The boycott against the state of North Carolina over its refusal to allow transgenders to use bathrooms of the opposite sex has grown beyond a few celebrities and companies, and now includes whole cities.
On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Times reported that a board of L.A. city supervisors voted to “suspend all travel to the state of North Carolina for the conduct of county business unless the chief executive officer determines that the failure to authorize such travel would seriously harm the county’s interests.”
The bill came at the request of supervisors Supervisors Hilda Solis and Sheila Kuehl, the first openly gay person to serve on the board.
“Governments come along behind and say ‘We’ll do our part. We have power; we must use it,’ and that is what we are attempting to do today,” said Kuehl.
Solis welcomed the ban, saying that her identity as a Latina made her feel a certain affinity towards other minority groups.
“The value is that we all stand together, because if one falls, we all fall,” said Solis.
The one “no” vote came from Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich, who lambasted the measure as a “politically correct agenda.”
“The politically correct agenda is full of hypocrisy,” said Antonovich. “The corporations, (PayPal, Google) and entertainers (Bruce Springsteen), and others are calling for the boycott of North Carolina — however, they are more than happy to entertain or conduct business in countries which support and sponsor the persecution, oppression, and violence against individuals based on gender, religion, and sexual orientation.”
Earlier in the month, the city of Los Angeles already voted to stop doing official business with North Carolina.
These type of stories never include exactly how many trips LA county routinely makes to NC. Are theycanceling something that never happens anyway or did they typically send folls here daily?

And North Carolina’s bathroom laws have what to do with L.A. county business? Maybe if they would pay more attention to their own business they wouldn’t be such a bankrupt county. Holy mackerel, the big one that makes them slide into the ocean can not come quickly enough.
Somehow, I sort of doubt that NC will actually miss them.
I wouldn’t mind banning Californians from traveling anywhere outside of California, they tend to destroy everything they touch everywhere they go.
California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Colorado, and Washington are states I never do business in. If I order something online, I skip companies located in these states; price is secondary. Many people I know are the same way. I have no problem with Californicators staying on the left coast.
I hope to see in my lifetime that CA is hit by the biggest earthquake Evah. Or, a monstrous Tsunami. Would feel for the few non-liberals but that would be acceptable collateral damage.
CA slides into the ocean and disappears. Just a thought that keeps me smiling each day.

NC here. Yeah, who gives a shit what the tossers in LA do? The media is doing its part though, it’s been what 3 weeks now, and every single fucking night there’s an HB2 story on the idiot box nightly news. Sure hope the NC politicians don’t cave to this bullshit.

I guess Target has a real problem with any stores located in NC. Maybe they’ll just ban bathrooms altogether. IMO this is such a stupid argument, and the answer is, when deciding which restroom is yours, look down, determine what plumbing God gave you, and act appropriately…..period.
