73 Dead, Over 100 Injured After Truck Plows Into Crowd In Nice, France Terrorism Act – Live Feed
In latest European terrorist attack on French soil, a truck plowed into the crowd on Promenade des Anglais in Nice, France this evening during a fireworks show celebrating France’s Bastille Day holiday.
The truck was seen mounting the pavement and piling into anyone the driver could see, ramming over those who tried to run away.
According to latest reports, 73 people have been killed and over 100 unjured.
The ‘truck was travelling at 60-70km per hour’ a local Nice Matin journalist on the scene reported: A witness who gave his name as Antoine cited by Telegraph said: “We were at the Neptune beach and a firework display had just finished. That is when we saw a white lorry. It was going quickly at 60-70 kilometres an hour.”
The truck, whose driver was shot by the police, is shown below with its windshield riddled with bullets. It is said to have been carryng guns and grenades in what appears to have been part of a bigger plot.
The truck’s driver allegedly got out and started shooting at those nearby.
The French government has called the attack an act of terrorism. It has activated the “ORSEC plan” to tackle a major emergency situation.
Meanwhile, according to SITE, jihadists are copying the news and celebrating the massacre.
“It’s total panic,” a witness told the channel by telephone. “We saw a white lorry which drove directly into people on the Promenade des Anglais. A gunman fired into the crowd before being shot by police. Perhaps they are dead, I’m not sure.”
“Police are flooding the streets, including anti-terrorism officers. Nobody knows what to do, except to hide away. Gunmen are meant to be targeting hotels.”
One eyewitness told France’s BFM TV: “Everyone was calling run, run, run there’s an attack run, run, run. We heard some shots. We thought they were fireworks because it’s the 14th of July.
“There was great panic. We were running too because we didn’t want to stick around and we went into a hotel to get to safety. ”

Local authorities state it is an attack and several gunshots have been heard, French TV reports.
Police and ambulances went to the scene and authorities from the local Alpes-Maritimes prefecture urged residents to stay indoors.
An AFP reporter described seeing a white van driving at high speed onto the famed Promenade des Anglais as people were leaving after the annual Bastille Day celebration display.
“We saw people hit and bits of debris flying around,” he said.

According to the Telegraph, A truck has crashed into a crowd of revelers celebrating Bastille Day in the French city of Nice – prompting fears of terrorism. Horrific images depicting men and women lying on the side of a road close to the Promenade des Anglais appeared on social media.
Videos and photographs also showed thousands fleeing in panic following reports of loud explosions.
Fireworks were filling the night sky as the drama unfolded, as the crowds enjoyed July 14th, which is always a Bank Holiday in France. The country is still under a State of Emergency following last year’s attacks on Paris, when almost 150 people were murdered by Islamic State and Al-Qaeda operatives.
Both groups are well known for driving vehicles into innocent people, prompting fears that tonight’s incident could be linked to their activities.
Bastille Day, which celebrates the storming of the Bastille prison in Paris during the French Revolution of 1789, is the country’s biggest public holiday.
“There are people in blood, probably full of wounded,” a reporter for the Nice Matin newspaper said.

I agree with you. Our occupation and militarization of the MENA isn’t working. We should either 100% commit to withdrawing all of our combat forces back to our own borders or 100% commit to waging a genocidal war of aggression. This is the way it was done all throughout recorded history.

Streets are usually blocked off by patrol cars when events of this nature take place. Maybe the French aren’t bright enough to block roads for safety. Too bad as this didn’t end very well.
This is all getting tedious and I would say that going forward, anyone who gets into the middle of a crowd will do so at their own risk.

But those that are determined to kill others will just find other tools and in this case he used a truck. So where did you get the idea I was saying a handgun would stop a truck? I was implying that if they don’t use guns they will find any number of other methods, trucks, bombs, poison gas, and on and on.

French Terror Suspect Named As Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, A “Well-Known” Tunisian Criminal

Now that the initial shock of the Nice Bastille Day terror attack which claimed at least 84 lives has passed, and the investigation into the causes and motives behind the latest tragic mass killing has begun. Earlier this morning it was revealed that the driver of the truck used to attack Bastille Day celebrations in Nice has been named in local reports as 31-year-old delivery driver Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, a Tunisian criminal, who is reported to be a French passport holder, and well-known to the police.
According to newspaper Nice-Matin, quoted by the Telegraph, the identity of the driver of the truck that drove into the crowds Tuesday night has been confirmed. It is the owner of the identity card that was found in the truck by police. He is from Nice and is of Tunisian origin, aged 31, called Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel. Police raided his apartment in the Nice Nord district this morning. He works as a delivery driver and is known for criminal acts, including violence, but any radicalisation has gone unnoticed. His act seems yet to have been premeditated.
“He was known to the police for violence, and using weapons, but had no direct links with terrorism,” said an investigating source. “His identity car was found in the lorry. He had French and Tunisian nationality.”
As the Telegraph adds, he was described as a “loner with a motorbike” by neighbours as police searched his one bedroom apartment in a rundown district of Nice, reports Tom Morgan. One resident in the small apartment block where Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel is thought to have plotted his attack said: “He was quiet and moody. I did not know whether he was a Muslim. I think he had a motorbike.”
Police sealed off a flat of La Route de Turin and ordered The Telegraph to step away from the scene. Bouhlel, 31, is believed to have been living in a rented property overlooking a small carpark.
Police investigating the attacker’s background raided a first floor flat in a shabby apartment block in the Abattoirs area of Nice. A woman living in the same block said: ‘I hardly knew him, but from what I could see he seemed very weird. He lived alone. He said very little to anyone and wasn’t very polite. He wouldn’t hold the door open for you.’
The name of the flat occupant appears on the ground floor letterbox grid as Lahouaiej Bouhlel, though this name has not yet been officially confirmed as that of the 31 year old French-Tunisian attacker. A schoolboy who also lives in the block of flats said he was alerted to the start of the raid at about 9.30am local time when armed police set up positions in front of the building and behind.
A neighbour who gave her name only as Jasmine, 40, said: “He was rude and bit weird. We would hold the door open for him and he would just blank him. “He kept himself to himself, but would always rant about his wife. He had martial problems and would tell people in the local cafe.
“He scared my children though. They will be scarred by this. They were down there last night – they are 13 and 7 – they could have been involved.”
She added: “He was very smart with the same haircut as George Clooney.”
