THE WORLD’S MOST VIOLENT CITIES

Infographic: The 20 Most Violent Cities Worldwide | Statista
You will find more statistics at Statista

Out of the world’s 50 most violent cities, 41 are in Latin America including 21 in Brazil. The Mexico Citizens Council for Public Security releases its findings on the homicide rate in cities with populations over 300,000 every year. This infographic shows the world’s top 20 cities, with Caracas, Venezuela, in first place with 119.87 homicides per 100,000 residents in 2015.

San Pedro Sula, Honduras (111.03 homicides per 100,000) came second with San Salvador, El Salvador (108.54 homicides per 100,000) rounding off the top three. The majority of the violence in Latin America can be attributed to drug trafficking, gang warfare and political instability.

Well thank God we don’t let that violence so inherent in our central and south American brethren cross over our oh so secure border. Oh wait, my bad.
Bob.

See what happens when you don’t have gun control laws?

Or so I’m told.

Oh no – not another reason for more fucking refugees from South America.

For what it’s worth, St Louis (my native city) hasn’t had “gun control” and has permitted conceal-carry for nearly a decade, yet its murder rate has nearly doubled over the past decade… and that city has been on the list of the top 5 cities for murders per 100,000 population for at least 50 years.

I honestly don’t think gun laws matter a bit one way or the other. Demographics are what matters- I can pretty well gauge a city’s or a neighborhood’s violence by the ethnic mix.

I see no mention of Kabul, or Mossul, or Tripoli, etc. I get the feeling the article is dictated by an agenda other than informing.

I truly believe that if St. Louis and Baltimore put their minds to it they can get those numbers up! USA! USA! USA! Fuck yeah!

You’ve been such a passionate proponent of the wall that I named it after you. I really didn’t say it is stupid, I said it is undoable, too expensive but like any boondoggle, it will get approved in less time than it has taken to pass immigration reform.

Chill, Pancho (my Native American translation of your imperialist moniker, Iska)

Chicago is nowhere near one of the world’s most violent cities.

In fact, if you lopped off the far south and west corners of this city, we’d have a crime rate like most small towns. Nearly all the violent crime – about 90%- takes place within a few areas of the city, and within a few select pockets of those areas at that. Grand Crossing. Gresham. The Wild 100s. Lawndale. Garfield Park. And a few nasty blocks on the north side that would suddenly be very clean if you closed down a few bad apt buildings. I have a friend here who was a one-woman neighborhood improvement agency, who managed to get 16 really bad, gang-infested apt buildings shut down and vacated. Her nabe is now very clean and safe. And this city is full of neighborhoods on the north and northwest side that have never been touched by violence of blight.

But, of course, if the Federal government has its way, every clean nabe left in every city, suburb, and outlying town will be blighted by project Section 8 housing. I mean, we just can’t HAVE areas like Chicago’s far northwest side, still heavily populated by middle and lower-middle-class whites, where you can see little girls careening all over the streets and alleys on their Huffy bikes, or playing hopscotch on the sidewalks, in perfect safety, in friendly, well-kept city neighborhoods. NOOOO. Our overlords won’t be content until every respectable lower-middle-class family of any race or ethnicity is pushed down into squalid poverty by part-time, intermittent employment, and out of their neat little bungalows and condos, into subsidized housing or tent cities, and forced to live side by side lowlife scum.

Correct. Suicide bombings that kill 20, 30 or more innocent people don’t count as murders. After all, the perp committed suicide. Get it?

#1 – I lived for a year in San Salvador, El Salvador at the height of the Salvadoran Civil War, 1982-83. If you were a target for murder (or assassination), as I was, the reason was largely political in nature. I got that and was careful where I went. Those who didn’t paid the price.

#2 – Now, it seems to be random criminal violence that has put that city in the category of one of the world’s most violent.

I’ll take Door #1.

anonymous says: niggers & beaners

Almost 100 years ago, the niggers and beaners were Micks and Wops. Once a certain group becomes respectable, their kids sniff at the new lower classes like they themselves were scions of society.

Somebody wise once said, the poor will always be with you. But they won’t always be the same ethnic group.

That’s true, but I would NEVER call Latinos “beaners.” Never. I’ve been closely associated with Latinos for most of my adult life starting at age 25. And that includes Mexicans.

Have the Latino immigrants to America assimilated well? Yes, they have. Very well. Have many Latino communities proudly maintained their cultural roots as well as pride in their American citizenship? Yes, they have. Very well.

“Beaner” to me is offensive slang. But that’s I and my experience, which includes years of residency in and travel to beaner countries. Heh.

SSS, I resemble all that you say and still fall far short of other Hispanics’ accomplishments. I’m simply acknowledging that we are called beaners by others and that it is the least offensive of slurs. I have said that if used correctly, the term would apply to Mexicans primarily because we love pinto beans. The sexy mulatta is from Salvador and her preference is seafood – lobster, crab, tilapia, catfish and their version of menudo; sopa de pata.

A lot of people here have not had much if any interaction with Hispanics other than maybe recent immigrants, not the best example of Hispanics maybe, but sometimes they can be better examples than the rest of us.

I took the sexy mulatta to King Taco in Glendale today. They are celebrating Chinese Lunar New Year at the Americana. I rarely carry cash but I was glad to have a couple of dollars to give the guy at the men’s room. I actually was looking forward to seeing him. I don’t know him personally but he’s a pleasant Hispanic man and I associate the Americana with him.

–I said, you’re the one here since the opening?
–Yes, I opened this place 8 years ago.
–I remember you from the few times I’ve been here.
–Yes, well, I’m old now.
–Look at me, I say. But I hope to see you again in another 8 years
–Thank you, have a good night.

Anyway, the reference to Micks was to show that there have been slurs for every group that happened to be on bottom of the totem pole. I meant no disrespect to you or Admin or flash.

My son-in-law is Irish. I often wondered what he and my daughter found in common until I learned they were both AF brats at one time.
