The global trade in counterfeit goods accounts for 2.5 percent of the world’s imports and is worth almost half a trillion euro, according to a report from the OECD and EUIPO. US, Italian and French brands suffer the most from the lucrative global trade in knockoffs. The report analyzed customs seizures around the world between 2011 and 2013, finding that China accounted for the most fake goods of any nation by some distance.

Seems to me that only manufacturers who have their goods made in China are victimized by the counterfeit of those goods. Nike started having their sneakers made in China.

The Chinese soon after started counterfeiting Nike shoes. The counterfeits sucked, too, poor quality materials and workmanship, but packed in genuine appearing Nike shoeboxes.

Turns out, there was a price after all for moving offshore.

It makes sense that the counterfeit stuff would be mostly Chinese.

They make most of the real stuff and have the know how and trained workers readily at hand to make the counterfeits right along with it.

Not fake, but imitation.

Seriously, China is damn near lawless. Any small company doing business with them is out of their minds. And big ones need to be really careful.
