The implication being that the decline and fall of the American Empire will come about when the coinage is debased. Twenty dollars used to buy an ounce of gold, now it takes 50 to 100 times that many dollars to buy an ounce of gold.

Funny how the U.S.A’s unit of account, the dollar was 90% silver and was .7765oz of silver until 1965 or 176 years since the Constitution was ratified as part of the organic law of this country. 189 years since the initial organic law the Declaration of Independence was adopted.

In 1965 the silver content was dropped in dimes, and quarters to base metal. Silver dollars were withdrawn and 40% silver half dollars were minted until 1970 when they were replaced by base metal coin.

The coin of the realm was then hijacked almost fully by bank credit in 1971 with the discontinuation of United states notes. Now we are left with base metal token coinage and Federal reserve notes (bank credit).

We now wonder why shit is fucked? Roman history is very analogous to our current times.

How does that square with the new idea of a cashless society and endless digital dollars?

Isn’t it bizarre that, in spite of the Romans feeding the early Christians to the Lions, we now name our dogs Caesar and Nero and our kids Matthew, Mark, Luke and John?

You know everything is wrong when the Constitution mandates that only Precious Metals are money and then TPTB of the Federal Reserve get Congress to outlaw Precious Metals for money and only allow the use of their fiat green paper. Now they will outlaw their fiat paper and mandate only their electronic money can be used to buy or sell and only if you carry their Brand/Chip (the Mark of the Beast). Absolute control of money is absolute power is absolute slavery for the Goy.

Substitute “debasement of the denarius” with QE (=money printing) of The Fed AND “barbarian assaults against Rome” with the open borders and amnesty of the political elites AND WE ARE THERE.

History is Prophecy.

I think Bob answered your question. The point is that at one time you decided what to accept in trade for goods but now the bankers decide you need to accept their [otherwise worthless] paper. Then they decide you don’t need to accept paper, take their cards. They skim 7% off the top and if you don’t pay the balance, you get to pay 20% in interest.

They actually induce you to participate in this extortion of merchants by giving you a 2-5% kickback. Like the guy who married his dad’s mother in law, you are your own Shylock.

That about covers it. We volunteer to hang ourselves.

I saw a video that showed that a day of labor today is still paid in the same amount as a man’s labor for one day in Roman times. Pretty interesting show.

There is no free lunch, it contains a hook.

As I often do, I have a story:

My granny asked her mom, why do you slave away all night making a stack of tortillas to sell every day and all you got for it was a silver coin?

Her mom replied, it’s a silver coin I didn’t have before.

Today, we do not get silver coins that we can have possesion of, we get electronic credits in a bank account. They can disappear in a flash if it so pleases our masters.

I know I will most likely regret asking this……….why are calling yourself Dis Nigga? You are Hispanic. Niggas don’t make tortillas.

Bea, I dissed HSF, the patron Saint of TBP. I got a bunch of down thumbs and could not endure the disgrace.

Being the gentleman that he is, he never protested. It’s just ignorant jackasses that didn’t read clearly; I said he is the perfect hero but he doesn’t put himself in any crappy nail-biting situations, just everyday shit. That is basically the situation with his vignettes, slices of life, they have little conflict. I did like his haunted house story.

I like Billy’s gritty stories better, like the one about his battle with the gopher. Billy does not present himself as an immaculate hero, he shows his deep emotions and dislike of gophers, We feel the attitude of the hunter and the connivance of a tricky critter. There, it was a man vs beast story and it had blood. HSF merely walks a pig home and only at the end we get a bloodless narration of the pig’s death and a short editorial comment.

Excuse me for yawning.

In Shakespeare’s time an ounce of gold would buy a good suit of clothes. Today, the exchange rate is about the same, but I don’t think Brooks Brothers would accept your gold eagle in payment. However, a bespoke tailor in Hong Kong might do so. Devaluing currency is one factor in empire collapse. Corruption is certainly another. I am neither an economist nor historian so what the hell do I know. As a kid I got $2.00 for mowing a lawn with a push mower. Today, you can’t find a kid willing to mow a lawn for any price, even on a top of the line riding mower. Might interfere with their quality game time or texting.
Empires fall and ours will be no exception.

Barter might already be happening. In the town next to the Hedge Fund Ghetto, I know of a Korean dry cleaner who gladly accepts PM’s, jewelry and other items in exchange for cleaning and tailoring.

I also have a good friend who has his own mechanic shop in Hawthorne, NJ who accepts the same, or trade for his services. He’s all cash, no C/C,debit. No doubt the type of business that .gov wants to slaughter into history.

El C. aka Dis N.,
A while back, I got pissed on by a big dog in response to one of my first comments. You gave me some kindly advice and a heads-up on the scene here. Thanks for that, though I still occasionally step on someone’s crank. As for getting thumbs down, another regular observed that they are better than double zeros, meaning that you are at least being read and making someone think.

EC! I’m taking a semi-hiatus from TBP while I get my garden plot ready. I find that if I read too many of the doom articles I come away with a “what is it all about?” feeling and don’t make much progress.

But, in case of collapse, I need a garden to feed the bunnies and chickens.

Every society can only afford to expand their borders so far before it reaches the point of diminishing returns. This poses a serious dilemma for a government, because it must police those outlying areas which its militarily took over while expanding its borders.

It cost huge sums of money to keep and house troops including moving them around the chess board. This is easily done when you can print fiat currency, but when it comes time to pay the piper, the first to go will be those outlying areas where a government cannot afford to police with troops.

We have allowed our creditors to fund our military spending by proxy, because it allowed us to sell bonds to them in exchange for the currency needed to fund those troop movements and the war mongering idiocy at the top of our government.

If a country does not have the funds, it will not expand its borders. If this little bit of logic is ignored such as it has in our government, our nation has ended up with over 500 bases bases in over 130 countries.

The bottom rung of that ladder is obvious, American can no longer afford to police the needs of its vassal states.

Save all Nickels. It’s the only American coin left that has not yet been debased. Get some physical Silver as well at these bargain prices. The Dollar is pooping the bed.
