With some 100 million Americans now receiving government assistance in one form or another, it’s only a matter of time before glitches or all out system failure leads to civil unrest.
While we understand that Electronic Benefits Transfer cards, unemployment and other social support mechanisms are necessary for those who may have temporarily come upon hard times in an economic environment wrought with fraud and machinations that have left hard working Americans in dire straits, the fact is that millions upon millions of people feel entitled to the benefits they receive from the taxpayer and have made sitting on the couch, smoking weed, and getting paid a career.
And when those benefits disappear for whatever reason we can expect the following, but on a mass scale:

A large woman destroyed a convenience store after having her food stamp benefits card declined, according to a video uploaded to Live Leak Thursday.
“Call the police, call the police,” the unnamed woman says repeatedly in the video as she lumbers around the store causing havoc. “Call the police. Do your job, do your job.”
The woman had already knocked some food on the floor before one patron decided to start filming the incident. She appears belligerent as she repeats inaudible and barely audible statements. The woman walks with a limp from an apparent injury as she threw food around. She even throws an empty container of Cheetos at a man who tried to calm her down.
This isn’t the first such incident and it certainly won’t be the last as an evermore impoverished populace becomes increasingly dependent on government handouts.
In 2013 we reported that the EBT card acceptance system in 16 states crashed, leaving thousands with no way to put food on their dinner tables. As further evidence of what may happen following a widespread outage wherein those on government assistance have no way of buying food and other necessities, consider what this woman had to say:
I go to the register and they ask me “how you going to pay.”
I said with food stamps.
“Oh, we’re shut down, you can’t pay with food stamps.”
I got kids to feed. You know?
And because the government’s down I can’t feed my family?

What’s going on with America? Now they trying to starve us to death?

I’m just trying to figure out how to get something to eat.
The most recent statistics indicate that some 70 million Americans would be starving in the streets were it not for government programs like EBT and welfare.
If a foreign power really wanted to bring America to its knees then perhaps the only thing they’d need to do is launch cyber attacks against the social safety net systems that have thus far managed to keep a broke and hungry populace subdued.
In such a scenario the United States of America would descend into chaos within 72 hours, which is precisely why we regularly urge our readers to prepare for a worst case scenario that sees widespread riots, looting and civil unrest from coast to coast.

In one of the final interviews given by Bin Laden before he died back in 2001, he made the point that he was unable to destroy America but that George Bush was best positioned to destroy America and all he, Bin Laden, had to do was to anger George Bush and wait for America to use all of its resources in its hunt for imaginary phantoms. Bin Laden was proven correct.
If you took out a handful of substations, you could render an entire region back to 1860. Those that depend on government handouts would be unable to use their “electronic” benefits which would, of course, bring on the riots.

Whilst the phrase “every Nation is nine square meals from Revolution” is (incorrectly) attributed to Alfred Lewis (Cosmopolitan Magazine March 1906), the idea goes back far further – and probably predates Roman times (in those days it was three meals from civil unrest).
It is not “just” the EBT System – it is also all the other elements of the “Just In Time” delivery mindset – great for minimising stock on hand, but not so great when the slightest disruption means immediate, and big, trouble.
For example, New York’s five Boroughs comprise about 2/3rds of that of the Freight Analysis Framework’s Region 68 total population. New York is not a “producer” of foodstuffs, so of the 68.9 million tonnes “consumed” within Region 68 (2002 data mind you) it’s fair to say New York “imported” about 46 million tonnes annually, i.e. about 886 thousand tonnes per week (or 126 thousand tonnes daily).

And that’s folks, is just ONE City (albeit a major one). Add in the other facts (40% of food is never eaten, food transport consumes 10% of all energy consumption, food production consumes 80% of all potable water . . . .) and the system becomes very “fragile” where disruption is concerned.

This is a much more likely possibility than most of the collapse situations that salivating Slavo usually writes about. I like to refer to this possibility as the “Zombie Apocalypse” scenario. It is the most likely and most possible of the hard crash scenarios imho. Too many people unable to feed themselves would cause order to collapse rapidly. It’s scares the shit out of me truth be told. 70 million dependant on the Gov’t just to eat? That’s twice the population of this country. Now there’s some perspective.

The entitlement mentality at its worse. Other people’s money is rapidly running out and will be replaced with violence. Thank God for everyday you have the sustenance to keep you alive. In response to the OP; when TSHTF, those that have no skills and are totally dependent on support supplied by GOV or NGOs, they will be the ones to suffer the most.
Those that are highly productive and have a widely diverse set of skills will suffer the least.

A great read. Never knew of situation in Mexico. I do remember reading some years back about decline of Cantrell oil field. 325,000 bpd is astonishingly low. Mexico and its people are facing some tough choices.
Those like this woman will suffer the most when this shit collapses. The useless eaters always suffer the most. Eventually, when the government is consuming all american resources just to sustain itself, people like this woman will be the hardest hit. She is so fat, and has some kind of cast on, I don’t see her out burning cop cars and looting. By the time she waddles her fat ass down to the store it will already be cleaned out.
As far as the men in the store being pussies, its probably smart not to interfere. While taking down fat, barely mobile people is easy(kick a knee, doesn’t even have to be that hard, and its game over) doing so is likely to get you charged with assault and a hate crime(Im white). Why the employees of the store didn’t remove her is beyond me. Those shops in the ghetto are often family owned by foreigners, who probably don’t want the 6+ rabid animals she has no doubt birthed coming back and burning it to the ground.
Venezuela – a nation rich in oil – has now seen shortages of toilet paper and basic food staples thanks to the horribly misguided leftist policies of late President Chavez’s and of his successor Maduro.
America isn’t Venezuela, but one thing to keep in mind is this: Venezuela declared what we would call prepping illegal (they called it “hoarding”).
Keep prepping, people. A few extra cans of beans or tuna fish or chicken. Bottled water. First aid supplies (before the more advanced stuff). It’s incredible how as recently as 2012 (Hurricane Sandy) people in New York City were eating out of dumpsters and relying on city hall to issue MREs.
I say all this not because you are a crowd that would need a reminder, but because you TBP regulars are the type of people who would not leech off of others and believe in hard work and self-reliance. I make no moral judgments on the two women in the videos above (although I think the first one was perhaps mentally ill).
You don’t witness that type of antisocial behavior in the Muslim country i live in.

Pretending it’s human was the first mistake. The second was giving it equal say in how our money gets spent by allowing it to vote. The third was the social policies that gave this knuckledragger the sense of entitlement it demonstrated in the video.

In my navy days, we referred to people who didn’t pull their own weight as oxygen loads since they just breathed the air that we made and provided nothing of value in return. Our country is unfortunately suffering under a majority of oxygen loads.
