That’s why Captain America is my favourite Avenger 🙂 Too bad he’s a fictional character and no real person like him ever enters into politics.
@Cricket – I never liked Cap much because I perceived him to be kind of like Superman – a guy who fought for the status quo because he was told to.
This past 10 years have been very different though, as Cap has been frequently used to highlight the horror of our growing police state, a job well done by Marvel, who love to tackle social issues through their characters.
Its too bad indeed, we don’t number a single patriot at the Federal level, just a bunch of sycophants, and morons.

I wasnt a big Cap fan until i read the Civil War story arc (that they are trying).
Learning about and listening to someone like Ron Paul, seeing the nonsense from the invasions of Iraq, watching Aaron Russo’s Freedom to Fascism and seeing Captain America stand up to the fascist controls being put in place by the US(S)A all contributed some bit (some much more than others) to opening my eyes.
Well, I happen to think that the Incredible Hulk could beat the piss out of Captain Merka.
There.
Ed, isn’t it Cap’n Murika?
EC, I didn’t say Cap’n because I don’t want nobody to think I’m uneddercated.
