If we started droning Amish wedding parties, they’d probably want to blow us up too.

WTF – “terrorism has no religion”??? Every single attack listed was perpetrated by people claiming to be Muslim.

We’ve had enough Reverse Discriminations. How about after the Communist have torn down all the Southern monuments, flags, songs etc, we take over and destroy all their statues and flags, rename Martin Luther King stuff just Martin Luther whatever, turn Black colleges into integrated real colleges, administer Civil Service Exams and fire the ignorant, etc, and administer Sensitivity Training for Useful Idiots.

The underlying disdain for religion in our culture that has advanced over the decades has painted Christians and Muslims with largely the same brush. The masses have decreed that religion itself is a sinner and must be shunned. But certainly common sense dictates that we pay attention to the fruits of whatever religion we follow and based on this measure there can be no comparison between the overall good that Christianity has fostered in our culture and what Islam has produced. If people can’t see that they are truly being willfully blind.

No, Rose, they wouldn’t. They would pray for the murderers, forgive them, and possibly even bake them a pie.

You might want to check out the Nickle Mine story, either the book or movie.

Rose,

Islam has been killing everyone around them that aren’t Islamic since way, way before a drone were even conceived in human imagination.

And killing each other when there was no one else available to kill.

They don’t need a reason, they do it by virtue of their own nature and the commands of their religion.

The Amish have no history of attacking anyone, even whey they are trying to kill them.

So lets see the list of all other religions terror attacks combined.

I don’t get why everybody has to take a “side” on this. One person says that Islam is a violent, aggressive “religion” that has been that way for hundreds of years and is perpetrating terrorist attacks around the globe. Another one says that “we” (western countries, especially the US) are triggering these terrorist attacks because “we” are droning and bombing Islamic countries. Then they argue about which of these is true.

THEY ARE BOTH TRUE. They are both problems. You don’t need to argue. You don’t need to attack the other person because they only referred to one and not the other in some comment. If we require that each person magically know what our current hot button is and make sure to include it (or not include it) in every comment then we’re no better than the “safe space” liberal whiny babies.

We need to figure out a way to protect ourselves from terrorism on our turf. We also need to stop “our” governments from aggravating the issue at its source. Maybe then the Muslims will go back to bombing each other instead of us.

This is not an “OR” issue, it is an “AND” issue.

Araven,

Even the Swiss are starting to have major Muslim problems, and they aren’t known for bombing anyone.

It’s Islam that is the cause. not the rest of the world.

Araven, I totally agree with you that it’s a matter of both sides, but at the heart of the matter, one has to question the foundation of Islam and what kind of spirit lies behind it.
That said, I’ve always agreed with Ron Paul’s position that the US needs to stop being the policeman of the world. It seems ultimately those in power can’t resist using their geopolitical clout to interfere with countries for reasons that are ultimately traced back to material gain.
Ultimately, even though people view the US as a Christian nation, it is certainly the most warped materialistic version of it that has decided to take on Islam and vice versa. Any Christian that I know and respect prays for peace and not conquest.

Araven: if this were limited to attacks by mideasterns on obvious western targets, I might see your point. But the horrors include innumerable attacks by Muslim thugs outside of the mideast, outside of countries that the US has bombed or invaded, and against huge numbers of non-westerners who simply are not Muslim. Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Liberia, the bombing of Pakistani Christians in Pakistan, the Bali nightclub bombings, etc., none of these are plausible as retaliation against western powers for things done to the perpetrators or the country in which the attack happened.

I can see how the actions in places like Iraq and Yemen can create or perpetuate a cycle of revenge, but the inherent problem is that too many modern day Muslims are simply bloody-minded horrible people out to kill anything that they feel is incompatible with their tiny and horrible 7th century world view.

From James Wesley Rawles: To be more precise in formulating his twisted logic, Pope Francis should have condemned the manufacturers of acetone, hydrogen peroxide, and roofing nails–the precursor chemicals and projectiles used to make the Triacetone Triperoxide (TATP) bombs used by the Islamist fanatics. The problem was not the tool or even the maker of the component parts. Rather, the real problem was with a zealous belief in a Religion of Hate, which the Pope refuses to acknowledge as such. Ironically, living safe in Vatican City behind thick castle-like walls and guarded by mercenaries armed with pistols and submachine guns, the Pope finds it easier to blame dual-use inanimate objects (and their manufacturers) for these terror bombings than to blame the real sinners with hatred in their hearts.

When the U.S. gov backed the Mujaheddin and OBL against the Russians is when we crossed the line into this insanity. When we stop bombing people, they’ll stop bombing us, period.

We need to slam the door shut on the MIC, but it will not happen without a purge. And that won’t happen until we get money out of politics.

Here’s a quiz: Which Presidential candidate wants to get money out of politics and overturn Citizen’s United?

Persnickety: “AND”. This is a problem and that is a problem. Not this problem caused all of that problem or fixing this problem will fix all of that problem or this problem is the same importance as that problem or whatever you’re reading into it that I did not put there.

Ever since the dawn of Islam, they have been attacking everybody else; the koran tells them so. You need to read it.

@Stucky: You are right. As a people they would forgive first. Some of them would stop forgiving though. The longer it went on the fewer of the forgivers there would be, and the more stoppers. Or maybe I’m wrong and they’d all just be dead. Few people seem to mean it like they do.
