The Not So Easy Road That Obama Has Paved For Millennials & What Their Generation Is Doing About It

Guest Post by Corey Thomas at Survive The Wild

How is it going? Concerned about the current cast of bipartisan clowns running for the U.S. Presidency? Worried how President Obama is hurting the future of the Millennial generation in America? If so, you are not alone. In a Gallup poll taken in December 2015, 69% of Americans reported that Big Government is the biggest threat to the future of America.

Since 2008, President Obama has taken Executive power to levels that our founders would have revolted at. Recent actions include ending sanctions on the dictatorial Iranian regime, and forbidding a Chinese company from buying four American companies.

The American Constitution makes it clear that these functions of government should belong to the Legislative, not the Executive branch of our government:

“To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes.”  (American Constitution, Article I, Section 8)

President Obama’s blithe disregard for the American Constitution is disturbing, particularly considering he is highly educated, with a J.D. from Columbia University. Why is President Obama ignoring the U.S. Constitution? Perhaps a Victorian Era quote from Lord Acton is relevant, “Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

Christian prophecy websites like Z3News are claiming God will soon dramatically punish America for our sins: http://z3news.com/w/

Why does this affect Millennials & what should they do in order to prepare for the probable outcome of runaway government?

It is their future after all, right?

One of the most important things to do is not panic or violently resist any future actions that the U.S. government or military may take after an economic collapse. Violent resistance (ala Waco, Texas) is always easily crushed by the authorities and brings discredit to those who started it. The superior model for resisting injustice and abuse of power is always nonviolence.

This method was successfully used by Dr. Martin Luther King to bring an end to segregation in the South, and it was also employed by Gandhi to end tyrannical British rule over India after World War II. When people see peaceful innocents being beaten up, they are going to take collective action against those who are doing the beating. Make sure that you are not one of the culprits.

President Obama’s actions will hurt Millennials in the following ways:

  1. Subsidized health care regulated under the Affordable Care Act will become more expensive as you age, requiring a higher tax burden plus long term dollar inflation (loss of value) to fund, cutting in to your savings and retirement benefits in old age.

As a “forward thinker” you should take this into consideration and look into ways to care for yourself without relying on a hospital whenever you can. Medical training is greatly encouraged

  1. President Obama’s emphasis on higher Minimum wages will have the opposite affect of encouraging employers to not hire lower skilled employees whose labor is not worth the minimum wage. More unemployment will and has resulted for inexperienced recent graduates.

This means that your some of your paycheck, in addition to what’s already being taken out for social security, is going to take care of those who aren’t willing to get themselves to the next level to become employable. If that sits well with you then you’re in the right place at the right time.

  1. President Obama’s call for subsidized college education and liberal financial aid to high school students who would not normally be able to afford or qualify for undergraduate education has flooded the market with indebted students with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) college degrees that do not generate the income required to pay back their debts.

The value of having a college degree (particularly a non-STEM degree) has decreased in an employer’s eyes. This is why we see 14% of Millennial graduates still living in their parent’s home, because they cannot generate a salary high enough to own their own home, something unheard of in previous generations.

  1. President Obama’s attitude that we can spend and spend and spend with no tomorrow has encouraged bad attitudes toward thrift, prudence, and wisdom among Millennials. We almost daily see reports in the news of young men killing their peers in schools partly because they have no good male role models to look up to. “I can do what I feel like doing, and no one is going to stop me. That is what I see the rulers of this country doing, so why not me?”

Advice For Millennials From Those In The Process

Many Millennials are adopting habits and a point of view that was once held as a “prepper’s” mentality. They’re storing food and creating strategies to get themselves and their families to safe locations for when something happens.

The fear of the government and lack of trust is no longer a fringe view, but is rapidly becoming the mainstream way of thinking.

Cut up your credit cards. A credit card is a form of short term loan. You do not want to be on the hook for 1000’s of dollars when the economy collapses. Pay back what you owe to creditors and live on 70% or less of your income. Use the cash and envelope system for budgeting. It will teach you to be more careful with your money.

Vote with your feet. As strange as it might sound, more and more people are leaving this country for the 20+ countries that have higher personal freedoms than the United States. An easy step to make a living overseas is to teach English, because many countries (like China) have very high demand for native speakers. This video is a good intro how to emigrate from the U.S. and get a good job in a foreign country teaching English:

https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search;_ylt=AwrTcd0ufPBW70oAiQonnIlQ;_ylc=X1MDMTM1MTE5NTY4NwRfcgMyBGZyA3locy1tb3ppbGxhLTAwMgRncHJpZAN3OWVMeExoaFN4NlZmWUE3bUIzUndBBG5fcnNsdAMwBG5fc3VnZwMxBG9yaWdpbgNzZWFyY2gueWFob28uY29tBHBvcwMwBHBxc3RyAwRwcXN0cmwDBHFzdHJsAzM3BHF1ZXJ5A0hvdyB0byB0ZWFjaCBFbmdsaXNoIG92ZXJzZWFzIHlvdXR1YmUEdF9zdG1wAzE0NTg2MDEwMTE-?p=How+to+teach+English+overseas+youtube&fr2=sb-top-search&hspart=mozilla&hsimp=yhs-002

The cost of living overseas in places besides Europe is often far lower than America, so any of your current savings would go a lot farther over there once your dollars are converted to the local currency. A lot of people go overseas to save more money and pay of their student loans and other debts.

If you intend to stay in the U.S., several products that you may want to consider purchasing are a small size electric generating windmill setup, in case of grid power outages. Electric windmills retail for under $1000:

Another good buy to hedge against an almost certain economic collapse are silver coins. Be aware that gold was repossessed historically in the Great Depression by the U.S. government but silver was not. Buying so called “junk silver” helps you avoid losing out to sudden greenback inflation after an economic crash.

Most folks will probably take a silver coin as a medium of exchange. Invest in capital (not paper money). Capital is something/someone that can be used to make something else. Examples are land, buildings, factories, machines, seeds, people, food etc.

If you were forced to flee to a rural area due to a sudden breakdown in law and order, make sure that you have the following ready and easily stowable in your car or backpack:

Bug Out (Social Collapse) Bag Essentials

If you realize the state that our country is in and see what’s happening in the world around us, Paris, Brussels, San Bernardino, and many others, you realize the importance one of these bags has. This isn’t just an item that radical preppers have any more. Many millennials in the working world and those with families are adopting the permanent state of readiness for whatever happens or could happen. We suggest you do the same.

Essential Items

  1. Shelter (Tent/Cabin/RV etc)
  2. Food (Canned Goods, Beans, Lentils, Dried Food, Nuts, Seeds)
  3. Clothing (Multiple Layers, Wool, Nylon, Synthetics NOT cotton)
  4. Weapons (Again DO NOT resist legitimate authority, but this might be helpful against looters, abusers, animals, and other thieves. A simple and low violent weapon is a can of mace/pepper spray)
  5. A Good Map of your area. Try http://www.usgs.gov/pubprod/maps.html
  6. Frame Backpack
  7. Copy of your Birth Certificate, Passport, ID, and Titles/Deeds for property you own
  8. Water filter (essential for survival-you can only live 3 days without clean water).
  9. A Windup Radio
  10. A fire starter (a flint and steel are excellent)
  11. Bag of Silver Coins
  12. A Windup LED Light
  13. Rope

Make sure that women in your family know what to do and how they will be protected. During times of mass rioting, women are very vulnerable to violent and abusive behavior by unscrupulous people in authority or rioters. Encourage them to always have a male escort, and get a concealed carry license.

Although we like to think in our enlightened era that people have changed, history shows that men are still violent and predatory animals mainly kept in line by collective social pressure, shame, and our criminal justice system. When that breaks down, men turn loose, hurting those weaker than themselves. Have a place where your family meets during an emergency clearly designated on your map.

Other good tips are cultivating positive social connections with the local police department/National Guard/other government officials. In the event of economic pandemonium and martial law, you want to have a good reputation with those who hold positions of power and influence in your community.

Being seen as a troublemaker will set you up for problems if those services are given more authority during Martial Law. Do not let your hatred for our government’s actions turn into hatred for the people who hold those positions of authority. Remember that they too are people like you who need to put food on the table for their family.

Think about how you can help the majority of our population who are ill prepared for the impending U.S. economic collapse. Have a emergency stash of treats set up to give to any unwanted visitors who may come knocking on your door.

During political turmoil in France several hundred years ago, British author G.A. Henty observed how a common tactic used by innkeepers bothered by soldiers was to have a large supply of free alcohol available. This kept the rough soldiers from hurting his family and gave them time to escape.

Norway’s Largest Bank Proposes a Raid on Cash U S NEXT?

Viking Raid
JANUARY 25, 2016Joseph T. Salerno
Norway’s largest bank, DNB, has joined the relentless campaign by governments and big banks the world over to abolish cash, the physical embodiment of a nation’s monetary unit and the last tangible, if tenuous, link to the 19th-century gold standard. Almost all of today’s national currency notes, notably excluding the euro, originated as claims to a definite weight of gold (or silver). Predictably, a DNB spokesman justified its proposal to completely eliminate the use of cash in favor of digital checking accounts by claiming that the abolition of cash would reduce crimes such as money laundering:

Today, there is approximately 50 billion kroner in circulation and [the country’s central bank] Norges Bank can only account for 40 percent of its use. That means that 60 percent of money usage is outside of any control. We believe that is due to under-the-table money and laundering. There are so many dangers and disadvantages associated with cash, we have concluded that it should be phased out.
Note the ominous implication of this absurd statement: any large or even moderate-sized financial transaction that people manage to keep private must involve criminal activity. Indeed, in 2013, a Norwegian man had his home ransacked by police after he purchased a PC, TVs and a washing machine for 80,000 kroner in cash from an inheritance he had received.

DNB suggests that the first step in implementing its program to abolish cash is to get rid of the 1,000 kroner note (worth about $114 at the current exchange rate). The aim of progressively withdrawing larger denomination notes from circulation is, of course, to make cash payments less convenient and to habituate the public to paying for even small transactions electronically. DNB and the second largest bank in Norway, Nordea, have already stopped handling cash in their branch offices.

What is the real reason for the all-out war against goal by government bureaucrats and their crony banksters? The answer, according to Zero Hedge, is chilling:

The answer appears to be that the banks and government authorities are anticipating bail-ins, steeply negative interest rates and hefty fees on cash, and they want to close any opening regular depositors might have to escape these forms of officially sanctioned theft. The escape mechanism from bail-ins and fees on cash deposits is physical cash, and hence the sudden flurry of calls to eliminate cash as a relic of a bygone age — that is, an age when commoners had some way to safeguard their money from bail-ins and bankers’ control.

He calls that advice? My god, this man has changed my life with his inspirational words!

I mean, its all predicated on having quite a bit of cash lying around, either way.

Option A) Flee the country….not as easy as he makes it sound, especially if you want to be anything other than homeless when you get there. While being a white American helps, you will be able to find some sort of work I imagine, your life just completely started over with no family, or friends.

Option B) Buy a generator for less than a thousand dollars, and then also buy a house to put it in. I guess he wants you to build a fort here?

Option C) Bug-out: Lets be honest guys, you only need to worry about this if you live in places like Detroit or New Jersey. Everywhere else would be home to bands of wandering idiots as well. I don’t the US will completely dissolve out here in the MidWest near as quickly as people make it sound.

New Orleans dissolved into anarchy. When similar catastrophes happen in the MidWest we band together and take care of our own. Its a completely different culture out here.

—————————————————————-

Building up a (small) supply of food to get your family through a shortage, as well as doing things like adding generators and buying silver are all well and good, but really doesn’t constitute advice targeted at Minnies.

This guy just wanted to preach his prepper mindset, and while thats wonderful its borderline useless for the vast majority of people he is “targeting” with his little speech, but I’m sure will be met with riotous applause inside of his little echo chamber.

Skills, skills, skills.

The more you tackle, the more you are capable of doing yourself. The more that you do for yourself, the more you are able to do for others. Community follows after that.

My advice to millennials is to seek a good spouse as if they were the Holy Grail. Have children and raise them to be honorable, capable and resilient. Teach them your skills and put them in the company of those who share your outlook.

That’s all you can really do to make the world a better place.

As always, hardscrabble farmer hits it out of the park. When the world goes to hell in a hand basket the people you surround yourself with, and the skills in your head will be the things that pull you through it.
