prosecuted and imprisoned for the longest possible sentence if you manage to commit -knowingly or unknowingly, purposely or not- even a minor infraction of some regulatory law that can be used as a weapon against you.

Interesting. So, based on 30 seconds of research, it seems that the original 13 colonies ceded the western lands to the feds. When those lands became states, according to the Constitution, the only way the Feds could own land in a state is if the state legislature voted to allow it. Did Oregon ever allow it or has the federal government just always asserted ownership from before the area was an actual state?

Federal ownership of territories occurred long before new states were accepted into the union. Moreover, admission of states into the union required their acceptance that federal ownership and authority would persist without hindrance. In addition, the Property Clause of the Constitution authorizes Congress to manage or dispose of federal lands for the benefit of all citizens. Disposal is neither required nor anticipated at any time frame. The Enclave Clause describes how the federal government can acquire new state lands with consent of state legislatures. The militia movement misunderstands the word ‘consent’, which is defined as acquiescence or acceptance and has been understood and affirmed by the Supreme Court. The Malheur was originally federal land with special protections for the Paiute tribe. The acceptance of the Land as a Natural Wildlife Refuge for over 100 years clearly proves legislative consent. Similarly, Yellowstone, Yosemite, etc are legal federal lands.
The Constitution gives the Supreme Court judicial authority regarding constitutional issues. The militia Bundy group ignored this and assumed its own judicial superiority, even organizing its own court system. It also organized its own police, army, and financial planning procedures in an unrepresentative dictatorial manner. Does central economic planning remind you of Stalin? If so, you’re beginning to see objectively what this gang tried to impose.
