KUNSTLER’S SITE UNDER ATTACK

Jim Kunstler is experiencing the same type of attack TBP experienced two years ago. Speaking truth to power has its consequences. Anyone who confronts the establishment will be attacked. We can’t let them silence us. Jim was able to get his article over to the Patreon website. We can’t let the scumbags win. Freedom of Speech is our last hope.

June 6 CFN BLOG: Nausea Rising | James Howard Kunstler on Patreon

As you may know, http://Kunstler.com is currently under an aggressive Denial of Service (DoS) attack. My web and server technicians are working to get the website and blog back up and live soon (though it’s going to cost a pretty penny). In the meantime, here is today’s blog. Please share this with any of your CFN friends so they don’t miss out.  Thank you for your continued support. — JHK

Nausea Rising

Considering that the 2016 election looks like a Dark Age puppet show — Pantalone and La Signora smacking each other with dildos — we forget this spectacle is serious. Rather large matters are at stake, such as the continuity of governance, the legitimacy of the two major political parties, the credibility of our financial arrangements, perhaps even the durability of the nation as a united polity.

Most of the deliberate comedy comes from Donald Trump, whose super-long dangling necktie looks like it was designed for laughs by the Commedia dell’Arte prop department, not to mention the hair, which I have maintained for many years is actually a wolverine living on top of Trump’s head. Trump certainly represents a large and valid strain of sentiment in the zeitgeist — the frustration of many ordinary citizens at government-sponsored racketeering that is shoving them into pauperdom. But his utterances against all that are so childish and disordered that he de-legitimates his own mission every time he opens his mouth.

Hillary delivers her laughs mostly deadpan, for instance her Sunday morning ABC interview with the old 1992 Clinton “War Room” hand George Stephanopoulos, who grilled the Flying Reptile rather mercilessly over the recent report from the State Department Inspector General that said she was “not allowed” to use the private email server no, ifs, ands, or buts. As she struggled to deflect the question, the “uh”s started to stipple her vapid evasions like holes punched in a life raft. It was fun watching her sink, uh, uh, uh, gurgle gurgle — though surely that was not the effect she was going for.

Bernie, of course, is not so funny. He’s as serious as a heart attack, which suggests that a pretty sizeable portion of the public is sick of being diverted with slapstick comedy. The old bastard is determined to give the Democratic Party poobahs some schooling in ethical procedure. I admire the heck out of that — also, his record as a demonstrably non-griftable public servant, and his stance against the racketeering-as-usual status quo — though I’m not persuaded he would be an effective president (if such a thing is even theoretically conceivable) given his nanny government disposition. But the bigshots of the DNC still have a lot of ‘splainin’ to do, and it looks like ole Bernie is going to beat it out of them at Philadelphia in July. What I wonder: is he strong enough to hold Debbie Wasserman-Schultz on his lap while he applies the rod.

The people of the United States have real grievances with the way this country is being run. Last Friday’s job’s report was a humdinger: only 38,000 new jobs created in a country of over 300 million, with a whole new crop of job-seeking college grads just churned out of the diploma mills. I guess the national shortage of waiters and bartenders has finally come to an end.

What’s required, of course, is a pretty stout restructuring of the US economy. And that should be understood to be a matter of national survival. We need to step way back on every kind of giantism currently afflicting us: giant agri-biz, giant commerce (Wal Mart etc.), giant banking, giant war-making, and giant government — this last item being so larded with incompetence on top of institutional entropy that it is literally a menace to American society.

The trend on future resources and capital availability is manifestly downward, and the obvious conclusion is the need to make this economy smaller and finer. The finer part of the deal means many more distributed tasks among the population, especially in farming and commerce operations that must be done at a local level. This means more Americans working on smaller farms and more Americans working in reconstructed Main Street business, both wholesale and retail. This would also necessarily lead to a shift out of the suburban clusterfuck and the rebuilding of ten thousand forsaken American towns and smaller cities.

For the moment, many demoralized Americans may feel more comfortable playing video games, eating on SNAP cards, and watching Trump fulminate on TV, but the horizon on that is limited too. Sooner or later they will have to become un-demoralized and do something else with their lives.

The main reason I am so against the Hillary and Trump, and so ambivalent on Bernie is their inability to comprehend the scope of action actually required to avoid sheer cultural collapse.

Spend 15 minutes and Google Hillary and Bernie’s platforms.

In a nutshell, they are all about giving stuff away, and identity politics. They have collected everyone that has an imagined grievance, and assure them the government will fix it – either by a tax or a law.

I’m shocked that so many US Citizens want the government in their lives.

Hey Kunstler you idiot Bernie is part of the same group of puppets. The difference is he hides his wealth under his wife’s name. Let’s hope in the next few years she leaves his old commie ass, takes him to the cleaners and lets him learn what it “REALLY” means to live hand to mouth .

Greetings,

That Switzerland rejected the idea of a basic income for every citizen gives me a bit of hope that we, too, will reject such terrible ideas. At the end of the day, all but the most brain dead must realize that someone somewhere must pay for it all.

Working in a grocery store – Trader Joe’s to be exact, permanently cured my daughter of any Left leaning ideology. Watching people better dressed than herself wander down from their new Section 8 apartment to buy food she can not afford with their EBT cards did the trick. She told me time and time again that the people that do not work actually look down at her, have refer to her as a “work monkey” and strut around Trader Joe’s like they own the place.

She told me that she wants nothing more than to set alight all the EBT Hipsters in Hollywood.

“Work Monkey” Hard to believe people will actually say that. Something similar did happen to me once. I was a milkman at time. Finishing my day I noticed boss throwing a pallet of ice cream and treats in Garbage. The main freezer had hit a breaker the night before and it shut off for while. Nothing wrong with ice cream but the gobbermint, as Stucky says, forces dairy to throw this stuff out anyways.

I summoned my inner Donald. Recognizing an opportunity I sprung into action rescued a whole bunch of it. Called my friend who doesn’t work and who knew how to get rid of stuff fast. Within an hour I had sold the whole lot to a bunch on welfare. I was a little guilty until I found out that the guy who bought the most was bragging about how he makes more money than the working stiffs at Railcar plant in Trenton. Kind of took the sting out of my guilt even though I was only stealing back the money I and many others had given him. That day at least I came out ahead with the FSA. But that was 20 years ago.

The good ole days!

It’s true that the FSA gets more per month than most of us earn. My pot head FSA brother-in-law total F’Up proved he got more in Welfare than I earned.

Nickel thrower,
I once heard that TJ’s employees aren’t unionized, but make a “living wage” for the area in which they work. Can you (your daughter) provide any details?

@Brazil66

Trader Joe’s was bought out by a German company which immediately threw them into the health care exchange when they took over and cut back on their hours. She makes a bit over $14 per hour but a person would need a minimum wage of about $25 per hour to be able to afford to live where my daughter lives. My daughter works two jobs but at that wage she can not afford anything but a micro apartment which, in her case, is nothing more than a room just big enough for a bed. She has no kitchen or closets. Also, at that wage it is impossible for her to own a car, take a vacation or enjoy a night out.

I’m having trouble working up much of a feeling for Kunstler’s troubles. About his pick, Bernie, if Bernie is as fucked up as he looks, he’s too bad off to be president of anything but a bridge club in an old folks’ home.

Hate to interrupt the riveting conversation about Trader Joe’s just to talk about the candidates. Some asshole suggested I shut the fuck up about Trump. Fuck that. This is America, Jack.

Look, I am not siding with any candidate. Like Kuntstler, I think they all suck.

If I had a nickle for every cocksucker who said, Trump isn’t presidential material but he’s the best of the lot. I’m glad these fuckers weren’t around to vote for Benedict Arnold because he was a safe candidate, Washington and the others being dangerous revolutionaries.

Hillary threatens to run unopposed if Bernie loses. If you vote for Trump, Hillary will win, because the lesser of to evils is an empty suit. He’s got no game beyond rabble rousing. He’s a huckster and a fraud. There’s the story of his starting multiple businesses, Take a look at them, they are the kind of shit the Kardashians dabble in.

If you really want to send a message, vote for Bernie, it won’t make a difference because votes, like black lives, don’t really matter. But the important thing to finally admit, this is not the time to play their game once more, this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody’s part.

I am surprised to be saying this Full Re but you could be right. Pretty obvious that every dirty trick is going to be employed to get Clinton elected. It sure would be nice though to see her lose California primary. Especially now that Associated Press has tonight on its eve declared her the presumptive nominee.

Every four years it’s the same old story.

Folks start out swearing, ‘this time it’ll be different, we won’t get fooled again’.

Months later, the mood is ‘fuck it, I’ll vote for the lesser of two evils’.

Rob, this place used to stand for something, nowadays all I read is the same script I describe above. Do you think admin was dithering about McCain and Obama last time?

Nowadays, you can’t fucking criticize one particular candidate because he is the great white hope. That’s the sizzle.

I really think this time the mood has shifted. As for Bernie he could have won if he had gone after Clinton like Trump is now. But I dunno if it makes any difference who is at helm when ship goes down. It didnt matter on Titanic and it wont matter here. I really cant see how this facade of BLS lies last much longer than 12 months before gig is up. It does seem strange that day before California Primary a big supporter of Bernie is ddos by a very “sounds like” group of people. Somebody somewhere is scared of mood premeating. The lesser of two evils. So true. I havent yet been thru an election not hearing that. A sad commentary on modern democracy.

Rob, Bernie got the same respect as Ron Paul did here. The folks in the mall just walked on by the Bernie table. You would think the EBT crowd would be front and center but they prefer Hillary. I guess they got scared when Bernie threatened to offer them free college. That’s too much regimentation.

Reminds me of Mckay’s line to the faux wimmen’s libber (I have no idea why women feel the need to support other people’s wives when they don’t even know them):

McKay – I make my own lunch.
Libber – Oh, how sweet.
McKay – It’s the least I can do, getting up before 9 am, for her, is tough enough.

Full I think this place does stand for something. It still is a viable alternative to MSM. But it does seem like everyone is just waiting for referee to blow whistle to start crisis in this fourth turning. I make that statement as a general observation of world around me. Well at least the more conservative minded. The same thing happened in Germany in the lead up to take over by Nazis. The radicals however have already hit the streets to burn the house down. Pun intended. For the purposes of my argument I consider Hitler to have been a Bolshevik in Western clothing. I really do think people feel in their guts that something radical is going to happen. One can see tension being loaded with each passing day. Everyone waiting for puck to drop.

But accuse Admin of dithering. Never. But to be quite honest I, and I will use words of Clintons lawyer, will say that I do not recall. And looking back now at that choice between McCain and Obama I have to say that choice this time is better. But that ain’t saying much. Wouldnt you agree.

Trader Joe’s is relevant to this discussion. People view it as a “hip” place to go shop for trendy food. Trader Joe’s in the middle of Hollywood, USA is the Bernie Sanders center of the Universe. Whether it is the workers from Buzz Feed (their office is right there) that come in to grab a quick lunch or the ocean of aimless hipsters that wander in to shop for GMO & Gluten Free overpriced food paste, my young daughter has her finger right on the Lefty pulse of America.

Our fine Admin here gets to report on the 30 Blocks of Squalor (always a favorite) and his insight on that Lefty run hell-hole strikes a chord with me because he is right there to see it. Well, living in SoCal gives me a bit of insight as well. When people post those crazy videos of SJW’s adding up their victim points, it is probably a video they filmed right outside of my doorstep. Here, no amount of silliness is ever enough – ever.

Rob, I meant he wasn’t vacillating between the establishment choices Mac and Barak because he was rootin’ for Ron.

Nic, that was an interesting discussion going on. I hated to interrupt it. We have seen the EBT chic in action. Full buggies or shopping carts loaded with top shelf groceries. My wife complains because she only gets so much a month from me for groceries, she has to shop at several places to get the specials.

Thanks to bb, I went back to Sam’s and she likes it. Costco has a strange effect on people, they become nasty rude fuckers shopping there.

She knows the prices at Sam’s, Costco, Kohl’s, Macy’s, everywhere. She told me yesterday, those shoes were cheaper in Vegas and I didn’t get them. Or she’ll say, I got this clothing item for 90% off.

Interesting the hipster wanna be establishments in my town aren’t as big as TJ’s. Not even close. It’s funny you go into these granola places and everything seems to be overpriced. Almost like it is on purpose. People there want to whinge on about plight of poor yet they don’t want to stand in line with them. Well at least people who look poor.

One of the things about Canada that’s great is Tim Horton’s. They do sell a pretentious cup of coffee but most people going there are just looking for a hit of caffeine and don’t care about fashion. More donuts and less I-Macs. Anyways should be an interesting day in Kalifornia.

I remember now Full Re what was going last election in regards the treatment of Ron Paul. I was amazed at how he was treated. He didn’t have a shot though. Sanders did this time. I really think he started out assuming he didn’t have a chance. Hoping only to effect policy and platform at convention. For months he didn’t attack her on emails. Even defended her in debates. His greatest weakness I think is he hasn’t spent enough time in the real world. If he had he would have quickly realized that the tide had swung his way. The mood had changed and the Rabble and Hipsters at Trader Joe’s were ready to burn everything to the ground. He does now but he is a relief pitcher being sent into finish game that is out of reach.

It’s too bad because as much as I don’t like Sanders at least he isn’t a bought and paid for Wall Street Whore like Clinton is.

HSF You are right. Not sure if you are singling me out but it doesn’t really matter because it’s true. I’m getting burnt out with all the Doom porn. All I want to do lately is just get my mortgage paid off so that I can bug out. Yeah a couple of months back I was all excited about prospect of a farm but reality smacked me in face. Sitting down looking at the numbers knowing that I would need to go into more debt to do it made me see that I would trading one problem for another. Maybe in a couple of years I can buy a small plot with cash and be truly free. In the meantime all I want is a good seat for the catastrophe. Hopefully I can be lucky with my timing but from past experience I will likely be a day late and a dollar short.

“Someone has to pay for it all.”

Who is behind the money system anyway? Money isn’t even real. Most are so deep into this transactional system of thinking that they can’t realize they are being duped. ” Let people starve if they can’t make their own way”, is not the kind of world I want to live in. They system is breaking people down and there are no easy solutions, but to resort to “the strongest survive” idea is hideous. I guess those with the nuclear weapons will run the show. And guess who runs the money systems? Sad
