Generation Meathead

Guest Post by The Zman

The interwebs tells me that Rob Reiner is making war on the hate thinkers, particularly Trump voters.

Filmmaker, actor and outspoken Donald Trump detractor Rob Reiner says it is impossible to level with the Republican presidential nominee’s bigoted supporters, who are “mostly white males who don’t have college degrees.”
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor said that there’s “a very serious strain of racism” that runs through those supporting the Republican presidential nominee.

“And that’s a kind of disturbing thing, and I don’t think you ever reach those people. I think that they’re impossible to turn around. It’s very disturbing because a lot of these racist ideas have kind of been dormant for a while, and he’s given voice to them — he’s kind of unearthed it. And the thing that’s most disturbing is to discover that there’s so many people that still hold those views,” Reiner said.

For those too young to remember, or too old to remember, Rob Reiner is famous for having played the character “Meathead” on the popular 70’s TV show All In The Family. The show was supposed to mock traditional Americans, particularly blue collar Americans, but the public received it mostly as a celebration of normal people at a time when normals were under assault from liberals, hippies and various other degenerates. Rob Reiner’s character came to represent what had gone wrong with the country.

Meathead was a loudmouth know-it-all boomer, who enjoyed lecturing his father-in-law about the terribleness of America and the men that had made the country. The irony was that Meathead lived off the people he ridiculed. Archie, the patriarch, worked and paid the bills while his daughter and son-in-law lived in his house. It was a perfect metaphor for what was happening in the country. The parasites were determined to kill the host, but in the mean time they were perfectly willing to enjoy the fruits the host had accumulated.

Years ago, the great Paul Gottfried remarked that the country had long been taken over by the Meathead generation and their ethics. The Archie Bunkers were all gone. By that he meant traditional working and middle class America had been lost and the country was now run by fashionable liberals, who occupied the first ruling elite in history to be actively working to destroy the foundation on which it rests. Look around the culture and all the high ground is occupied by degenerate boomers, who carry on as if it is still 1968.

It has been said a million times in a million places, but the Meathead generation has been, on the whole, a national disaster for America. The nation started falling to pieces right around when the first wave of boomers hit adulthood. With a respite in the 80’s when the old and the young teamed up to support a return to sanity, it has been a fifty year slide into cultural turpitude, forced upon us by the Early Boomer cohort. Look around the political class and the worst of the worst were born in the 40’s and were apart of the first assault upon the culture fifty years ago.

The good news, if there is any, is that the Early Boomers are starting to croak. The front edge is now 70, which means they are retiring or dropping dead quickly. The demographers place the end of Baby Boom as 1964, but that’s never been very useful culturally. Someone born in 1964 has nothing in common with someone born in 1946. The real troublesome cohort was born in the ten year period following the war. These are the Early Boomers, the first wave that we generally associate with the madness of the late 60’s and early 70’s.

That means if you are a young alt-right trouble maker, you only have another decade or so to put up with degenerates like Rob Reiner. This realization may be at the heart of the hysteria we see in the ruling class. Rasping geezers like Hillary Clinton look around and see their time is just about done. They also see that what is forming up behind them is a giant cultural eraser, ready to rub out any trace of what her cohort leaves behind. Her “Basket of Deplorables” are young dudes and dudettes in hazmat suits, ready for cleanup.

Maybe that happens, maybe it is too far gone and alt-right is a just an echo from a past that is too far gone to matter. Regardless, generation Meathead will be remembered as the cohort that gnawed away at the social fabric of the nation, like rats, until it began to fall to pieces. Maybe this election is the start of the great cleaning up of the mess made by guys like Reiner and he cohort. Maybe it is something else, but their time is coming to an end. Generation Meathead will soon be gone. Good riddance to bad cess.

Thanks Admin,
This was a nice little pick me up in the morning. It warms my heart to know that those who despise us, the hard working law abiding types, must be thinking about their demise and are making a mad dash to finish line. Particularly with Hillary as stumbles constantly during her last chance at the One Ring to Rule Them All. I often imagine the rage she will go through if she loses this election. How many more bodies will pile up for their failure to get her into the Oval Orifice?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. I’ll be smiling all day.

Rob Reiner is a coddled, simple-minded, Hollywood brain-washed, Jewish-privileged nincompoop. Nobody would listen to his shallow thoughts if he did not inherit fame and suckle the tit of liberal, conformist idiocy. Leave him and his ramblings to Huffpo ilk.

At least Rob did one constructive thing — co-producing (with ex-wife Penny Marshall) their totally gorgeous daughter Tracey Reiner. She played “Betty Spaghetti” in “A League of Their Own.”

Admin,
I played Hillary’s “Basket of Deplorables” for my wife this morning and her comment was she just insulted half of the country. She let slip what she really thinks of middle America. Sadly the elites truly believe that this whole group is the same. The leftists just don’t get it. The main thing this group has in common is they they despise the liberal do gooders tearing at the fabric of America.

Watched a rerun of All In The Family on ME TV a couple weeks ago. I soooo enjoyed that show back in the 70’s …. especially The Meathead and his perpetually whiny-assed perpetually-complaining wife, Gloria.

You know what? I could not watch the show to the end. The Meathead & Bitch where whining endlessly about some animal rights bullshit and saving the earth. Ugghhh!

And I wondered to myself — what the fuck did I ever find amusing about this show?? (Other than Archie, who really was funny … in a sad and pathetic kind of way.)

Anyway, the article talks about the Meatheads of the world dying off. So what. That solves absolutely nothing. That’s because a new set of assholes will occupy Hollywood. That is the one thing Hollywood is most excellent at — producing cocksucking fuckers AT ODDS with “normal” America. Always have. Always will.

Hollywood eats shit.
Fuck Hollywood.

I agree Stucky [Hey, that’s my name on another site!]. AITF is my favorite show of all time. I won’t have broadcast/cable TV in my home, but I do have every episode of AITF on DVD, and I have to say, that there are a few eps I just can not watch because of the Bitch being so out-of-control, or Norman Lear’s fairy-tale liberal mentality being so explicit- like in the ep where 2 black burglars break into Archie’s home, and are portrayed as just being the most benevolent, rational, kind and entertaining folk on the face of the earth!

Or the ep where the See You En Tea is fired from her job because she is pregnant, and then goes on a rant about how such is an “abuse of her rights” (Yet, of course, if her fetus were born with a defect and there was even the remotest possibility that it may have been as a result of her working while pregnant, she’d be the first one to sue her employer for every cent he had, while disparaging him for being a “slave-driver” for making her work while pregnant”. Such is the hypocrisy and absurdity of these liberal nut-jobs, whose only real interest seems to be the destruction of our society and culture.

And notice how it is perfectly acceptable for the Bitch to hit her husband and tell him to :shut up”, but if it were the opposite way around, it would be “unacceptable” and a “portaryal of violence and and abuse against women”.

These lib-tards are sick puppies, and I wish the world were rid of them.

More generalist bullshit about “early boomers”. Sure, some were/are assholes, just like within any group that spans almost thirty years. However, many were military vets, fiercely independent Citizens that have always tried to “do the right thing”. They/we have been responsible members of American civilization. We have worked for 50yrs or more, raised wonderful children, have no debt in our later years, are not/have never been a burden on society, &TC. In 2016 we are part of the Alt Right and are Trump supporters. I am a member of the “early boomers” I have no need to apologize to anyone for anything!

I feel the same way.

Here’s the thing, I learned some while ago to NOT take these anti-Boomer comments/posts PERSONALLY. We were decent Boomers — I don’t care about the rest … I no longer feel that I need to defend that entire generation, even if it’s mine – the one I grew up in.

damn right ! I “did” the Marine
Corps “Thang” and it was very … “robust military service”.
After a number of years [more than two by the way], I returned ‘home’ and went to work. I also went to to college.

I also managed to try to raise two children [lots of alcohol-drug problems but am now 24 yrs 6 mos ‘clean & sober’], worked all of my post military life; ON THE BOOKS. I always vote because even if there is nothing or no one I want to vote FOR, there is always people / issues I want to vote AGAINST.

Born in 1952 that makes me a Boomer by very definition.

I
viewed back then, the character ‘Archie Bunker’, as a normal Great Depression/WWII veteran as a normal fellow. NOT some sort of an evil character.

Now those days are gone, and my beloved America is in the shit pot, circling the bowel on the way down into being a shit hole 3rd world entity.

My humble opinion is that Trump wants to make an historical heritage for himself’ Gon Himself knows that the man certainly has enough money already.

Hoping that my above wish/hope is true.

But if not, well …

I was raised very much Lower Middle Class, and I am a tough old bird. Somehow I will make do, if that Whore of Babylon is selected for President.

Somehow or I will go down, at least , swinging, trying to poke some collectivist asshat in their eye balls.

I wish we could stop labeling people into generational segments. Back in the day there were just children, teens, young adults, middle aged and older/elderly people. Nobody got a pass to be a bum. We were just Americans and if you were a commie you were scorned by all. Now we elect them as president and celebrate the Hollywood communist glitterati and interview them incessantly on tv as if they are the only ones who can guide America into the future. Time to stop this silly crap and throw these dogs out before all is lost.

Excellent article admin. Spending tomorrow’s future prosperity for a lackluster ROI today is the result of a predominantly liberal generation of boomers who apparently are devoid of basic arithmetic. Their passing will bring about a new generation in control who will have to deal with the crisis brought on by the previous generation. I should add that no boomer should be offended who was fiscally responsible and tried to live within their means within their lifetime. Less RINO’s like Paul Ryan would be a reassuring sign if we are moving in the right direction. In times of financial and economic struggle, people will be looking for answers. Has humanity thrived under Keynesian economics or has the boom bust cycle of a rigged casino grossly distorted assets and prohibited price discovery due to the financial gimmickry of the fed? Will the next generation embrace Ludwig Von Mises free market capitalism? Will they have a choice after the next crisis? Only time will tell if the horrible regulatory, tax burdens of the Meathead generation are expelled by choice or necessity or perhaps a combination of both.

I am thrilled when Trump calls out the liberals by expounding on the results of their policies over the past 50 years. History is the biggest problem for a liberal, which is why it receives minimal attention in public schools anymore.

Why anyone would pay attention to political discourse offered up by the likes of George Clooney and Barbra Streisand is beyond my comprehension.

There Will not but enough social cohesion for any solutions to our economic crisis . We face bitter ethnic strife as this rips us apart . This so called Democracy will murder itself .Besides multiculturalism is not God’s will for humanity. God has always been in the business of separating ethnic groups. The old testament is full of God separating ethnic groups. One way or another the racial groups in America will be separated.

Well, Mr. Reiner, I AM college educated, however you will have a very hard time “leveling” with me when the first premise of what comes out of your mouth is that you should compel me to do something through the force of a Government gun, that is not only an assault on logic, common sense and reason, but that is detrimental to my well being and families future. Period.

It is not a stretch to say that the liberal “progressive” agenda has been a wholesale disaster to this nation, and the only reason people like you can claim to succeed, is that you have had the luck or privilege to be in the upper strata of those getting the fiat money first. However, college educated or not, people generally feel they have been screwed. The only difference between the college educated among us, and those that are not, is that the college grads can articulate a little better the mechanics of HOW we were screwed, and through what mechanism we are CONTINUALLY being screwed.

Mr. Reiner, do you even know what racism is? Really? Apparently, anyone is racist who does not feel that illegal workers should come in and take jobs from legal, tax paying Americans. Apparently, you are racist if you have a problem with Jihadists using the “religion of peace” to justify wholesale MURDER. Apparently you are a racist, if you don’t want to have to carry a 9mm with you to take your KIDS for a walk around a “multicultural” neighborhood.

See, the authoritarian left truly believes that it is “racist” to want a better quality of person. I have no problem with ANYONE based SOLELY on their skin color, or background. I don’t think the majority of the “racists” or “non-college educated” do either. What they do have problem with however, is a society of normal, law abiding citizens being forced at gun point to accept the edicts of a few elites that see an advantage to their bottom line by promoting “multicultural” policies that skew voting districts to their favor, allow them to employ people for less money because they are “off the books” or in a different country, and allow the Warfare – Welfare state to have a boogeyman to “protect us against”.

So, Mr. Reiner, the problem is not that you can’t “level” with Trump supporters, it is that those supporters – college educated or not – don’t believe any of your, and the progressive liberal left bullshit.

Goldwater couldn’t win because there were too many “New Deal’ Democrats still around in 1964 whose idol was Roosevelt and who thought ‘The Great Society’ sounded just hunky dory. The ‘black vote’ was tiny back then too and the Latino vote consisted of Desi Arnez, Ricardo Montalban and Charo! The Baby Boomer didn’t become politically dominant until after the Nixon presidency. I couldn’t vote for Nixon because the voting age was still 21. The New Deal Democrats died off at the same time and it was then that the Democrats lost the white working class. That was the real shift in the electoral balance and why Reagan crushed Mondale and Bush beat Dukakis. RNC RINOs ruined the Reagan juggernaut and allowed the Democrats to reconfigure the electorate through ‘bi-partisan’ immigration ‘reforms’.

Rob Reiner is just a trivia question answer. The equivalent of Demond Wilson who few can even place now. He represents a few thousand people around Hollywood not his generation.

Idle hands being the devils workshop, the leisure class that emerged post world war II seems to have enabled a large enough group to disconnect from the hard realities of the depression and war years to emerge into the eternal sunshine of a new utopia when America-the last nation standing-stood upon the ruins of the old world order. The New World Order- utopia-the (comparatively) wealthiest nation and largest creditor in the history of nation-states. (excepting maybe 13th century Venice?) An unexamined state of affairs that bred complacency, altruism, arrogance… A birthright purchased at a horrendous cost and squandered in little more than a generation.

I’m a boomer, but mid-generation, born in the mid-50’s. I’ve read much over the years as to how the boomers have wrecked our culture, and maybe so, but IMHO only by a segment, whose commonality is more of education then generation. I submit that this segment, like Reiner, are the first fully indoctrinated American generation in Marxist ideas. Particularly the college educated, and mostly, if not all, in the humanities.

Now, I’m college educated but then, fortunately for me, I was never exposed to this idiocy having labored in engineering and science, but we always knew who the dumb ones on campus were – just not how idiotic they really were.

The unfortunate side is, I should have paid more attention to these idiots, as this might have given me an indication where we were headed. I probably wouldn’t have believed the bullshit anyway, thinking that nobody could be that stupid.

Alas, now we suffer everyday with rule by these idiots.

After a long hiatus, wherein he tried to kick his internet addiction to no avail, the Olde Virginian returns to TBP. I was drawn by Lew Rockwell reposting this piece.

One of my all-time favorite TV shows is Dick van Dyke. Rob Reiner’s father seemed to be sympathetic enough to mainstream American culture. If he were guilty of anything, it would be portraying the TV/Hollywood industry’s worker bees as semi-normal human beings.

While I’ve been away, I have done a lot of “research” (ie web surfing) into the so-called counter culture movement of the 60s. It is clear that it was an intel project from square one.

So one can’t really lay it all at the feet of the little darlings, my predecessors in the main Boomer cohort. They were all played like fiddles from the cradle to become foot soldiers to help pull this civilization apart.

When I watch Hillary overheat and topple into the van, I am encouraged that indeed we some day will see the last of these poor deluded fools. God may even grant me life to see it with my own eyes.

If Trump, who is known to me as a TV character not really differentiated from Meathead in essence, can live up to his promise of a neoAdolf, at least we can be encouraged the hidden hand is ready to swing the pendulum to a new tactic to keep us down.

I’d love to think that what this article concludes is actually the case- but unfortunately, it is not. The burnt-out hippies of the Meathead Generation were the college professors of the recent past, and are even so today; They are the television writers and producers; the journalists; etc. and thus the more recent generations have grown up under their tutelage, and as a result, we now see a generation of nanny-state social justice warriors who believe in censorship and socialism. Even after 40 years of blatant failure of the Meathead philosophy and politics, they still cling to it’s ideals, dreaming that maybe somehow, if they pursue such policies with even more fervor, that they will somehow magically start to work. They’re too blind to see that Archie was right, because they are too busy calling him a “racist” while taking no notice of George Jefferson’s true racism. Such is the fairy tale they live and perpetuate on onto the future, dutifully disseminating the propaganda which they’ve been contaminated with by the original Meathead Generation, and even more so, now that any semblance of real Christianity (Which provided the ethic of the earlier, saner generations) has essentially been omitted from their lives and the public sphere.

Some truth to this article. “Meathead” was a true representation of some “early boomers”, but the reality is that many of us were not the same. Fact of business, Trump IS an “early boomer” and forces were in play that put this country and indeed the whole world on a path to where we are now long before the “boomers” were ever born. They may not have been as vigilant as they should have, but to say that it all fell apart because of them is surely myopic.

I could say that Millennials are all lazy, dumbed down techno-zombies who cannot make change without a cash register or think for themselves and are convinced of their own entitlement, but that would not be completely true.

You cannot pigeon-hole an entire group of people no matter how good it makes you feel to write a smear celebrating their imminent demise. Life is not that simple.

Speaking of “Meathead” and Archie Bunker, Professor Kevin MacDonald, (emeritus of Cal State Long Beach) has a brilliant article called “Why We Write” from the journal The Occidental Observer, where he’s the editor: http://www.kevinmacdonald.net/742macdonaldwhywewrite.pdf

MacDonald deconstructs the motives of Norman Lear, the creator of “All in the Family”, that go very much in line with this article.

The first generation widely subjected to the modern government schools based on a combination of the Prussian system and industrial principles were those born in the early nineteen teens. This generation was conditioned into worshiping the state, FDR, etc. They bought into fascist economics. By the time the early boomers came around the systems of conditioning were already well entrenched. Now it’s almost impossible to escape being conditioned to those ends. The reason liberty minded people are about 6% of the population is because the government has the schools. So long as they have the schools each generation will be some sort of meathead generation. Each aiming for that technocratic management of all of society.

Society was ruined when these concepts of management were deployed by a wealthy elite now long dead. Largely dead before the early boomers were born. But their descendants push it onward and many many people work towards it thinking it is what should be worked towards with absolutely no clue where it comes from. This includes people from early boomers to millennials. This is a design, not an accident. The only accident is that hasn’t been completed yet.

Very true, -B-. I have observed what you said, over the years. My mother who is now 91 was born in ’25, and many of the things she learned in gov’t school were contrary to the values of my immigrant grandparents, and made them look “quaint” and “dumb”. (My quaint dumb grandpa managed to raise 7 kids during the Great Depression and provide them with a stay-at-home mom, and they all lived into their 80’s and 90’s- and that was with no “entitlements”…).

When I went to school in the 60’s and 70’s, I was bombarded with stuff which was contrary to my mother’s values (every generation gets more and more heresy dumped on them), and of course was taught different things in different ways, so as to make my mother look quaint and dumb- But I was lucky- I didn’t fall for it. By age 7, I realized that the schools were pushing values (as opposed to education) and that those values were contrary to the ones with which I was raised. Unfortunately, I was not able to drop-out till I turned 16, but WHAT a great day that was!!!! (In the meantime, I resisted, by not doing the work assigned me, and by being truant).

I look at the schools today, and am truly shocked at how far they’ve “progressed” down the path of socialistic atheistic indoctrination. There’s almost no true educational content now; certainly not any that has any relevance to one’s life; and the schools are a microcosm of a socialist police state, in which individuality is virtually impossible, and the main metric that is taught is to be and think as part of a group, as opposed to a self-sufficient individual.

That, reinforced by the media, means that there is no hope for this world as long as such institutions continue to exist.

so trumps supporters don’t have a college degree and they’re mostly white? I wonder if meathead knows that in the 50’s and 60’s when blacks were starting to vote most of them didn’t have college degrees and many didn’t have any real education. Also does meathead know that blacks vote at 95% or better for the party that created slavery. I wonder what meathead would say if whites voted at 95% for a republican candidate?
